Everyone: "No, you're supposed to hate this. This song is a criticism of your country." Americans: "WE'RE ALL LIVING IN AMERICA! AMERICA! AMERICA!" Edit: holy shit you guys, it was a joke. I was trying to make a funny comment. Like, holy shit you guys.
ive been learning german for a couple of weeks with different methods and literally nothing worked, but somehow using some really old german textbook i found in a trash bin at my brothers highschool, and connecting the words and pronunciations to rammstein songs has worked 10x better then everything else ive tried. its so stupid but it works so well for me
Been listening to this song for years. Know a little bit of German. Never new it was mostly in german, thought there was a lot more English in here. Apparently learning a language at young age means you mind auto translates
DAH helped me discover Rammstein, and it once again introduces me to an absolute banger that is both great as a piece of music and is 100% factually true. Thank you, based Destroy All Humans.
While I think this song is giving criticism, it’s mostly about other countries (specifically European) about how American popular culture has spread so far and wide that distinct European culture and others are beginning to fade away. It’s like they’re no longer living in their native homeland, but in the US like when he says “we’re all living in America.” And how American television is spreading, like “Mickey Mouse in Paris.”
I'm quite fond of the line "I dont sing my mother tongue " He is singing in english not german And many kpop and jpop songs have plenty of english in it and I'm sure many other country's music has english I just haven't ever listened to them
@@draconicusmathiusanytherio7630 2:33 On screen lyrics show sing and that's what I've always heard but I can see how it sounds like speak He clearly Speaks German tho lol but I can see this working for some Irish singer cause hardly any irish even know irish anymore and more American irish are learning irish to leal heritage then there are native irish speakers
When I was growing up my father would say "Wunderbar!" the way most people use "Cool!" or "Awesome!". For years I thought it was the name of a German candy bar. #WunderBar
Like it or not, one thing I admire about Americans is that they wear any song that criticizes them as a badge of honor, starting with Yankee Doodle, then Fortunate Son, Amerika, Keep Your Rifle by Your Side, etc. You just can't diss them
@@KaeserLooty Nah we understand what y'all are saying, not gonna start saying we're the greatest because we're not and it's good to acknowledge that but we fight to become greater and rise above it all 💪🏽
@@mlgodzilla4206 Yeah I know and that's cool and all but it's still confusing, personally I want my favorite bands to get as much exposure as possible, it widens the audience and obviously Rammstein or at least their publishers view it as a worthy investment, or they'd have never gotten the license to use the song in the trailer in the first place lol.
Only if it's being used for cringe. This song being connected to destroy all humans is good because it fits the trailer and was treated with respect. Rhythm thief music being "that tik tok song" is not It's all about how it's being used
@@unfortunatecircumstances8870 Quadrilogy, actually. DAH 4 (Path of the Furon) *DOES* actually exist, even if your search results by just searching "Destroy All Humans 4" will mostly come up with the first game's remake. It's mostly compromised by bugs, unfortunately. I do think it had some interesting ideas, though, I think it's better than 3, 2 is still king.
@@darthvaderreviews6926 I thought the original's story was better, but the gameplay wasn't quite there yet. Thankfully all the issues were ironed out in the second one.
@@AnImperialGod I don't think it only refers to immigrants becoming americanized, but the whole world. Watch the official videoclip. I am currently learning german, and at some point I tried to find german radio stations on the web to listen to german music. Well... after browsing through something like 20 radio stations, all I could find was german bands singing in english lol. I had to resort to talk radio to hear any german at all.
@@AnImperialGod It's referring the fact that he is singing in English. Which is not his mother tongue. The song is about the prevalence of american products and culture the world over which is slowly morphing every culture into the U.S.'s which is why "we are all living in America". It is not a loves song.
@@AnImperialGod when songs that criticise the US like born in the usa become patriotic songs (ie the meaning is lost) im pretty sure they put that in to make it clear that the song is anti-us
This song is accurate and has the harsh reality that our country isn't as "perfect" as people say it is. But it's that fact that this song is that accurate with amazing vocals and music to it that we can't help but sing and dance along 😎
It's less about us not being perfect and more how the U.S has a grip on nearly every nation in world along with our mega corporations like Disney and others. It's largely a condemnation of how capitalism erodes culture and unifies it under the cultures of the richer nations.
I'm an american that appreciates the weight of the song. Like what the true damage of US patriotism and globalization has caused world wide. There are only a few countries globally we dont have a military base in. We really dont need to have the whole world but it's starting to look like the end game for US politicians and business. Yet a lot of US citizens are oblivious or willfully ignorant to it. They've become complicit almost. I empathize with the ones affected.
@@nyxieslife1829 True, every nation deserves to be its own thing. But it’s hard to stop globalism, when a country is producing so much technology and so many great cultural products people are bound to consume it. We’d have to change the outlook on said products from the “default” to actual foreign products. Globalism is actually extremely damaging to the US as well, I’m 100% a patriot but our own globalism is destroying our once great nation. Our success is the key to our decline, I propose to once again return isolationism and a return to national politics. Not to mention that American products and culture are so rooted into being “the default” they aren’t seen as something special by most people anymore. Rather seen as bland and uninspired, causing many foreigners to develop a hatred of the United States. The reason why things like Anime for example are so popular is because people see it as something from a far away distant land, and like absorbing alien culture. But American is no longer alien, everyone knows Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings is British because less prominent countries like Britain have to advise some of their stuff as British, as foreign, in a bid to get people to consume it. America doesn’t do that because America has surpassed itself far far too fast, America needs to slow down and cool off. In our modern world america’s greatest achievements aren’t even recognized by most, because we achieve/d too much too fast. Nationalism is the only way to save the west, when America’s “allies” continue to berate it and view it with distain while taking its achievements for granted, we have to become isolationist and leave them.
@@-sanju- Yeah as I noticed the views and it barely made it to million views after last year. Still was kinda close enough and betting would be costly if you failed. Good thing I didn't at all. ^3^
Heheh we are infiltrating both the United States and Germany with so much secrecy they don’t even seem to notice Soon they will all realize they’re living in Canada once it’s too late
@@LastCanOfCorn wait you know what you’re right. I see Canadian and Mexican culture overtaking and overrepresentation everywhere. As well as all of those Latin American nations in the south of America. Infact they might be even worse then the others. Edit: I forgot to mention The Greenland American Propaganda operations in Europe and Jamaica and Cuba role in it as well
People it's an anti war song made from when W was invading Iraq. The lyrics are all about the USA controlling the dance. It's OK to love this song if youre from America as I am. How many of us hate our government and how it operates. In fact most of the world hates us as in our government and what it has done and continues to do. Its ok because just about every metal band has said as much or much worse in their anti war / America songs. If Rammstein isn't from America then so what. War pigs was done by a band from the UK and Ozzy is one of the greatest music figures to many here in America. Iron Maiden isn't from America and yet Run to the Hills was a huge hit in the states. I won't go on other than this song made Rammstein true icons here in America.
I’m from America and there’s a certain truth that comes from songs such as these. Makes people realize how shitty our government is. I love the country I live in but I hate the government that represents our people
Well europe needs america for protection because without america nato would probably not exist and europe seems to weak to fend for itself. So as a european myself i thank america for spending so much on their military and giving us protection, al the things that go wrong in america itself dont affect my life. And i like big macs and coca cola
@@dg11993 Europe does not need the US for nothing. In fact all of Europe's problems are caused by the US. Europe is just a pawn in the state's hand and Nato is the leash
A haunting portrayal of society: We will appropriate your culture, we will take your identity, we will re-brand it. We can't stop it the system has been set in motion. There is no getting off until the ride ends. Not even George Washington himself could halt this roller coaster ride from hell.
Cultural appropriation is a myth that y’all have come up with in order to create fake outrage. Almost every time y’all whine about it, people who are actually part of said culture genuinely enjoy it because it’s incorporating their culture into whatever is being done or made.
@@NetMoverSitan the theme is mild compared to what I've got for Creepy Uncle Joe and the globalist. Truthfully the song is surface level. It doesn't go far enough. Not just America, but the entire world is being controlled by the elites. Not just the American it's, but global elites.
Yeah, if you’ve been to France lately, you’ll notice that it’s very Americanized. Supermarkets, Chuckie on television dubbed in French, little kids who think they’re going to be gangsters wearing baseball hats on backwards. But at the same time, they all have cell phones, and the Internet, which are also American inventions. I guess y’all get the good with the bad.
Some People should just relax and listen to the song it has a political message behind it but it is still just a song a very good song with really good guitar and drums
@@panajotgusta8192 Satire in song, the fact that America deceived the world, she was not on the Moon, this is an imitation and fake. other thing is that America always start wars + changes the culture of foreign countries with Coca-Cola's Big Mack's and other Disney things. also song about disagree with US policy.
Without knowing German, I knew this song was critical of Amerika by watching the music video. It's about how global corporate capitalism and American pop culture are taking over the world, displacing local cultures. The music video is quite powerful.
As an American, fully aware that this song is critical of my country, I just crank it up and enjoy it. As Americans we like taking critical songs such as This Land is Your Land or Born in the USA, and making them fun sing-alongs.
