The German lyrics "Der Leiermann" ("The hurdy-gurdy man") are by Wilhelm Müller. They were famously set to music by Franz Schubert, which is probably how even Rammstein came to know them - in spite of the great stylistic difference.

Oh my oh my, I have always been into Depeche Mode, I still get a huge twig on when I hear certain tracks of their's. This track is on my ride to work play list and also takes me back to the hot and sweaty heady days and nights in Berlin. This is a track to be played loud and for speeding up the motorways or Autobahn. Another couple of tracks are Clean and Blue dress and Halo. Superb.

Oh my God, I remember The Worm from 616 in Memphis. He made me the best cassettes of all the music he played in the club. I've still got some. Those were great days.
Love both groups this is a mix with a real German edge first heard the the German group in Paris they blew me away and knew the would be coming to the us ..because of how they mix the hard with the DC..
Been a DM fan since early 80's. Clubbing to this in the 90's. Then, I lost this mix. Completely forgot about it, until, I found it in TBBM ( The Blue Ball Music ) mix list. I have missed this version for so long.

It's not Rammsteein, it's a Swedish Industrial band called The Covenant and the song is called Der Leierman which translated from Swedish means "The Organ Grinder"
+Dynamic Designz Web-Development Not to be picky, but Der Leierman is a German poem, not Swedish. Also, this is not Covenant's "normal" version of Der Leierman, but the club remix. It's still fcukin epic!
I mention above, there's a bit similar to Soft Cell's cover of Tainted Love. It's in the transition between Depeche and Covenant. Someone needs to make a three-way.

WOW! My college marching band ( The Riverside City College Marching Tiger Band) performed at EXPO 86' as well. It rained most if the time. Did not get to see DM perform.
