They playing with language. "Du hast..." = "You have..." "Du hasst..." = "You hate..." But it's both sounds the same. And they use this misunderstanding in the lyrics for a plot twist or mindfuck.
Yup. Up until "Du has(s)t" it can go either way. But then they add 'mich' ('me'): "Du - Du has(s)t - Du hasst mich". Which can either be "You hate me" or "You got/have me" at that point. Until it becomes "Du hast mich gefragt": "You('ve) asked me". It's a twist and it's hella fun to chant. Edit: Of course, once you know the lyrics, you know it's 'hast'. Still wordplay, though.
... despite the fact that for them the correct pronunciation is repeated fourty times - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q344Zgh_btE.html ...and there another fifty times - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6An1z-yuszE.html
I love that song so much. It‘s really cool how they play with the words. Till is singing „Du hast mich“ which translates to „You have me“. However you can also write it with two „s“ in German, then it would be „Du hasst mich“ which then translates to „You hate me“. Their songs always leave room for interpretation and that’s really amazing.
"Let me turn it up a bit" NO! IT'S GERMAN METAL! YOU CRANK IT UP TILL EITHER YOU BLOW YOUR SPEAKERS OR YOU'RE DEAF FOR A FEW HOURS AFTER!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I love how the lead singer is simultaneously the most crazy and insane dude on stage as well as the most chill and low key like let me just calmly stand here voice like the abyss and then I will kinda wave my hand and make fire, also in about 2 minutes I'm gonna open a portal to hell with a rocket launcher
i just want to point out what you might miss due to the german language: the song pretty much goes: "you... you have..., you have... you have asked me: ...will you be mine for ever and love me till we part... ; NO" the real deal here is "you have" sounds similar to "you hate" (me) in german, giving this song a double meaning since he denies the proposal what turns love into despair / hate but still fitting the saying "du hast" respectivly "du hasst" (mich) / you have - you hate (me). thats the beauty of RAMMSTEIN lyrics, they are missleading you into a false direction on first glance just to hit you with a twist at some point.
"Even the drummer is on point, man!" Christoph "Doom" Schneider is always on point. Even when the others fuck up during their gigs, Christoph never fails.
Till the lead singer is a qualified pyrotechnics expert so a pyrotechnics definitely feature in their music and live performances. Amazing visuals but also as safe as possible for the band and crowds.
If you want a more elaborate Rammstein tune, they have a video out now called Deutschland. Good old fashioned promo video, and one made with a substantial budget. And a fairly long song and video too.
"Is that man on a treadmill?!" .. Everyone's (me included) first reaction when first seeing this. :D I was first introduced to Rammstein in 1996 or -97.. Back then ... MINDBLOWING (even more than today).
greatest live band you will ever see. ive only gotten to see them three times in my life. saw them for the first time when i was 17. knew who they were and went to family values 98 just to see them. had to put up with limp bizkit to see them lol worth it
I heard them live when I was 18 and skipped high school the next day because the concert was several hours away from my home. I apologized for my absence the day after saying I went to Rammstein concert and our head teacher took it as good enough excuse :-D
It's funny to see someone react to a band I grew up with from their start in the 90's, like "how could you never heard about them", try Sonne / Ich Tu Dir Weh / Seemann and it's worth to check their lyrics, they add a lot to already great experience.
Yeah most people in Europe speak more than one language and they usually speak at least some of the language of the country that borders theirs. They aren’t as self-centered as most people from the US.
They are singing about marriage vows, with the man answering "no" to all the questions a priest would ask him in a marriage ceremony. Something like "will you love her until death do part", and "no!", etc.
Translation: [Verse] You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me [Pre-Chorus] You, you have, you have me You have me, you asked me You asked me, you asked me and I said nothing [Chorus] Do you want, until death separates you To be faithful to her for all days (Yes) No (Yes) No Do you want, until death, which would separate To love her, even in bad days (Yes) No (Yes) No [Verse] You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me [Pre-Chorus] You, you have, you have me You have me, you asked me You asked me, you asked me and I said nothing
I saw these guys live at Nichols arena in Denver Colorado in 2002 it was awesome not quite as good as this one but just a stage presence is just awesome and there was lots of traffic control with him as well
Rammstein is amazing, if have a chance to see their concert, do so, though in US these may be a bit "tamer" as officials are concerned about "safety" due to fireworks and all. What nonsense, some burning spectators only add to the effect...
I’m supposed to be seeing them in concert in September.... if the virus allows. You can watch a time lapse video of the stage setup. It takes about 5 or 6 days just to build the stage at each place the play. They put on a huge show and I’ve never been able to see them live. So I’ll be very sad if it doesn’t happen
Their live shwo is amzing. YOu get somethign you pay 80$ for and wont be disapointed. The lyrics and the backstory are mostly methaphors and deeply poetic. I know thats hard if you dont understand german. There are other songs like Frühling in Paris or Ohne dich. they are slower and maybe easier to connect to. Overall the rough show combined wiht deep lyrics makes them huge in germany. It is definitely not for everyone, but it aint just loud noises either. Check them out at Madison Square garden in New York. Their first show in a decade in the USA due to them being kicked out after some issues with their show :D sold out great show. They are considered to be an industrial rock band. So they play with the sort of industrical scenery and the fire and iron and stuff.
Here the english translation: You You have You have me You have me to say You have me to say And I did not obey Will you until death does sever Be upright to her forever Never Will you 'til death be her rider Her lover too, to stay inside her Never
I just recently discovered your channel and I was asking myself: Why is he not reacting to the most successful German band ?! :D And there it is :) Nice one! If you ever have the chance, go to one of their concerts... It's beyond epic. Greetings from Germany!
Man I love their music and their lyrics are fantastic. You have to really study to get the lyrics right. The thought put in to their lyrics is another level. Playing beat saber to their music is a blast also and I’m 58. Lol,lol.
Jayvee, try Rammstein: Paris "Mutter", this is a great song as well. Since I first heard them about a week ago I can not seem to stop listening to them. Makes me want to go out and learn German, LOL.
So cute, hope you started learning some German. I got hit by Måneskin, about half a year ago, and I have been learning Italian daily, since, on Duolingo, just to be able to sing along!
i dont go in for German heavy industrial music. But i admire and respect Rammstein for staying true to their German identity and language. They have made it 10 times harder for themselves to gain worldwide success. But they have the talent to overcome any barrier
Not sure where you're from, but Rammstein is coming to the United States, Canada, and Mexico this year. The show in Mexico is sold out already as well as the show in L.A., but as far as I know there are still tickets available for the other shows. I get to see them in San Antonio in September. If you get to go, it's definitely worth it. Quick note if you're going to buy tickets, go through ticketmaster, most of the other ticket sale sites will charge you too much. Example, a floor seat will run around $94 (depending on your region) but other sites are charging about 2 or 3 times the amount so roughly $200-$400 per ticket. Just trying to help anyone out there that may be looking to see them live.
The whole song is a clever play on German Wedding Vows. The Pastor ask, "Are you ready to love your wife [* husband], even in bad times" .."until death divorces you" ... Rammstein changes this to "You have asked me and I have said nothing". Chorus "You Have Me" -> Responses "No". In the music video, the man makes a decision against his loving girl. He chooses his old best friends. But not only that, he burns down all the memory of her.
5:40 "Willst du bis der Tod uns scheidet Treue sein für alle Tage?" "Yeah!" Even though his yeah was because of something else, I'm pretty sure he will 😂
We rarely talk about him but Christian Lorenz (keyboard) is amazing, and I think Rammstein wouldn't be so exceptional without him, or with another one.
Sie sind Deuche. (They are German). They are LEGENDARY for their shows. All there songs have heavy lyrics.(in German). The video for "Mein Herz Brennt " is AMAZING!!
Hey man, if you research how much the members of rammstein love music, you will learn a good portion of the money they make is invested into their show production to provide a once in a life time show experience! I have been to many concerts, but nothing touches a rammstein show....nothing! Amazing musicians!
The title "You Have" is a pun with the second person singular of "Have" and "Hate".In terms of content, it is about a marriage proposal, in which the lyrical ego is at first undecided whether to accept it, but finally decides against it, which becomes clear in the chorus. The feeling must be absolutely crazy when you perform your music live in another country with a different language and the whole hall sings your lyrics. Goose bumps!!!!
They are fantastic live, but when you check out their song 'Sonne' (which you really should), do the official music video. Because the video correlates with the song.
I know what you mean with the "foot stomping" comment. Rammstein used to describe their own music as being "tanzmetall" (dance metal), songs that could basically fit both in a metal concert but also in a nightclub or something. They have plenty of other songs with a similar vibe to them (Asche Zu Asche, Sehnsucht, Sex, Laichzeit, Eifersucht, Radio, etc...). Some other recommendations to watch from them: Sonne & Mein Teil (both live). Both songs aren't really tanzmetall, but are more heavy and grand/epic, and both have a killer live performance.
You shall react to the official video of "Rammstein - Deutschland". You most certainly won't regret it, yet it may does leave you confused due to the sole reason it's a 9 minute long epic almost hollywood blockbuster movie wrapped in utter briliant art highlighting Germanys history, from the Romans fighting the germanic tribes to the most likely distant future. Showing key points what Germany has been through with stunning scenes. I may have to add it's their best song, regards many different aspects. Therefore dive into the official "Rammstein - Deutschland" video. It has over 110 Million views.
I've probably watched that video at least a hundred times. When dude said his left foot just keeps stompin...mine was doin it right along with him, lol
