The hike starts at Vollane, up to Vollesætra at approx 420m. From Vollesætra you continue up to Rametinden, 1,198m. After a short rest, the hike continued up towards Ramoen, 1,419m. We had fog all the way going up, but got some openings from time to time, giving us a fantastic view of the mountains.
Ramoen or Jønshornet is a mountain near Barstadvik in Ørsta municipality in Møre og Romsdal. It has a height of 1,419 meters above sea level. The mountain is located on the west side of the Hjørundfjord, and east of the village of Barstadvik. The mountain range, Molladalen lies south of the mountain.
The mountain has an alpine shape and is very steep on all sides, but has two ascent routes that do not require climbing, one from Molladalen and one from Barstadvik via Vollesetra.
In contrast to most other alpine mountains, such as in Jotunheimen, the entire height of the mountain above sea level is visible at close range. From Storfjorden and Hjørundfjorden, you can see a full 1419 meters almost straight up. From the top, the view is similarly spectacular. At the top, there is a stone slab that you have to crawl under to avoid exposing yourself to a cliff towards the Hjørundfjord.
The mountain was a well-known sailing mark for fishermen who in earlier times rowed fishing on the sea off Sunnmøre.
