The Ramones are interviewed in Toronto at the time of the releas of End of the Century. Interviewer is Jeanne Beker (now of Fashion Television). The voice at the end is John (J.D.)Roberts, now of CNN.
Of course the crowd booed The Ramones at an Aerosmith concert. People don't go to Aerosmith shows to see a Rock and Roll band, they go to see bullshit.
@Konga 5000 Very much disagreeing there. Not a fan of Journey or REO Speedway. But the others are okay, at least they're doing something unique. Aerosmith is just glam crap.
Ramones are at the top of the rock n roll mountain. Greatest personalities, great attitude/outlook, greatest sound, look, image, originality, modesty, great songs, greatest rock music.... Greatest rock n roll group of all time.
@@joanabrown8D If it'll take hundreds of years, doesn't that mean it is possible? and if it is possible, don't fuck with what the ramones did. What if you go back in time and it makes Joey become a banker?
The Beatles were the best band in the world!, but Ramones were the coolest band in the world! Period. A mutual share of music culture to both countries
Hell yeah good example. Both bands have their standing. Both bands were excellent and meant a lot to their audience. As did the audience to the bands. Dee dee said with out the crowd cheering and going mental they wouldn't play so good.
there is no denying the Ramones were one of the best Rock and Roll bands period end of argument and I bypassed them by mistake but today as a 67-year old I love them and I wish I'd listened to them early on in my life was wrapped up in other forms of Rock and Roll ut like they say Is never too late!
For sure never too late... fortunately, there are lots of videos of live performances for you to watch... two of the best are from the German TV show Musikladen show in 1978 or 79, and the one from the Rainbow in London UK on New Year's Eve 1977.
Are you kidding?!! you must not have read Dee Dee's autobiography....he said clearly that they hated each other. Tension was always there, above all during interviews...have you noticed how Johnny often tried to cut Dee Dee when he was speaking? their "friendship" there was just a façade, they could never get on well unfortunately.
@@marguskiis7711 deedee was also full of shit according to many people. He claimed he killed a customs guard and how he had a scar that he got from vietnam when it was from a fight, i still love deedee and he’s my idol but i don’t think he’s the most trustworthy member to say the least haha
I think Marky isn't mad, is just that they talk about the beginning of the band and whole scene and he was kinda the new one at this point (1982 I think?). And the interviewer should ask him something instead of just fucking ignore the guy.
why marky looks angry? when i first saw this video i thought he was johnny, because johnny was mad at joey, i don't understand why marky looks so angry,he was always neutral.
Joey and Johnny mentioned a lot the British punk bands, I'm surprised they didn't mentioned The Buzzcocks. They were directly influenced by the Ramones, with the classic buzzsaw sound. The Buzzcocks in turn were also influential. The big but, the Ramones were a much better band. Love the Buzzcocks though.
i think this was around 82 or 83 when marky was about to quit the band!!he was having trouble with alcohol ,and personal problems.he looks so unhappy here.not like the mark we all know, the ramones couldnt stand each other behind the stage, for years, that was sad,its hard to work with someone you dont like, but the carried on.
On the Tonight interview or whatever it was, where they were on that talk show where the host was some woman in place of the host they expected, Johnny actually grabs Mark’s foot to stop him from tapping
Thank you for providing us all with this wonderful artifact. The Ramones were/are one of the greatest bands ever, and go unmentioned in favor of lesser bands such as the Clash and the Sex Pistols far too often. Hopefully someday us Ramone fans will control the world, and everybody will be legally required to listen to all of the albums on a daily basis. Gabba Gabba Hey!
punkgirl......lol.......you're one of the very few females that truly loves my favorite band. I've never met a woman that loves The Ramones like you do. My favorite songs are "Cretin Hop", "Listen To My Heart", "Commando", "Pinhead", and "Judy Is A Punk". I was eleven years old when my older sisters boyfriend gave me Leave Home. Then i went and bought the first album. Then all the rest.I was a true blue Ramones fan from then on. I wish there were more musically compatible females like you.
Im seeing a mutual friendship characteristic between them in this video. I enjoyed it alot. Markie is drunk ahaha. Deedee has his momments where he sounds well spoken. Hes probably just stoned, not all fucked up
i like PIL but um i got the dvd end of the century and they say singer of sex pistols wanted to meet the ramones but was afraid they were gonna kik his ass lol wow that made me laugh its cool AMERICA MY GOD WE DID IT HARDER WE DID IT FASTER AND WE DID IT WITH ALOT MORE LOVE UHH U CANT TAKE THAT AWAY FROM US Ramones were around before SEX PISTOLS THE CLASH so ALL HAIL THE RAMONES
Their acceptance of the punk underground movement in the 1990's making it big wasn't so gracious. They had started to break huge in South America and Europe but Joey's health, always fragile, was broke by 1996. He struggled with health issues for the rest of his life, about 5 years.
If you google "joey ramone passport auction", the first site should be loudwire...if you click that you should be able to see his passport photo and at least one of his eyes
Typical from many non musician parents , when the child wants to be in a band , and they say quite dreaming , and when you are getting popular and having records out , they say all of a sudden , Oh I am so proud of you , I am behind you all the way , it's like F Off ! Stop patrionizing me , I would say . You did not support my dreams in the beginning as parents should . "Sigh " .
most parents want the best for their kids. becoming a famous musician is not a realistic goal. and of course they would be proud if their kids beat the odds.
He was still new..still essentially a hired gun. So he knew that he wasn't supposed to talk much. Plus, he was probably hungover or drunk. This was early into his 1st stint with the band. You can tell by his hair....as it is his own.
My First Name is Pontiac.I was named after the Indian Cheif from what is now Detroit, NOT the Car Company.Oh, and I've been a Ramones fan since 1976 when the First LP came out.
End of the Century was released in February, 1980, ...and the Canadian Music Festival they refer to as taking place "last summer" was in 1979.. .....and the Ramones played in Toronto in both March and May, 1980.... it sounds as though the album has been out for more than a few weeks since they say it's being played on the radio in Toronto (which was a rare thing, and CHUM AM would only play Baby, I Love You)... . so I'm guessing this interview was in May, 1980.
