Rock n Roll High School on drums. Not the Rock n Roll High School produced by murderer Phil Spector who ruined the Ramones' sound, but the one produced by Ed Stasium.
I cannot explain the aesthetics of your drumming, but I know for sure that you got this drumming style down just like Tommy/ Marky ( Richie too ). Great stuff! Gabba Gabba Hey!
Excellent! You've really got the technique down pat. If you can do that for a couple hours straight then start a tribute band. And you're right about Phil Specter sucking all the life out some great Ramones tunes. I really wish they'd taken the time to re-record the entire End of the Century album -- the way it should have been done the first time -- when Joey, Johnny, DeeDee and Marky were back together in 1990 as a 10th anniversary gift to fans. With Tommy producing, of course.
Hey,Adje.I have learned so much from your covers of the Ramones' songs I have to say thank you very much for putting these up.I'am currently in "The RockAways" a Ramones' tribute band playing gigs in Southern Calif.
You are never too old, or young, to start playing drums. I bought my first set of second hand drums as a lark, with no idea if I would like it or not. Almost the moment I sat behind the kit and started to try and play along to songs I liked I knew I the drums were the instrument(s) for me. I think most people either love playing drums or are not really interested...I rarely find someone who is non-committal.
@korgrandi Thanks dude. It actually took a couple of takes coz my right arm kept locking up. I used to be able to do this tempo for 45 minutes but that was back in the days when I played every week :-)
@Adje1960 i will, how many times did you see them live? because they only came to australia a couple of times and my mum saw them at bigday out in 1994 i think it was the last concert or one of the last on australia.
Ok so I admit it....I loved the movie when it came out. What can I say I was 10 years old! Clint Howard as Eaglebauer....WOW...some classic shit man! Excellent song and cover!
@Holdenon3 I've done it once, a tribute to the Ramones. Played a whole set live. It went pretty well. But we'd been practising for a couple of months to get the beats and the downstrokes right :-) Couldn't do it now anymore, I'm too old...
@0intelligence0 I think I have a video somewhere where you can see my foot. Not sure which one it is. But I can't play heel-toe. My shin starts to hurt when I do that. And I can't hit the bassdrum hard enough either with heel-toe.
@sageguitar70 Wow, you actually saw the movie? Not many people have. I lived in Holland at the time and it was nowhere to be found. Had to move heaven and earth to get a video copy.
Adje1980, I would just like to say well done on your Ramones live versions and studio versions. I am starting a 'bad' Ramones cover band in Australia and your vids have help me a lot!!! The occasional negative feedback is not warranted and virtually never constructive!! Hey i dont think you have done do you remember rock and radio and she's a sensation ,,be great if you could have a crack at those...Again well done Poison heart is excellent
@thetruckman1 Hey thanks! Check out our the Worktones. Just search for worktones on youtube. We did a couple of Ramones covers. I saw them live a whole bunch of times and they're my favorite band :-)
Yes recorded with 1 mic. En ja, ik ben Nederlander maar ik woon al jaren in Canada. Ik eq de opname en een beetje compressie en gebruik dat voor de video. Het geluid van de video camera is super slecht.
You might be surprised how quickly you can develop speed. Actually, some thrash metal drummers develop insane speed but I find that at a certain point it loses its impact and the notes become indistinguishable from each other.
I think the more though really listen to music like this and see drummers perform this way the easier is to play. I remember just constantly drumming along with headphones on after school to many Screeching Weasel & Queers albums, mostly Danny Panic playing. Groovie Ghoulies, Riverdales, etc.
he's right phil spector ruined the ramones by one little album some songs are good like rock n roll high school, rock n roll radio but danny says and baby i love you give that to someone else
@juninhoratone I checked out your videos of your band and you don't even do the 16ths on the hi-hat. So who's slow eh? Your bass player and guitar player don't even downstrum. And the singer sings nonsense. So before you criticize me, you better check what you and your band are doing. Your band isn't a Ramones cover band. It's a shitty attempt of covering the Ramones.
