Thanks for playing See You Later UAC-Gator! Funnily enough, there is story reasons in another wad of mine why some of the wacky monsters appear. As for this map, I wanted to showcase them while building an effective atmospheric map, even if the wacky monsters don't make much sense.

Thank you for playing Bubble Meance! I know it's a pretty weird one, but I appreciate you sticking to it through to the end! 💖 I actually hadn't ever texted the map without using the Serpentine, so I didn't realize how much longer those boss areas would take without it! Oops! I was hoping to go for an all crayon/color-pencil look inspired by Yoshi's Island. Didn't quite work out the way I wanted, but given only the month to work on it, I decided to focus on making the map have all the features I wanted instead of trying to get too wild with the art. Also, thanks for the compliments on the music, very appreciated!

I'm getting kind of a Psychonauts inspiration from Bubble Menace. Very creative and it's a really ambitious re-skin but it's definitely weird lol

1:28:52 Oh hey it's my map haha. RAMP 2024 is coming up so I decided to look up my most recent map's name for the hell of it, and apparently I haven't seen this video yet. Anyway the map is at least vaguely inspired by Sandy Petersen's style but the title is more of a provocation towards the Doom community who seems to despise his maps even though all of the most memorable maps in vanilla Doom I and II were made by him, which IMO makes him the best mapper amongst the ones who worked on vanilla Doom. Yes I am a bit of a Romero hater 😆 (not really but I do think he's a bit overrated).

I wrote another comment explaining the title (not that it really needs it). This one is for responding to some of your other remarks during the playthrough. I actually didn't know if you could shoot the eye switch at the start without mouselook, but I have just tested it and you really can't. When you start talking about the skybox I thought you were going to mention the fact that it's taken from the Sandstorm music video. Nope. Apparently so far no one who has made a video where they play this map has noticed it. Anyway the seams are not all that obvious; on my machine with my rendering settings I can't see them at all, and of the 5 people so far I have watched play this map, you're the only one who has mentioned them. Of course one of those people was TheV1perK1ller and they just don't say anything at all in any of their videos (afaik). I'm not really a new mapper, I just don't make maps all that often. I've published three other maps (if you don't count the ~10 maps from my standalone game project, which are mostly just placeholders) before this one, two of which are in the first RAMP. This map in particular is like it is because it was very rushed, but I can't really say my other maps are all that much better. I enjoyed your reaction to both the outside area transformation -- which was in a way a nod to Warrens -- and the exit switch being a shootable one. One of my two maps for RAMP 2021 also required all switches to be shot, but I realized from watching David play it that it wasn't obvious what the switches did, and the map had another gimmick that completely overshadowed them, so I designed this map to make the shootable switches a lot more obvious. Also regarding the transformation: unfortunately you just can't make sound travel through the type of portal that I used for that effect, and I don't know to do that effect without using this type of portal, nor if that's even possible. I'm doing a kind of a bit with my RAMP submissions. Every one of them is a tribute to Sandy Petersen in one way or another. Serious Abstraction, the first one, had the exit behind three locked doors as a subtle nod to Halls of the Damned, and a trap that was a much more obvious reference, mimicking the fake exit trap in that map. Derpy Doors of Despair is, well, a map that revolves entirely around a single gimmick, and much like Slough of Despair, it is shaped like a hand. If I manage to do what I have planned for RAMP 2024, let's just say the automap will look pretty, uh, interesting.
