I love how Fedor almost trips when he's walking down those stairs; Just looks like a nice and normal guy. Little would you know he is the biggest badass on earth.
THE NEW M.M.A. FAN DO NOT KNOW HOW GOOD FEDOR WAS, ALL THE GREAT FIGHTERS IN M.M.A.OVER THE YEARS SAY HE IS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME, THE NEW FANS OF M.M.A. LOOK UP FEDOR FIGHTS.
Fedor walks in looking like some random dude off the street that they just put a belt on and told to walk down the walkway. To be able to fight like that without needing to stroke your own ego and hype yourself up first is something few guys can do. Worthy of massive respect.
I got chills when I read your comment. Could you imagine sitting next to him on a train, he'd probably just let you talk, and then you get off and someone whispers to you, "That was FEDOR!" One of the heroes of old lives among us right now...
Think if you didn't know who he was...just walking around in baggy clothes and training shoes like such a humble person. Little would you know that he is the greatest fighter in the world.
Yeah Ive seen Fedor in pride and he was crazy, then when you see him in strikeforce losing its frustrating and you just wish this monster was there to tear shit up again :'(
Basically he was saying how he really admired Fedor, and when he lost against wandy, Fedor looked over at him in a reassuring way and he felt better about himself.
people still take Fedor for granted. I mean, yes some of his challenges weren't really challenging like the Mark Hunt fight, but he's beaten Nougeira, Cro Cop, Arlovski, Sylvia, Randleman, Monson, Herring, Babalu, Coleman and Lindland. I can understand he hasn't beaten any big names in the UFC like Mir or Couture (which of course would have been epic) but he has amassed so many wins in his career. And he's not that old yet. I thought he was 39, but he's actually only 35.
fedor emelianenko the last kind of his era (every veteran of his time has fallen but him) 7 years reigning as a heavyweight champion 9 years of being undefeated 10 years of living the dream. blessed by God with humble origins with the heart of warrior to be the ruler of mma a gladiator a fighter a man a champion the legend forever
Sort of...Fedor had influenza and a broken toe for that fight, so he apologized to the fans for his lackluster performance. He said he tried to end the fight quickly because he was feeling so sick but then when it didn't end, he stayed on his back to gather his strength. When Hunt was going for submissions, Fedor said he was never in any trouble, as you saw, he easily finished him. Fedor was never pissed off though.
patrick cote, james irvin, chris leban, damian maia, thales leites. yeah when i think of stiff competition these are definitely the names that come to mind
Anderson Silva fought way more cans than Fedor. Compare their records, Fedor fought much more consistent competition. Not only that, Anderson never fought against giants. Fedor used to fight guys twice his size and RAGDOLL them. He beat Semmy Schilt, no big deal, just a four time world kickboxing champion who was literally too tall for Fedor to punch. Anderson walks around at 205 and cuts weight to fight smaller dudes. You can't even compare.
Jacob Paulson Cmon we know in Japan all were on drugs, first. Second, Hendo knock him out. No other but Hendo ko him who is one of the hardest hitters in MMA histroy. Third, they were at heavyweight and in weight class anything can happen.
I think you could have an argument for either of them. Anderson certainly wasn’t fighting ‘cans’ he was just so much better than the rest of the division. Fedor was a monster too, always seemed like he was out to get milk and then he’d smash someone. Unfortunately sticking with Red Devil/M1 for so long ate up a significant part of his career and we didn’t see him in what could’ve been his peak in 07-09. But he beat Nog, and Nog kicked some ass in the UFC, he beat Crocop, Igor. And I think Fedor was the only one not on juice in Pride.
People have so much respect for Fedor. "He is cool as hell- calm, cool, and collective." I want him to do well regardless of who he fights because he is an amazing role model. It would be disgusting if kids acted out like Brock Lesnar.
@aford92 I just checked. In the UFC, it's one, and it was gonzaga, and it was for about a second and a half. There's nothing to suggest anything about his offensive or defensive wrestling either way. In fact, his grappling is a huge unknown that his fight with Cain will probably answer. Also, since Fedor has precisely 2 skills: 1. looping basball punches done pretty fast for a heavyweight 2. Being able to outgrapple kevin randleman. stones, glass houses, etc
@resurgence9 Technically, the same could be said about Vadim Finkelchstein. Unfortunately, he sold part of M-1 to Fedor, so Fedor won't ever leave him.
@Xytos That is Quinton Rampage Jackson. He's not as much a trash talker as you might think. Rashad started the trash talk game with him before their fight as did Wanderlei back in the Pride days. He's always been respectful of fighters even those he's lost to like Sakuraba. Also if you remember when he fought Ninja, Rampage won on a bad decision and said he shuold have lost the fight himself gave his winners trophy to Ninja.
@ricebag The fuck do you mean a triangle doesn't count? I love Fedor to death (no homo) and it was heartbreaking (no homo) to see his last few fights, but how does a triangle not count, and what about Henderson (although that might have been stopped a little early)
Dana White is NOT jealous of Fedor. He doesn't want him in the UFC. I believe if Fedor joined the UFC he would easily tear through whatever weight class he's in and stay there. It's hard for me to believe anyone has a decent chance of taking him on. The competition would be dead. Zufa likes the competition and the steadily changing weight class champions. Fedor would simply control his weight class for too long, and people would get bored. But that's just my opinion.
i never had seen pride before but i miss it now, pride actually seemed like it had a 70''s/80's theme when boxing was around, but now you have the ufc which is still good, but you have a asshole like dana white running the company and giving title shots that people didn't deserve like Lesnar and vitor belfort, when there's plenty people left that actually earned it, like henderson dealing with vitor, and shane carwin and cain velasquez before lesnar
You know one of the things that makes Fedor the baddest mo fo on the planet? 31 victories, 21 of which were in the FIRST ROUND (according to wikipedia). 3 more were in the second round. only 7 times has anyone actually survived to a decision with Fedor in the ring. He never lays back, never plays it safe. It's 100% attack the entire time. The men who have been able to make it to a decision with him? Men like Big Nog, Cro Cop...great men.
@panther2552 i gotta disagree with you a little.I'd say Werdum is the top submission fighter at HW not just because he subbed fedor, but his credentials at the ADCC tournament back it up as well, i don't think Fedor is number in at any one aspect of mma. but he is top 3-4 in all of them making him the most complete fighter to compete. And that is why he would more than likely beat guys like cain, brock, carwin, and junior. not to say he definately would, as werdum proved anything can happen
I agree but the Americans you speak of are Dana White and all the former wrestling fans just now tuning into MMA. Any real MMA fan in America knows Fedor is a class-act and a true champion.
No it's really not. If he fights someone like arlovski who is an excellent boxer he was still attacking half the time, and in that situation you're correct he some what waited for a mistake. But the VAST majority of his fights he's not waiting back for a mistake, he's attacking and if his attacks don't finish the fight he's already assimilating their style and watching for a mistake. He overwhelms many people though. Have you seen all his pride fights? Affliction? Rings?
walking weight is not octagon weight. walking weight is how much you weigh between camps. fight weight is how much you weigh when you fight(day after weigh ins) and anderson probably fights at 190-ish and jones fights at 215
I'm not saying Fedor's popular, but he is among MMA fans in America. I hope people outside the United States don't interpret Dana White's anti-Fedor stance as a reason to believe that most American Fans hate Fedor. Fact is, American MMA fans love Fedor (WWE and Dana White's minions don't count because there not about MMA. They're about Brock Lesnar and the UFC brand)
@ThePintoAce i cant find thegreatfanymoss84 original comment but did he really claim lesnar could beat fedor? probably a wwe fan turned ufc fan when brock came over fedor would either knock lesnars head off in the standup or break off a limb on the ground
@Danielson184 Cont. But comparing those three to Fedor who's truelly beaten the best at their best doesn't make sense. in his last two fights Lesnar's been exsposed horribly in the stand up, (though he showed heart against Carwin). Carwin showed he can't go past the first round. Cain is the most well rounded of the 3 but has no subs. Fedor's Striking doesn't look as technical, but his accuracy is rediculous. We may never agree on this bro, but thanks for keeping the convo civil.
@jkevelighan well actually its a little different from that. Fedor's M-1 global dudes were demanding that if fedor fought in the UFC, the UFC would have to co-promote with M-1, just like strikeforce does now. But M-1 doesnt bring enough to the table, so its just them making unreasonable demands. complicated bullshit, ya know
@stronnize LMAO nice comment man, was having some cereal at night and almost choked. I like how he looked at the ground ready to beat the crap out of it.
You realize Mark Hunt was ranked #10 at the time of their fight though, right? He had beaten Cro Cop and Wanderlei around that time and PRIDE was short on challenges for Fedor...Fedor was supposed to fight Barnett but Barnett turned it down last minute so Hunt stepped in. Can't blame Hunt or Fedor.
that was kinda pushing it seeing most people in the world dont know him or really follow true mma fighters. But yea i would kill to learn his training methods!
