So with the antenna off you hear weak, unintelligible static at best but when you turn the antenna on you can hear nice, strong, unintelligible static. That about sums it up.
A better test wold be to pull the whip antenna out on the radio and use the switch on the side of the radio to flip between the two and see if the external antenna (the ramsey) is actually better than the internal whip antenna .. Im dying to see that
Great video I've seen it in their catalog. But was Leary about the price versus what I could build myself. But it seem to deliver and it suppose to have those microwave transistors in it. Thank you for posting .BTW there's always going to be people who throw rocks at it. Even if it was made of gold Lol. Some folks hate Ramsey lol
The unkown Christian Station at 6090 mhz is the University Network and the woman speaking is the wife of founder Gene Scott, who passed...During the time you caught that transmission, they also broadcast on 5935 mhz and is a strong signal from a Carribbean Beacon in Anguilla...Every signal you showed are very strong stations that could easily be received with the rigs whip antenna under most conditions...HOw does it do for FM?..
What are you proving by turning the amplified antenna off and on? With that turned off, there's no antenna connected to the radio, so obviously you're not going to hear anything. Well, I guess you are proving the Ramsey is better than no antenna. However, few would use a radio without an antenna of some type.
The telescoping antenna that is in the back of it. Its right there. Also, I have the schematic and board layout. The on/off switch is a DPDT switch. When its in the off position, it connects either the telescoping antenna at the back of the box or an external antenna connected to an RCA connector on the back directly to the radio.
Ill be more than happy to send you the docs on this active antenna that I found the other day since Ramsey does not make Amateur Radio equipment anymore... I am planning on building one of these....
Ok in the later models Ramsey included an telescopic antenna. I see this is an older model since it was uploaded in 2010 but the on/off switch on the later models connected the antenna directly to the radio in the off position. Not sure about this particular model. Sorry about that. But i still can send you the schematic of the latest model Ramsey had before they discontinued their amateur equipment.
