Two basic, but vital maneuvers every ranch sorting horse must be able to perform well in order to be successful in ranch sorting competitions. www.MarkMoffittHorses.com
Very informative thanks! I just went to my first sorting event as a spectator in Spanish Fork. I would love to get into it and try sorting. And yes, the most beautiful place on earth right there! Love our mountains.
That was a great simple video demonstration on a nice polished horse & then a green horse... with the added bonus of a magnificent backdrop! I wish more horse owners would give their horses a chance if we spend a little time & patience setting them up to succeed, rather than just jumping into whatever discipline we choose & then expecting our horses to just know what we want from them!
i know Im randomly asking but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the account password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Miller Kenzo Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I've never sorted. I was concerned that my former barrel horse isn't cow or cutting bred but seeing your fundamentals videos makes me think we should go ahead and give it a try!
Great video! I am a beginning sorter and on the 2nd horse you addressed one of the issues I have. Very helpful and I will be practicing to get better on our turns.
I have an older horse who was bred for cow work but he responds very well to neck rein. Can these exercises be done with neck rein or must they be direct rein?
I got a young mare and had no idea on her breeding or anything, I was told quarter horse/mustang cross. Now when I sent in her DNA I find out she's literally filed with world champion cutters. Suddenly it clicked why she's so dang smart and so quick, but then I realized I know nothing about cutting or sorting.
Are those the Wasatch Mountains in your background? It's got to be. Love those mountains, sure miss them.I appreciate you posting this video. I have a 15 yr old finished reiner and have been looking at other event options for her. I think she might do really well in ranch sorting. Thanks a ton!
Yes those are Utah Mountains! We are in Utah County south of Salt Lake City. The first horse in this video I started and finished her in reining training she loves cows and is an amazing sorter! I feel that the more body control and in tune your horse is with you the better sorter they will be...and that's exactly what reining training does.
