The Ranch Water cocktail might not have the best name, but it sure tastes good. This here drink is a refreshing tipple straight from Texas.
Ranch Water
2oz blanco tequila (Santos)
lime juice
top with Topo Chico
Add all to a collins glass. Stir and enjoy. Garnish with a lime if you want to.

In the southest part of Texas, we do make this drink, just pour it in an angle to keep the carbonated water as crispy as possible. Also its popular for hangovers with no alcohol, just ice, lime, salt pour at an angle and at a twist of clamato. Some people add drops of tabasco sauce . Lots of ice tho. This drink has to be dead cold.

Cool to hear about this. Agreed that the colder this drink is, the better.

For anyone who wants to try topo Chico for the first time , I recommend to make sure it is COLD . Like super cold. Leave that thing two days in the fridge Type cold . Then put some lime salt in it . Your insides will thank you .

Hi, I bartend here in Texas! I usually dress the glass with kosher salt or tajin (also found that the Twang-a-Rita strawberry-lime salt works great. Gives a little bit of salty sweetness). 1.5- 2 oz of silver tequila, fresh lime juice and Topo Chico. Sometimes I’ll add a bit of agave if they want something refreshing with a subtle sweetness

I'm from Texas and I've never seen it in a bar. But I have had I'm Mexico. We call it tequila preparada which means prepared tequila. Only we use the whole lime and do lime and salt on the rim of the glass and with a small pinch of salt in the glass itself. Mmm makes my mouth water. Also another way of making a cocktail. Instead of using tequila we use a Scottish whiskey called Buchanan's or Glenlivet. Same concept different liquor.

Recently found the cocktail again after suffering through the hot summer recently and finding most other beers too heavy to drink due to the climate. I've been using Espolon Blanco tequila, lemon juice, and Perrier, though I should try Topo Chico and I definitely need to get lime juice.

I'm a Texan in Dallas and I'm just starting to run into this. It's on upswing statewide coming out of west Texas. If you like spicy drinks try it with the glass rimmed with salt and some kind of pepper (recommend cayenne or jalapeño salt). This is a great dry summer drink alternative to the syrupy margarita. Very refreshing in scorching Texas summers.

I am fairly convinced people who say different brands of water taste different when mixed in cocktails are talking out of their arse. There are two types of water: Hard (mineral rich) water and soft water. The difference is non-existant in mixed drinks. If you want to control carbonation, get a home carbonation kit (tinker with CO2 pressure), or even a sodastream...
@BetterCocktails
@BetterCocktails 7 лет назад
+ezra limm there is a difference in carbonation.
@HowiesGirls1
@HowiesGirls1 4 года назад
Better Cocktails at Home big difference in carbonation. Topo has more and bigger bubbles than any other substitute I’ve tried and the bubbles really make this drink refreshing more than anything else. Pellegrino and Perrier just taste too flat if you liked the Topo model.

Pretty close, but if you're gonna bother making a video it's worth getting the recipe right. You won't see this in Dallas, but it's all over Houston. Lime Oleo (let 10 lime peels sit in 2 cups of sugar overnight.Boil that with 1 cup of water into simple syrup and you've got lime oleo. 2 parts tequila, 1/2 part lime oleo, 1 part lime juice and topo to taste. Put a good sized grapefruit peel in and get the grapefruit oils on the glass rim. Welcome to South Texas Nirvana.

@teknikallysekure
@teknikallysekure 6 лет назад
Sorry for coming off like a hater your videos are great. I used to live in the PacNW btw ;) Dallas is a bit of a cultural island where generally it seems the white collar attempts to adopt bits and pieces of what's further south and westerly. I'd guess that so many blue collar oilfield workers live back and forth between Houston and South/West Texas that the natural migration of food and flavors is more natural there. Also, the creativity in the food scene in Houston is off the charts, while Dallas is just pretty standard (lived in both for a good bit). I'm not anything other than a home bartender, but I entertain alot so cooking, baking and ultimately cocktails are all something I spend a fair amount of energy perfecting to treat my friends and family :) If you ever make it down to Houston drop by Eight Row Flynt in the Heights for the best Ranch Water rendition I've ever had. I've been introducing this to my friends in SoCal and they all love it.
