Hey there! You're likely somebody like us, interested in cocktails. Thanks for watching our series.
Years ago, Brooke Johnson and Brian Johnson started Better Cocktails at Home to show people that great cocktails can be made at home. And, just so you know that our show is real, we took a bit of a hiatus as we renovated our house, had some kids, and dealt with all of the other things life throws at you.
Hopefully, you're able to enjoy a well made cocktail every once in a while like we do. Thanks for watching our show. We really appreciate our fans. We love meeting them, hanging out with them at bars, and being as helpful as we can.
We just finished building a brand new home bar and we're excited to share it with you in upcoming videos. We'll be making tiki drinks, classics, originals, home bartender drinks and tons more.
With original drinks there isn't as much to talk about since there is no history or variations. Just the ingredients and flavors. I'll work on improving our videos.
Thank you Brian for the feature! And a great cocktail to start with, another fun variation is to use an Ouzo for the rinse/coating instead of Absinthe.
Fantastic. Exactly what I was looking for. Do you have links to the Biopixel footage? I’ve found their video library on their site but curious which ones you used.
This is a really good public video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ehC5kXA70Ao.html On their site, search for static shots. I got some manta ray footage and some reef footage from them. They might have some stuff not listed. I think the biggest key is getting static or "locked off" footage.
This is incredible - I’m at the idea stage of creating a nautically themed restaurant and this is exactly what I had in my brain but had no idea how to even begin doing it! Roughly what was the cost?
Great list! Definitely more of a “luxury” than “essential” but I’m a fan of the Elevated Craft Double Walled Hybrid Cocktail Shaker. It consolidates shaker, measuring and strainer all in one.
This is so awesome. I love it! Do you happen to have any links to the pumps/tubes you used? I'm searching around Amazon a bit blankly as i dont really know what to look for. Thank you!
The tubing is just standard 1/8" aquarium tubing. I just found a pump on Amazon with good power and good reviews. They make little inline air values to reduce air flow if you need to.
It's doing really well. It is a well made product with good support. The drain does get nasty and clogged. I just took the drain apart and cleaned it. We just tied the glass rinser drain into the sink drain right next to it.
Its Disgusting how fucked technology has de-advanced, I used to watch this channel years ago, I had the hankerin' to revisit this video again, when I did I typed in the channel name along with the name of the drink -three dots and a dash - every drink video within the last five but mostly 3 years populated my screen but never your channel even though I had your channel name at the forefront of the search. Fuck Google
Have you heard of the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique? It was created by Erik Castro in 2015 and is similar, with 1.5 oz Mezcal, 0.75 oz Punt E Mes, 0.5 oz Galliano Ristretto, and one dash Scrappy's Chocolate bitters. I actually wasn't a huge fan when I tried that one though; I found the mezcal and coffee liqueur took over everything. So I'd be interested in trying this one, it looks better balanced
Out of curiosity, where did you get those beautiful blue tumblers? I've been looking everywhere but can't seem to find it even on the official website!
This is one of my favorite punches, especially this time of year. I like to add the hot black tea to the oleo saccharum to dissolve the sugar. It looks like you might've reduced the sugar from 3 oz to 2 oz? I've made this exactly as written (1/3 more sugar than lemon juice) and compared it to a batch made with equal amounts of lemon juice and sugar, thinking I'd prefer the equal parts version (since most punches are equal parts). However, I ended up preferring the original recipe.
@@BetterCocktails Yeah, I was a little surprised myself since the recipe reads sweet. I seem to recall Wondrich explaining that punch calls for more sugar than a cocktail because punch is more diluted and thus needs the sugar to help it not taste too thin -- and USS Richmond does call for a fair amount of soda water / champagne (equal parts stock and weak). Maybe that has something to do with it? Next time around I may try somewhere in between the original and equal parts. Incidentally, if you like USS Richmond, the Daniel Webster punch is similar and quite tasty.
I am doing a basement bar 20000 leagues under the sea and I was trying to find something like this I thought I was strange that no one has done this and here you are. Amazing Job. well done.
@@BetterCocktails Hey thanks for replying. Want to do 2 portholes like you have with a cocktail table 1/2 circle on the wall across from the bar and behind the bar large center window like the one in the original salon of the nautilus with a squid either as a forced perspective diorama a 3d picture like the artists do with multiple layers just would need a stiff paper or plastic for that. saw some really great signs and things on etsy as well. I will be doing this design for sure with or without tv or maybe even a diorama behind it. I love the idea of 1/2 distilled water and 1/2 vodka to prevent algae.
Never had a sidecar because I have never bought a bottle of cognac. But that's exactly my type of drink, since I like simple cocktails with a few ingridients. I'll give it a try.
