When Random Breath Testing was introduced in 1982 the public had to be convinced that this "invasion of your privacy" was in everyones interest. This television commercial was more about winning the public opinion battle than scaring drivers.

As kids, we used to sing (loudly) on our bikes "Are you under 05 or PISSED like the rest?" whenever we rode past a daytime RBT in our small country town. My mother was NOT impressed....

When my dad was a cop during that time, they didnt arrest people who were like 2 or 5% over the limit and they focused on people who were actually pissed or nearly pissed not drivers who were like sober the same as someone who is under the limit. now these days, its all about revenue.

@@marklynch5149 not really because in that time i dont think they were aware as much as today, as there duty was to target drunk drivers who actually can not drive at all, not someone who looks like someone who only had 2 and 3 drinks, but yeah i understand ur point

But if thats the case then they would of changed the drinking law to 1 standard drink and not 3 standard drinks and it depends on what there drinking too, but what i mean is if someone is functioning the same way a person is fuctioning that had only 2-3 drinks which is legal, they shouldnt really be arrested if there like 1% over.. i aint talking about being 5% over, i mean literally 1% over 0.06. that was my point. im not condoning it but alot of police these days are just revenue hungry now.
