Steve, Thanks for the acknowledgement, it's very much appreciated. The return to Anderton's cost £20.00, they agreed to deduct it from the refund. I didn't think that was too bad considering the fact that the item was not faulty in any way. I don't think I'll be buying anymore new guitars without trying them first! All the very best matey.
Oh yeah buying online can still be a bit of a risk. The age old advice of try before you buy still holds up. Although I'm guilty of not following it too 🙈 On the flip side.... Sometimes a guitar can play like an absolute dog (in store), but be a wee gem after a proper set up etc
Great video Steve, just the sort of thing that I really enjoy watching, so more of the same would be very welcome. Totally identify with the red light curse, every time I record something I invariably play like I'm wearing boxing gloves!

Hi Steve, just a quick update as I received my long awaited Goldtop Prs se DGT this week. Have to say I was so disappointed that I have sent it back to Anderton's today! Nothing wrong with the guitar except it didn't live up to all the hype. My second hand Prs se 24 plays and sounds much better and has a more comfortable neck profile. Have to Anderton's were very good about the no fault return. Thought I'd let you know as these guitars are receiving almost universal praise and felt an alternative point of view was important to share.

I thought the Silver Sky might be the one as it's essentially a strat,, but that wasn't for me either :/ Same as you, I'd only heard great things about the DGT SE and was keen to pick up a used one eventually. But I'm less bothered now after reading your experience. Total bummer when you're looking forward to a new guitar and it doesn't work out :/ Did you have to pay to return to Andertons?

Hi Steve. I am absolutely Dave's side when it comes to these days price evolution in the guitar world. I play the guitar for almost 49 years now.and i do not understand what is happening with fender, gibson, prs ibanez etc. Alle of them are running crazy. ALL, even the Ola's and the Chapmans. An indonesiam Ibanez JEM JEM - 2000 Euros, an epiphone for 2000 euros. A Gibson LP Studio for 1700. A prs silver sky that was 1800 Euros in 2020 turned up to 2700 in 2021. Paul Reed Smith said in an interview that he has to feed 500 mouth. BUT what is he feeding them? Gold? I mean a luthier is a carpenter with a bit of electronic knowledge. But they are treated like theyr''re all the new version of picasso. I don't get it. And what am i and a lot of people are forced to buy now. Harley Benton's, Jet's, Fazley's where we put new pickups in that cost more than the guitars themselves. That''s a crazy evolution. I could rage hours about this topic.
I hear ya mate! 😀 I think it might not be so bad if the extra cash was going in the luthiers pockets, but I'm pretty sure that wont be the case. The solution thats working for me so far is Boycotting these big brands and buying exactly what you said 😂 HB, Jet etc... I'm lucky to still own a USA Fender Strat, but I still prefer to play my Jet anyway😂🙈
jus sayin, this jet 850 has given up...if y use the trem ,it immediately goes wildly out oftune in different directions, tried all the roadie tricks ,tried changin n stretchin strings , nup, the roasted mapleis a disguise for shit maple, hours of trying to tune it , nup , its let go...shit neck...unless y faff about not using the wilinson trem ,which was great...now ? nup its shit

@@stevecassidyguitar yeah its 20 years old,has grover tuners, y can play it for hours with zero tuning issues like the ibanez prestige junk, as for th jet , the trem edges where it meets th poles was not forged steel ,so it was only gunna get worse because everytime y use the trem its gunna settle either flat or sharp (exactly as i had described)...dwayne the luthier said all my other guitars have properly forged steel floyd rose, and the jet has cheap chinese steel ...so the shop graciously let me trade down again to beautiful old washburn whale that will go well with the origin 20 head n cab that im replacing this boss katana with, another modern rip off i mistakenly assumed would be at least adequate.
