RANDY MEISNER at The Joint (Los Angeles) - May 29, 2000

BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THE GUITAR BEING TOO LOUD: The camcorder was in front of the amps. The P.A. speakers were overhead, aimed at the crowd in the room. Be happy that you can see him this close up, in a small club, not some little dot on an arena stage.
Just a few weeks after Jack Tempchin began his weekly "Big Monday" shows at The Joint, Eagles bass player Randy Meisner dropped by and joined the band for three songs. He played bass on “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” which Jack wrote, then sang his own “Take It to the Limit” and took the lead vocal on Jack's “Already Gone.”
Randy Meisner - vocals / bass
Jack Tempchin - vocals / guitar
Waddy Wachtel - guitar / backup vocals
Bernard Fowler - backup vocals
Phil Jones - drums
00:00 - intro
01:54 - “Peaceful Easy Feeling” [vocal: Jack]
07:14 - “Take It to the Limit” [vocal: Randy]
12:16 - “Already Gone” [vocal: Randy]
17:13 - credits
The Joint was at 8771 West Pico Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Now Founders Ale House.

Randy was a HUGE part of those first few Eagles Albums...without his bass parts and those incredible vocals, they would have been only half a band!!!!!! Man, I was 12 when I first heard this in Moms 1072 Monte Carlo in New Jersey. Mom turned it up and I was mesmerized listening to Take it to the Limit! GOD Rest Randy Meisner!

He's looking a little rough, but he can still sing. I sure missed him on all the tours starting in 1994 going forward. I so wanted him in the band. I saw Bernie Leaden with the Eagles at the Forum on a "get together " tour. Randy was mentioned that he wasn't feeling well...to say the least! Maybe he thought folks forgot about him? Certainly NOT! The Don & Glenn (RIP) 😂show ruled. 3 original members were driven out of a magnificent band.😢

Love Meisner. I’m surprised waddy wachtel let his guitar overpower the song as he really is a talented and experienced guitarist. #1,,,,I love the Eagles. #2,,,,Two of the founding members (Frey and Henley) I do not care for. Frey is dead). #3,,,,They were smart asses. Ego way over the top. They treated other founding members like shit. Don Felder and Randy Meisner. Felder and Meisner were TREMENDOUS assets in the beginning. Meisner could sing circles around Henley and Frey. Neither one of these two excelled in vocals or instruments. This band is Legendary but not because of Henley or Frey other than their song writing capabiities. Timothy Schmidt and Joe Walsh carried the band later in time. Still do. Pardon my name spelling.

Sad story. Randy I think was like alot of California hippies, they can't handle life outside the stage. He was a heavy drinker and drug user. He and his wife were well known to the LAPD for domestic violence calls. She actually was reaching for a rifle to go after him that was loaded and blew part of her head off. Very sad. I prefer to remember him in the mid 70's years. Another case of some one just letting themselves go. Sad.

That jackass on the left had his amp cranked up so loud made it almost impossible to hear Meisner

Ooops - another viewer who didn't bother to read the description: BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THE GUITAR BEING TOO LOUD: The camcorder was in front of the amps. The P.A. speakers were overhead, aimed at the crowd in the room. Be happy that you can see him this close up, in a small club, not some little dot on an arena stage.
