My favorite part? Is where the Preacher reveals. That the Hooker on the bus was his Mother. Because of the Preacher giving the Hooker his blood stained Bible before he died. She read it and accepted the Lord. Then turned around and shared it with her son. Who later grows up to be a preacher himself. 😪 Gives a whole new meaning to that "Train up a child". Such a rich and beautiful song, actually the whole CD is good.
No. No. The preacher was in no way related to her. Where on earth did you get they were related? All the preacher did was give the blood stained Bible to the prostitute before he died. His dying words, Can't you see the promised land? The whole point of the story is God's mysterious ways. That blood stained Bible changed her life. She read that Bible to her son who grew up to be a preacher. That was the message of the song. God works in people's lives for the good at the moment. Not everything is perfect in our eyes but it is in God's.
@@gayledowden5630 The first commenter said exactly what you said, but you're saying no? What? Why are you saying no? Why don't you read the first comnenter's comment again. It was EXACTLY what you said. 🙄 Good grief! 😂
This is why COUNTRY music resonates across generations, because the lyrics make you FEEL, and if you want to be part of a great society, you have to be able to FEEL and that gets you to understand and love others. This song was one of his first live performances AFTER Randy Travis came back from his stroke.
I feel like you missed that the preacher died in the wreck. Just before dying, he gave the hooker his bible. She turned her life around and raised a son that became a preacher.
@@font7690 Actually it can be too late. The hooker was spared but could have just as easily died and it would have been too late. But as long as there's life, there's hope.
My Father In Law was a preacher and he died in a car wreck on his way home his 2nd job at The Post Office, hit by a drunk driver, at 3 in the afternoon, right about the time this song came out. The drunk died too.
The first time I heard this song the chorus made me mad because I kept thinking "what about the hooker?" Then they drop that twist at the end and I fell in love with the song and its message.
Our heavenly father works in mysterious ways. He gifted many singer/songwriters w/talent on loan u might say. His message resonates thru the reaction videos as well. He lets us know of his unconditional love. 👍❤️
I absolutely love your heart. It really means a lot to me when people say I have blessed thier day, just doing what God has called me to do. My husband feel 25 ft off the top of a McDonalds building and now has a TBI. My 14 year old daughter is autistic. And my mom had a brain aneurysm bust in 2014. But, God sure has been in control. You have a blessed day. And praying for you.
I'm from Randy Travis's hometown of Marshville NC. His real name is Randy Traywick. My mom and her sister were babysitters for Randy and his brothers and sisters. My grandparents rented a home next door from Randy's dad Harold. When Harold and his wife went out mom and her sister would baby sit. Randy was bad to sneak off in the woods with his guitar when his parents got out of sight. It would worry my mom to death. They thought he'd run away. Randy was wild growing up.
that song... That song gives be goosebumps every single time I listen to it, and Ive been listening to it for 25 years. I always start crying at "momma couldn't see him, but he was standing there, and I knew in my heart, he was the answer to my prayers".
Never known anyone not to cry when hearing this. Listen again. I’ve heard it a thousand times, and I’m crying now. Love seeing people hearing beautiful songs for the first time.
Randy has such a unique voice. I had so much fun trying to figure out the riddle of this song as a child. It made me love analysising songs as a young kid
My daughter and I were listening to the Randy Travis only version coming home from Florida and when it got to the chorus we saw 3 wooden crosses on the right side of the highway as we drove by. Gave us a more than a coincidence feeling.
this was Josh dream to always meet a sing duet w Randy Travis. They love a admire each other. thanks for your viedos. love Josh's voice a he's good-looking a a Christian.
Well it says that the preacher and hooker were searching for lost souls. The preacher is obviously looking for conversions. But it’s not clear whether the hooker is searching for lost souls as in lost souls to prey upon as clients, or, my favorite interpretation, *her own lost soul.* Which she obviously finds, thanks to the preacher’s speech as he’s dying.
Randy Travis’s vocals are my favorite in country music! His voice is so rich and natural! My favorite songs from Randy are Promises, Reasons I Cheat, That’s Where I Draw the Line, Wisdom of a Boy Spirit of Man, I Told You So, This is Me, Take Another Swing At Me, Look Heart No Hands, He Walked on Water, and his rendition of It’s Just a Matter of Time. If you haven’t heard these or aren’t into country that much, give them a listen as I’m sure you’ll love the voice, message, and music.
This is Chris Ramos from Texas. Love it. Look at Go Rest High On That Mountain. That is an amazing and soothing video by Vince Gill. Brings me to tears when I hear it. I lost my brother 17 years ago. It puts me at piece. Enjoy and God bless!!
@@Modern-Renaissance-Man yes I have. I was driving when it happened. I have come to terms of what happened that night . God has a purpose for me. Music has a way of helping us through bad times. God bless you!!!
There is a video that I thought was pretty awesome of Kane singing Three Wooden Crosses and Randy Travis, after his stroke, surprising him while he is singing it.
I love that you play the whole song without stopping thru it, like the other 1st time listeners do. Oh my Josh Turner, have you heard Josh's Long Black Train? I think you'd enjoy it. He has the most amazing bass voice.
First time I heard this song was in Alaska while on a mission trip. Later I became a trucker and it meant alot then but after the wife and I got married about a year later 1 of the best men in the wedding who was like a brother to me in highschool got killed one morning by an 18 wheeler and now I can't sing the song all the way through any more without breaking down. Mr. Travis wrote the perfect song
I just wanna take a minute to give you all the respect in the world. Love your outlook on music and your willingness to step out and try these things and give these amazing singer/songwriters the respect they are due.
THIS SONG SURPRISED ME TOWARDS, THE END OF IT , WHEN THE PERSON WHO WAS TELLING THE STORY AND SAID THAT THE PREACHER HELD THE BIBLE UP AND SAID "BLESS THE FARMER, AND THE TEACHER, AND THE PREACHER, WHO GAVE THIS BIBLE TO MY MAMA WHO READ IT TO ME " THE HOOKER WAS THE PREACHER'S MOTHER, THREW ME A REAL CURVE WITH THAT ONE!!!
You seem like an amazing person. I love watching your videos and some of the wisdom you throw out. I can tell it comes from the heart. May God bless you.
I love you already and I did subscribe to your channel. Thank you so much for playing this beautiful Randy Travis song and hearing the message of the song. You’re awesome 👏 and by the way you have a very nice singing voice as well! 😁❤️❤️❤️🎤🎼
My friend and I slow danced, in class when this was released, our teachers got mad. So we pissed them off more and kissed each other. Happy early birthday, I miss you. 😭😭😭 Imma just go and cry now.
It’s about grace, the free unmerited gift from God. It’s about redemption and turning a life toward our Savior. It’s about passing that message of love, grace, and redemption to save other souls.
The expression You Can't Take It With You, always makes me laugh. My Sister-in-Law was a quilter. She was cremated. When we put her box in the ground, we had wrapped the box with her favorite fabric. I still have a piece of that fabric and when I take it out and look at it, I smile, because, she DID take it with her.
I understand the meaning of this song but, watching your video and your reactions to videos actually make you listen carefully and realize more. Thank you.
Beautiful and meaningful. Such a lovely song. You are right on my brother. I have made so many mistakes, but I don't believe in regret. God forgave me and now I can use those experiences to help others. Praise God for allowing me to make mistakes and come back from it.
I love Randy Travis's Music 🎶 Since he Started I'm Darrell McQueen from Pascagoula Miss I Sing Randy Travis Music and I can sing just like him. I just Voice recorded Promises
This is a song that tells us that no one is beyond the reach of God. As Christians we spread the Word not knowing how it may impact somebody’s life for Him. The simple gesture of handing a woman of ill repute a Bible led her to raising a son who would go on to leading others to Christ.
Great viewing. I always like to hear what you have to say after a good song. Johnny Cash has a very unknown song. " Ballet of Ira Hayes." If you have seen the Iwo Jima monument then you have seen Ira. He was one of the flag raisers on Iwo Jima. He is the one standing directly under the flag furthest from where the pole is going in to the ground. Cash did this song on an album in the 1960s that I have not met many people that have heard it. The album is Bitter Tears, its all songs about American Natives. Semper FI.
I know you like songs that make you think. Rhiannon Giddens multi Grammy winner, MacArthur genius Grant honoree , (they called her the archaeologist of African American music) wrote a song called At The Purchasers Option that will make you think and make you cry. Her album Freedom Highway. (A Staples Singers song) is reflections on slavery and the black experience in America. She is indeed a genius with a heart and the skills to bring that alive , even to an old white guy like me. She is trying to remind the world that the banjo came from Africa.
You're awesome!! Keep it up. One of my Fav. songs is "The Anchor Holds" by Ray Boltz. I know he's pretty much been rejected by the religious community, but I think he's an amazing singer.I went through divorce, felt so alone for so long and lost all interest in organized religion, but I've always maintained my belief in God and my faith in better things to come in this life and the next. I just find so much strength in this song.
I just subscribed. This video and your talk afterwards has given me the answer to a question I've been debating with myself for some time. It has put pain in my heart and after seeing this and hearing your comments, I now have my answer. So, thank you for helping me, I can't say how relieved I am to have finally made my decision. God Bless you.
a sermon in a song, count your Blessings, not your Follows. in my case the relationship may have been hidden, but the love was there before i saw your first video. kep travelling Your path, not the path that others try to coerce you to. YOU BE YOU. i enjoy your videos young man, please dont stop making them.
God Bless you and yours. You should be a preacher. Your take away is so right. We come into this world and leave it sans material possessions just our mark so to speak.
Randy Travis wrote and sang that song actually years ago and it's a beautiful song and unbelievably Randy Travis left this world young actually I think he was only in his fifties
