Many artists have performed Rang over the centuries since it was first composed in honor of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia. Most qawwals will close a mehfil with a soulful tribute to Amir Khusro by reciting the Rang. In my opinion, the appeal of Abi’s rendition is more about sincerity and soul, as opposed to some feat of musical genius. Admittedly, I am partial to the Rang and will always maintain a soft spot for artists that continue to keep this tradition alive (particularly young western performers like Abi). That said, when someone drenches themselves in the ‘rang’, it is difficult not to be captivated by the performance (or be awed by the sincerity of their delivery). And with a composition as powerful as Rang, its no surprise that an artist with soul is moving listeners across the world despite the limitations of the pandemic. Much love from Canada.

Everytime I play this track especially the video, I'm left in tears. It makes me feel like my soul is "going home". The girl dancing reminds me of a forest elemental delicately dancing in the forest in harmony with everything around, with such grace and beauty. It's things like this makes me bow before the feminine energy of this universe. And ofcourse the passionate orchestra in the back accompanying it just breaks my ego apart, and makes me feel proud of my homeland and people capable of creating such beautiful art in musical and dance form Thank you abi sampa and everyone involved to make this a reality 🙏🙏🙏 I come here when I'm I'm on the beach/desert/mountain/forest and it takes my soul "home"

Not probably the "most traditional" way of rendering a Quwali ... but undoubtedly a very unique and thoughtful way of rendering this great Amir Khusrow composition. Sure brings out some fresh new wine out of an old bottle. Brilliant work done, bravo.

Must also mention that she has a Dolores O'Riordan effect on her voice, where the last note of a phrase cracks up .. that seems to have added some extra flavor in the song.

This is one of the most beautiful and moving songs I have heard in the Indo-Pakistani musical environment. Abi Sampa is extraordinary and the dancer expresses a desire for freedom that could be that of the current condition of Afghan women. This song should be dedicated to them.

Thank you for retaining the true spiritual meaning of Hazrat Khurows' composition. Many in today's time, especially in India, try to strip Hazrat Khusrows compositions of their spiritual meaning and make it out to be a ballad for lovers.

Beautifully Composed...
