I've had mine for about 3 weeks now, I've had zero problems with it feeding, chambering, and ejecting. Loading the mag can be tough, but I have been able to completely load it to 22rds without the loading tool. (with a broken wrist!) The accuracy is just fine, especially for me because I'm used to shooting my 'ol cz52 which is a 7.62x25 and feels like you're holding a 1x4. Since I was used to my cz-52 already, when I picked it up it felt perfectly natural in my hand. 🖐🏼 It's my new favorite handgun!
That would be really cool but I am not sure if they can scale down that gas system to a smaller gun. Plus you would lose to much in power and velocity.
I must say my groupings were a lot tighter than that firing at speed, but I did have more ammunition through it at that point. Did run into some Magazine feeding issues with it getting Jammed. Seemed to be just one of the 5 mags that had this issue, but because there were so many I didn't really get much of a break in on said trouble mag. Sticking a micro red dot on it, and maybe one day will get it suppressed. Definitely super fun to shoot.
I have had issues with numerous magazines; failures to go into battery or extract. I tried many brands of ammunition. Hopefully it's only a magazine issue. For now if I were to rely on a 5.7 for self defense I would trust the FN.
I have the M&P 5.7 and you are 100% spot on with the grip dimensions, it's way too thin. I wish S&W had made it so you could use aftermarket grips with it. Also the speedloader is awesome and makes loading those mags a piece of cake.
I had nothing but feeding issues with mine. If you load the mags over 18 rounds and chamber a round it jams, when mag dropped rounds spilling out of it all over the ground. No spring tension, followers dip down in front leading the rounds to jam on feed ramp. Sent back to smith and wesson, they sent it back 5 weeks later with 2 new mags with same problem and inside of gun filthy and the barrel and sleeve caked in something appears to be bearing grease. Wish I could add pics. Last Smith and Wesson I ever buy. Look deeper into this gun and it's a common problem. They don't care. S+W the new HiPoint.
Excellent detailed review. Love the engineering design and that it is a unique handgun. Love the high capacity. On the fence between S&W 5.7, FN 510 10mm, and the B&T MKII 9mm? For a range toy, etc..
Did you get brass markings on the slide, to the left of the ejection port? Mine did after a day at the range. I'm not sure what the recoil spring is rated at but I might try a light one.
Good morning, Jason, I had heard that 5.7 was being touted by the pundits as a replacement for 9mm. Especially for aircrews here in Oz, well that is what I was told. But the round still remains expensive and feels like a solution looking for a problem. As we have previously discussed the price pf ammo, and supply. I know of chaps who will travel hours to buy the remaining two boxes at a local country gun store. I actually discussed the idea of having a bolt action rifle chambered in the calibre, the gun smith said, why not buy a 223. You wouldn't cry when you lose brass. Cheers
I will add a few comments. Mag spring or mag needs a redesign. After sbour 8 rounds it takes absurd pressure to load! Even with the ersatz mag loader, loading more than 15 rounds is debatable🤔! Also my take down pin moves to the left after 1 round. It doesn't come out- but I would like to see that aspect addressed by S&W. Finally, the grip is unattractive, and as you mentioned not too comfortable. The standard M&P grip is far superior. The grip reminds me of the CZ-52. It functions ok per se, but is just- well blah.
You want to talk about a weird grip on a gun look at the CZ 52. I had one years ago the grip is the same length wise but the angle is almost a perfect 90° to the slide horrible ergonomics
@@thetexasgunvault I traded mine off over 10 years ago. The ergonomics were horrible. Single action like a 1911 with a bad grip angle and huge reach to the trigger. The 7.62x25 tokarev round though had ridiculous penetration. I stacked up about 18" of wood and it punched through all of it. My 9mm and .45 both stopped in the first 6-8"
@@BLINC606 Mine wouldn't load any of the mags without the mag loader. You physically could not push the rounds in by hand. Once the mags were loaded with the mag loader the rounds would hang up inside the mag and not feed into the gun. Nothing to do with weak fingers....
I have close to 500 round so far no problems at all I use the supply loader does an excellent job love the gun had both FN the old and the new had the Rock form psa all of them are good but the this one so far is better for me
Lots of the reviews are great for sure. Maybe I got a dud. I swapped for the Ruger and have been happy with it. Either way it's a fun round to shoot. @@manuelhernandez1757
Are you naive or yknow ...the mp is gas operated pistol whereas the ruger rock and fn are locked breech or delayed blowback lmao..btw the fit spring you see up front between slide n frame ...that's for the gas to expel once it exits ots "relief valve " in the barrel ...some people don't truly grasp physics I see...ps it get hotter than the other 3 pistols because of that snazzy gas system too ...chrono it'll be about 100 fps or slower than the other the ruger or fn ...but again the mps much softer than either of those 2 (due to you guess it gas system)..btw had the alla pistols ...rock always gave the slowest chrono of the 5.7 shooting the same load ...pssss shooting a suppressor will make the heat level rise as well ...for the final psssss -all companies copy and then improve an og design ...colt 1911 everyone n their bro had made one ...glock? Everyone n their vro makes a striker fired pistol ...you sound uneducated with statements like that...n ruger rented the design off fn for their 57
