love to see an update with your own range rover. Maybe showing what it is like to live with: all packed up, driving through country lanes, parking in market towns etc
Fascinating Harry! I've always loved the newer ( BMW ) Range Rovers, but am put off by reports ( Doug DeMuro ) where he purchased a 6 yesr old Range Rover and also bought a 3995.00 US bumper to Bumper warranty..the warrantly spent over 15000.00 in three years to fix tings that just failed! motor that adjusts steering column, horn( at least three times ) etc. Must be nice to be able to afford to fix such machines! Now that I'm retired will have to stay with my Volvo V70 2.5T...really free from failures!..now have 210,000 KM on it and its' 14 years old! Ken Bowes, Toronto

Not for me. The more rugged, square, purposeful look of the earlier L322 which you also reviewed previously is the one for me. I’m also put off by the amount of extra electronic gadgetry (tailgate etc) and LCD controls, all unnecessary features which are just additional things which can go wrong. And the size.. in your previous review you mentioned the extra 200mm width of the new model makes a significant difference when parking or negotiating narrow roads in the U.K. In practical terms, if you live in the countryside that means a lot more bodywork scratches from hedges when passing other vehicles. The new model may still qualify as a “real” Range Rover but I’m very curious as to your honest opinion on how it compares with the L322, especially in your home environment.
As with so many luxury cars, I wouldn't want it even if I could afford it. I have a ratty old Subaru L-series built in 1992 and, without the luxury, does well over 30mpg, has better off-road ability, is very roomy and is perfectly comfortable to drive, if slow. £90k is a fortune for one car when one could buy several good old classics and a shed to put them in for the same price and have more fun as well. I think too if the UK was as poor as Morocco, we'd have sheep on the back of mopeds and on roof-racks too. Good video though. As much as I love cars and driving, I'm amazed at the sums people will spend on mass-produced barges. Perhaps if I were wealthy, all my attitudes would change as we're all fickle in the end.
Me too i would rather drive my 15 year old fiesta than a brand new Range Rover MY ARSE WOULD I My son says if rrs were ten grand each every drive would have two on
"..not as regal as the (previous) model" yes, very much looks like the same Ford Explorer design, it's losing that elite British prestigious input, & that's breaking my heart. this is my favorite brand of all..Rover & Rolls..Lambo & Ferrari..the best in the world...those bad engines in the past, the sells, mergers, just breaks me heart.
This car to me is still way too Cheshire. I have a 2008 Range Rover TDV8 Vogue SE and that is for people who live in the country, which also does the on-road stuff. I still see this current one as a car for the road, hence to luxury interior, but has off-road ability. It looks too fiddly for me as well. It's designed for people who live in Cheshire, and not for people who live out in the sticks. Actually, that's the problem I have with the entire Land Rover range at the moment. That Velar thing is just a load of tosh. The new Discovery looks like a wart quite frankly, and drives like one as well. It's too posh on the inside as well. I want a Land Rover that's a farmer's friend but is also a nice place to be. I want a L322 Rangie, not a car that's for people who live in Altrincham and get their sun tan out of a battle. Surely that's not too much to ask
I totally agree William. I'm Begian and here we say "the 405 is too bling bling'.The l322 is the last of the true Range Rovers, the ultimate mix of a farmers car and a very comfortable saloon. A very comfortable defender so to speak.And I think, when you listen to Harry and seen the video on his own L322, he also prefers the early model.
Old version looks and feels more Range Rover I have bought one L322 ( fantastic car ) and think to buy another one to replace my MERCEDES ML , since I need 2 cars .. I like the new version for his “ chic and chic “ but the old version is just stunning ! You get more for your money with it !! 90.000 is overpriced IMAO !
chello70 You can well afford it now. This was a review of a 2013 model. Yes, new they were 90k, but Pre-owned with a full dealer service history is only 1/3 of that price in late 2019.
@@Alanc419 when is 1/3 less of the price is that means is also 1/3 less enjoyable ? The L322 was also expensive / then prices melted is that means enjoyment have also melted ??
its called a bargain. let the pretentious dorks buy Benz/BMW/Audi to impress people..they know nothing. German engineering is tight, but flawed & overpriced. so for the money, prestige, refinement..nothing compares to sitting inside of a Range Rover. every top drug dealer, playboy, business exec i've ever known in my life, either wanted or drove a Range Rover. they've had Benz, BMW and sold it shortly after. whatever quirks come w/ Rover, warranty, worth it.
..there's been a tradeoff.. the Buick/BMW engines issues of early models, that scared some away, myself included, have been replaced & greatly improved by Ford/Jaguar/Tata, but..I fear this model has been designed with soccer (football) moms as priority. girls don't like science, tech, buttons..but that made Rover's special, an overlander cockpit, now reduced to a cell phone screen & a/c knobs. the quality of the few buttons remaining are cheaper, the frame is lighter, I see some cut corners ..likely a result of it losing more & more of its royal British heritage, each time LR is bought & sold by firms outside of England, those firms just don't care as much, only want to restore profit..so sell to mass of women, they don't care about the tech & buttons, let's cut costs there. they don't care about an ultra-strength steel monocoque, 'its too tall' they say, ' its too heavy'..let's lighten it up for them..it's all to profit from the women, whom, yes, ultimately make the final decision of the family car purchase..but I miss the times when men could men. I for one, being generation Y / Z..growing up, just about every guy I looked up too, the ball players, the musicians, the local drug lords..all shared one thing in common..they drove Range Rovers. I like the design of this model, though Ford ownership has over-saturated this design for their own models, & unfortunately, the entire line of Rover models have the same wind tunnel crossover look of the Ford Explorer, but this Range is the best model they have, maybe the Velar but.. I suppose, someday when the price is a bargain, I'll get it just for the exterior design & Rover brand I've always admired, but its not the L322 nor Discovery II that stole my heart. yet its not plagued with the engine demons that make us paranoid to drive them long distances. somewhere in the middle, lies the perfect model years, so the search continues 'till then.
