Harry's videos are even better when we watch and listen very carefully to what he's saying and the sounds his various drives are making. This is yet another great video! I suspect the reason Jaguar/Land Rover puts the "Range Rover" badging on the Evoque---as opposed to calling it a "Land Rover Evoque"---has to do with marketing. Having been in business with several Rover/Land Rover dealers in the U.S. from the 1960's and early 1970's, and then on my own as a genuine Rover/Land Rover parts supplier, I never thought Rover or B.L. knew much about marketing. Simply put, B.L. and the old Rover Company, Limited before the B.L. days, had no Lee Iacocca's working for them! Evoque is all about marketing. (The Range Rover badging probably adds twenty percent or more to its MSRP. This was/is brilliant!) Inasmuch as I hope to see Jaguar/Land Rover do very well financially, since leaving the Rover business in 1986, and with the advent of the "Land Rover Discovery," I've come to appreciate the fact that Rover has finally learned how to market cars. Even more importantly, they're making a damn good profit in doing so! Well done, Harry's Garage! Andy McKane, 9 January 2023, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii.
Wonderful Videos Harry, I actually stumbled across your channel looking for old land rover videos. I hope you continue on with presenting us with more shows, thank you sir and Carry On
I bought an SD4 Prestige Coupé. I thought it was brilliant apart from a bit of turbo lag. A brilliant design with many other manufacturers copying certain details. A very influential vehicle. Sad though that they have dropped the 2 door with the new model.
I think is a mistake for LR to use the RR branding on the lesser cars. Sport included. A Range Rover is a Range Rover. Its not a Freelander sport or Discovery Sport. As for design , well thats subjective. Im really not a fan of cars i cant place easily. A sloping away bonnet is a problem. I can park my 110 Defender easier than this.I like the driving position in the car but find you cant move around to find an alternative . Its steer or nothing. Not great for a long trip then.
I’ve got a HSE Dynamic D180, on 21 inch alloys, honestly don’t have an issue with road nor tyre noise, some say the ride is too firm as well, however my last car was a BMW 220D m sport Xdrive, so I suppose it depends what car you come from, the Evoque is much quieter and smoother than the BMW
Does the passenger side seat slide forward on that cut down exploder.( Ford over) Just after the divorce. Small scale short, cut roof marketing. Welcome to the world of scalability and survival.
I am sure this is very nice to drive, and it does look different, but why have they called it a Range Rover ? It appears to be very noisy inside, and just does not have the presence of a Range Rover, they should have thought up another catchy name .Very well presented though, as always !
