Always amazed by the lack of sensible ideas when it comes to access points, a simple flap would make all the more sense. Bloody JLR, great film again Mike. Thanks. Fabarooney T Shirts too. 😎

G'day Mike. Maybe... its a bit of muckin around, but cut out the fuel access panel from a D1 and weld that in place. Im fairly certain they have the same pressed floor ribbing.

Some racing cars they have to cut the cage to remove the engine.

There was some drips of fuel coming out the pump pipe when you powered it the second time.

Cood idea to cut a hole in the floor did it with a P38 when changing the remote gear changer cut some of the gearbox tunnel to get at the bolts😁👍

I put a cat flap in the P38's floor, when I changed out the pump.

Mike. Jesus Christ and Hail Mary sir ! This Rangie must be an MY89 model, if it has a lower fuel flap that makes sense with the old Canadian made tin tank ? The switch is for the ZF4HP22 auto, so interlock can be de-activated to start the damn truck when foot on the brake. V

That reminds me of some years ago I had a 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4ltr and the fuel pump died not a big problem you would think but it had been converted to run on LPG with a new metal petrol tank strapped to the round LPG tank there was no LPG place near me so in the end with some careful measuring and a small cutting wheel we cut an 8" square hole in the rear floor job done we thought but the new pump only lasted some weeks and we had to get a replacement I do not get why they do not put removable plates in the first place.

Walbro/motorcraft ford aerostar 90s or chevy corsica from the 90s will work. Thats what Ive used as ac delco are a good unit. The diaphram jobbie is a fuel damper i think.
@BritannicaRestorations
@BritannicaRestorations 3 года назад
Yes I think you are right about the damper - I have one coming tomorrow so I will see what it is like
@stephenmcintosh93

looking at the pumps, one might be like the old 2.5 110 low pressure pump for a carb engine, but the other looks like its for an injector engine... not sure
@BritannicaRestorations
@BritannicaRestorations 3 года назад
Yes as I mentioned at the end it must be a LP 110 V8 pump - no numbers on it

How did you seal it up again to stop it rattling about or letting water in?
@psterling8404
@psterling8404 3 года назад
Hi mike you are much better to put an external bosch pump on a bracket in the rear lh wheel well . You cannot get reliable fuel pumps for classics anymore - they are all poor quality and will fail again. Use a pre and post filter that can be swapped out. If you put in an aftermarket pump it will come back to haunt you - can send you a picture of my setup.

Looks the same pump as my 127 3.5RV8. And I know what it's like getting a tank out and replaced myself. Did it on the driveway. 🥴
@BritannicaRestorations
@BritannicaRestorations 3 года назад
Not as easy as they look on your own, due to the shield not being attached to the tank

Pump is discovery one V8 petrol with carbs (1990 ish)
@BritannicaRestorations

Must be a very early one as they fitted plastic tanks not long after
@TheChristeepher

@@BritannicaRestorations it was a UK “G” reg so I know it was early, I binned the V8 and put a 300tdi in, I still have the pump and use it to empty tanks before removal. I cannot afford newer vehicles😂

Around 4:23 expected you to say you were going to cut a hole in the door to let your leg in ...but no, 10 minutes later you are cutting the gutts out of the floor plan. Way to go go hero!! Just love your Intellect!
@BritannicaRestorations
@BritannicaRestorations 3 года назад
Well, it is a bugger of a job getting these tanks in and out on your own -and as I mentioned if the pump goes bad again then access is easy - I got the brakes working BTW

Hi Mike. I have and 89 RRC 3.5 v8. With the ignition on should the fuel pump constantly run or stop after 3 seconds or so? Mine keeps running but I heard somewhere that any overflow will go back into the tank… is that right? Cheers Phill

Is there a fuel cut off switch under one of the front seats that needs to be reset ?

I have to say _r/woosh!_ on my side - I didn't see it ping off as he ripped the jacket open 'Superman style' to show us the saucy T shirt? Hmmm....Is it 'cos he didn't use sticky back plastic to hold things in place? Was it Mikes cutting ''skills''? I'm afraid it's gone _way_ over my head...which is strange for me not getting the connection, as I'm a Brit still living here in Brit Land and was brought up watching _Blue Peter_ (late Val Singleton days).
