Hi ! As far as I see you are a very clever person and you always helps others to upgrade their cars. It is great ! I am Russian from Kazakhstan and I have also decided to upgrade the audio system in my RRS 2017 from base 380 W ( not Meridian) up to Meridian 825 W. I have bought the set that consists of Amp HPLA-19C164-CDC, Sub +18 dynamics. Now I have got only 8 dynamics inside of the doors. It won’t be difficult for me to change existing ones and add four mids bass inside the doors. The new Amp can also be easily changed under the seat and be programmed by using Pathfinder prog. The problem is how to connect the Amp to the remaining six speakers ( Twitter +mid in front panel, two Twitters and two mids in back shelves) and to Sub under spare wheel. I do not know if there are any wirings from Amp to the speakers and Sub which I am going to install. Sorry for my bad English. If there are some connectors how can I find them? Are they marked? Probably you have got any wiring diagrams for RRS L494 or you can advise the numbers of pins on Amp that should be connected to speakers in front and back shelves. I could not find such info on Russian sites for JLR. Hope on your help and understanding. Best Regards, Valeriy.

Very helpful video. Can you help me to point out the position of the amplifier on 2016-17 evoque. My customer evoque was swimming after heavy rain. The water literally sunk half of the car. After all the cleaning and inspection, the car is up and running again. Now no sound came from all the speaker. I think the MOST is working just fine because all the head unit feature is still accessible. But we believe the amplifier is dead somehow. Some useful links would be much appeciated. Thank you.

@powerfulukltd Many thanks to Dan and yourself on the spreadsheet it helped narrow down compatible amps for my F-Pace. Really enjoy projects like this and especially ones that result from dealerships going "nope not possible in the slightest.... you'll need to buy a new car". Can we possibly see some more content of hardware installation and enabling and installing features through CCF modification?

Hi Power UK I have just got a RR sport 2013/14 new shape. I have bought a full set of super premium speakers, also a premium amp, also a premium sub. I am wondering will I be able to fit all these as my current sound system is the most basic. Will the sub-area have a wire there to plugin too. Finally how will I control sub as on the current screen there is no sub-option... Please get back to me at your earliest in case I have made an expensive mistake. All references are to the 8, 12, 16 and 24 speaker systems...what about the Meridian Premium 19 speaker & Meridian Signature 23 speaker systems...what amplifiers do those configurations use?

Hi Guys... another fantastic video... Please help.... I have L320 late 2012. Amp in boot. Old AMP was HIGH12 just replaced it with PREM16. All functions work but NO SOUND ! ARRRRRRR . They say, work of speakers depends on firmware (configuration), loaded to the amplifier, because different cars have different pinout. So if one take speaker from jag, he should put right firmware for LR to make speakers work correctly (Because of speakers locations, types and etc.)

Hey quick question, you guys seem like the most knowledgeable people out there on the l494 platform. My left reverse light has a short somewhere. It’s definitely not the bulb or the tail light I’ve tested both. Where does the (+) wire lead to into the chassis from the lamp? I’m a trying to find the short and it’s driving me nuts. I want to replace my tails with what you’re selling but first I want to fix this issue.

If I have no sound anywhere, Radio, Door Open, Parking Sensors, No Nave screen, does this mean my Amp is blown or do I have a different electrical problem?

Does anyone happen to know if the base amp has a sub output? I’m trying to connect up a line out converter for an aftermarket amp and sub but after connecting my loc to the rear speaker wires at the amp I don’t think I’m getting a good enough bass signal

If your changing the amplifier to upgrade, such as hi-line to prem, there’ll be no benefit until you modify the cars CCF. I think the red prem label is Harmon kardon, yellow prem is meridian. Green plug is the ignition feed to wake the amp. Grey one which you didn’t mention feeds the IR transmitter for wireless headphones.

I’m confused. So if you swap your high line amp to a higher wattage premium amp will it make a difference to the sound without messing with the ccf? OrIs it just if you add the extra speakers you need the ccf tweek?

What source did you find the information that says the Meridian Signature speakers on your spreadsheet are 8 ohm? I am not able to confirm that this is accurate information. Also the spreadsheet shows the meridian standard 380 and the Meridian Surround speakers are 4 ohm. The information found in topix regarding those speakers published by JLR shows them as 2 ohm 200mm door woofers 2 ohm 100mm midranges and 4 ohm aluminum door tweeters. If those impedance values are correct then the Meridian 770 amplifier which is producing approx. 27 watts into the 2 ohm door woofer at 40hz drops to 6.7 watts by upgrading the door 200mm woofer to the Meridian Signature 200mm woofer. With only a slight trade off in reduction of output for increased sound quality, I am leaning toward these signature drivers being 4 ohm. I know that measuring the speaker impedance with an ohm meter is not an accurate measure of the driver impedance but these drivers measure right about 4ohm. Generally the speaker impedance measured with an ohm meter will be about 15% less than the actual nominal impedance rating of the speaker. That would make the value seen on a multi meter to be around 6.8 ohms for an 8ohm driver.

I just wanted you ask your help please I have l494 with low line amplifier and basic speakers and where can I buy super premium system if you can let me know the speakers part number and also if buy super premium amplifier which is on eBay for £500 but I’m not sure if it will fit on my car and the size ,fitting and connectors are the same and plug and play .I am confused with so many different shapes and size on eBay and not sure if low line and be upgraded to super premium 24 ( 2500 watt ) any help will be appreciated

A quick question as im confused after reading all the comments....I have the basic 8 Speaker set up with the EW93-19C164-CB in my RRS L494 (2015) and I have already upgraded my woofers from you guys. If I upgrade the amp to CH32-19C164-BC Prem 16 (Red Label) will it work properly or do i have to change the ccf files ? (I wouldn't know how or /where to get this done lol)

Currently I have a AUD3-8 (EW93-19C164-CB), I purchased a AUD3-12 (AW93-19C164-AR) as an upgraded replacement. Plugged the new one in and nothing. Can you help with an explanation on why this isn't working? What should I be looking for as an upgrade for my current Amp? Please help.

Hi Anyone knowns if the crossover for the speakers (Tweeters, Midranges and Woofers) are INSIDE of the amplifier? If yes, that means that, on the amplifier, the output for the Tweeters, Midranges and Woofers has already passed the crossover and the cables go direct to the speakers... Or is the crossover somewhere between the amplifier and speakers?

Hi from New Caledonia in the Pacific, my DX23-19C164-BA is dead (sunroof water leak on my L494 14.5) it had the yellow PREM16 sticker, a other written COMTEC below and on side a other sticker with my vin number and a part number BJ32-19C164-B*. Hi I'm having issues with my amp. I had a water leak in the passenger footwell on my l494. The leak is now sorted and fully dried out. As a consequence I've no sound or radio and sat nav and bluetooth modules off. After a diagnostic test the amp is faulty. Is it possible to swap the amp with a compatible one or will it need coding? Any help would be great thanks.

I just upgraded my Mid 8 amp for the Prem 16 amp today and it works perfectly. The only problem is that audio has stopped working for the phone and system sounds. Can anyone help or point me in which direction I should go. Im tempted to just back to the Mid 8 amp and scrap the idea totally and just accept the poor sound :(

For 2018+ L494 owners, the amp location has MOVED from the 2014-2017 L494!! DO NOT BE ME and go tearing in only to find the infotainment control module and the radio module snuggled up next to each other. If you search the infotainment part number J9D3-11E020-AD it even shows up as an amplifier on some sites. It isn't, and you can tell that by the fact that there's not enough wiring for the 8-16-24 channels that would be coming out of the amplifier. The amp is under the seat on the RIGHT side of the vehicle now. So, passenger side for LHD L494s.

Hi, after seeing this clip and the speakers upgrade I bought the speakers off you, a prem 16 purple amp off eBay and fitted them. If fitted the speakers first and was very impressed by the improvement without the amp upgrade! I then fitted the amp which again was an improvement but not massive but, my phone speaker now doesn’t work very well. Bluetooth music works perfect as well as the phone mic. I tried my old amp back in to fault find and every thing goes back to working perfect. I have spoken with the seller of the amp and he is refusing to refund as it’s not the amp at fault it’s the fact I haven’t done a software update or instal. I don’t recall there being a requirement for a software change on your amps or have I got this wrong? Dan

I have a 2014 rrs autobiography which has developed a popping l/crackling noise, landrover have said its my amp, my code is GK52-19C164-BA (so they tell me), at over £1k.... can I fit a different amp aslong as the new amp has a code of 19c164 ??... and is it as simple as removing old and fitting new, so no coding needs doing? Any help would be appreciated
