Good video. I have a 2013 Sport Supercharged with 105k miles. I'm not defending Range Rover, but it has generally held up. No engine check lights, the interior generally looks as it did when new (when clean anyway) and I'm not aware of any feature that has quit working. It still rides great and has retained most of its power. Overall, it pretty much runs and looks like it did when new (subject to a couple of minor cosmetic issues that are not the car's fault). In seven years, I have never had to take it in service other than annual scheduled maintenance and it has never failed except when the battery died (that cost $450 to replace by the way). There have been some electronic quirks however. For example, there was a short period when the hatch would randomly open in after it had been parked for a couple of hours (???). The major downside (and by major I mean catastrophic) is that the trade in value is $11-12k and I paid $72.5 for it new seven years ago. I actually thought I got a good deal (ha!). Also annual maintenance is very expensive, but of course I expected that when I bought it. Gas mileage goes without saying albeit that I generally get combined 16 mpg (I drive like a grandpa). I would not buy it again simply because my financial priorities have changed as I have gotten older, but overall I have to say it has held up my end of the bargain. It is a good luxury car that is great for roadtrips and for doing site seeing on some mild offroad nature trails. It also gives you a lot of confidence driving in snow and bad conditions. I intend to keep it simply because it is a much more vehicle than I could possibly replace for its value although that is a bit of a gamble. Hopefully someone thinking of a Range Rover will read the book I just wrote and find it helpful.

Finally from a real rr sport owner of this era. I have thought about these 2011s-2013s from carmax. They run about 20k to 30k depending on mileage. I may want a v8 which is horrible on gas. Here in the midwest winters, this would be a perfect car. Maintenance is on my mind too, I've owned bmws so i understand these things aint no fords or toyotas. Tires,oil, etc are just expensive. My dads a mechanic.... and someone just sold him this exact Range Rover same year for 7k... the reason the man was selling because the dealer quoted him 20k to fix the timing chain and a few other things... my dad fixed it for $600. I test drove it yesterday and wow. I was shocked at the power this thing has and I have a 2017 camaro ss and I was still shocked. The low end torque is incredible. Threw me back on my seat every time! It looks like it has a smaller pulley on the SC so maybe its pushing more PSI

I had my hands on one as an insurance rental, seriously it was FREE TO ME, for a couple days. I still wouldn’t own one knowing the cost of maintenance but HOLY GOD do they drive nice. Though I gotta say, if you want to actually own something that feels similar but is much easier to work on? 2000s Eddie Bauer Explorer gets you a lot of the way there. I dated a girl who owned a 2003 Explorer Centennial Edition (EB Package plus nicer leather interior) and it was about 80% of the way to how the Rover handled. (I dated her much longer than I ought to have because A. I bonded with her dog; and B. I liked that truck! 😂😂😂)

A body on frame supercharged monster... That font is trademark from RR and in my opinion is the best thing about the styling. Amazing to see a Range Rover who's major fault is a faulty auto roll window Jaguar V8s were good engines there's that. if it was a BMW 4.4 or 4.8.... run away. fast.

Good, informative review. Land Rover was in the hands of Ford at the time of this vehicle's design and I think they had some influence in the dumb-looking font. The driver's window switch needs to be repaired, all windows are express up and down. This particular vintage of Range Rover Sport is based on the Discovery platform (LR3/LR4). It is a unibody on frame design that explains the excessive weight. The current RR Sport moved to the Range Rover platform.

Got to love a Range Rover ❤ 😊 I just got the new diesel super charge with the turbo.. I cannot believe how good it is on gas.. and every feature is really well executed. My only problem is the sunroof and the screen,😢 it only opens from the front to the back and it just doesn't serve the driver.. or the passengers it should have been in two parts. It should have opened back to front or front it's into pieces. But it's really ridiculous how useless it actually is. Add a discovery with two separate sunroofs front and back and it was a much more practical useful option to have two. This the Range Rover sport sunroof is really disappointing.. otherwise incredible vehicle so much improved over the last model. 😁👍💕

Luxurious car inside and out, massive performance from the 5.0l engine and a monster off road. It is an all in one. Range Rovers tick all the boxes more than any other car. The rear passenger space looks a little disappointing for a three ton behemoth but that interior looks as tight as a brand new car. Respectfully mate, I have no idea what you are talking about because I've had this specific model and year for years and they are so UNRELIABLE. The only thing I agree with is that they are fun to drive so I still keep mine for pleasure driving on weekends only. I will even think twice before traveling in it for over 70 straight miles. As soon as it gets to 100k miles, sell it(if you have one) or don't buy it(if looking for a new vehicle), else it will turn into a money pit. I have a mechanic who has a lot of them in his shop for the same issue - OVERHEATING, burnt gasket. You cannot drive a car for a few minutes or even hours and make a short video recommending it to people. Ask anyone that actually owns one for their honest review and they will tell you. I love range rovers, I've had different models but after certain miles, get rid of them. I would never consider that car at 140k miles, even if it cost less than 10k dollars or pounds unless you just want to keep it for pleasure driving as I do.

Ha- I really like the clock and gauge font! Clock looks like one of the Swiss railroad clocks. That is probably the best 140k interior I’ve ever seen. Overall actually seems better laid out/more thoughtful and comfortable than the next gen one.

Haha yea styling is always subjective but I can see the appeal in it as well I appreciate how logically layed out everything is and super easy to read. Yea that interior blew me away as well also felt like a new car to drive. I'm curious to try the new one I know they went to an all aluminum design similar to Jag shaving 700 pounds but I'm not a fan of the new Land rover dual screen thing they have going on. Thanks again Richard for stopping by I appreciate your support!

Totally correct, if you don’t have the budget for covering the maintenance and service costs or if you cannot do the work yourself, any european luxury car IS NOT for you! If you insist on Honda or Toyota reliability, buy a Honda or Toyota. If you trade cars often and require high resale values ... pass on a Rover. You have been warned! That being said, these old Rover give you a level of comfort, power, towing, off-road capabilities, and ride in a package that still small enough to enjoy driving and is easy to park. To get to this level in another make, your going to be looking at top trim level Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Suburban and Ford Expeditions ... which still are not vastly cheaper when bought new and are likely more expensive when purchased used (the maintenance cost will always bring down values on used European makes) and each are much larger SUVs that are much less fun to drive (in my opinion). People who love them ... LOVE THEM and put up with the issues as part of the experience.

Yep don't but without a warranty which are obviously expensive on these cars but still you gotta get one. Driving this was awesome tho I'm just surprised how well this has held up

Thanks! And they don't really care but I'm super respectful with other people's properties so dealer cars I never drive more than 15 miles for a review no need for much more than that

Great cars but buyer beware of timing chain and guide failures. They often grenade these engines. At that point the car is not worth the cost of replacing the engine. Great car but only buy if you can pay cash and could handle the gamble of a mechanically totaled vehicle at any point. Until then you have an amazing machine in every way.

Needs a warranty basically
@86weeman
@86weeman 3 года назад
Those 3rd party high mileage old car warranties are a gamble In themselves. Be prepared to be denied coverage if you can’t prove every single oil change, coolant flush, transmission etc. also the warranties max out the value of the vehicle at best case some even less. If your lucky enough to have a full engine replacement warranty honored most likely they would just cash you out at the blue book value. A warranty might give some peace of mind but it’s not bullet proof. You really need to be able to finically handle a total loss on these vehicles. not saying that’s a terrible thing they sell super cheap these days.

@@wewilltravelsoon2237 Are you saying this model/year doesn’t have timing chain guide issues. Metal and plastic guides all are showing issues. And how is it not an expensive repair that can mechanically total the car?

Haha if it keeps aging like this I guess it could but I would be careful and make sure to pay up for the warranty for this car but it is amazing Range Rovers are not like Jags these Rovers use far more quality materials
