Here's my first build guide video. Hope it helps and don't forget to check the spreadsheet for all this info. (I'm just finalising the recording of the melee build guide and it will be out soon)

Welp now that I know duelist effects thrown weapons I'm gonna have to change all my throwers. Thanks for the tip!

All good :) Duelis is super strong on throwing weapons (but only really noticable on armoured targets, but yeah deleting a hedgeknight or barbarian chosen in a couple throws is so satifying)

I’d say Wind Reader is pretty essential. It’s Op cost is minimal for the trade off it provides

I agree wind-reader is a great and strong perk. The only reason I don't make it essential to builds is because it's not a perk that is consistant on brothers (with dynamic perks on) and it isn't cruicial to make brothers into different builds (compared to things like bullseye, duelist or weapon masteries). I strongly recommend getting wind-reader because of its awesome stats but I can't go as far as saying its vital to make a certain build or that a build won't work if you don't have wind-reader.

How often do you find yourself using Recover? I rarely need it for any build really, and I think it is very bad missing a turn. As a archer you can get over 100 useable fatigue, which last long enough for most fights. Moreover, there a many perks i Legends, which increases your fatigue recovery, and they seem much better (like matching set). They don't require you to take a whole turn off, and with 5 additional fatigue recovery you only add 4 fatigue each turn from two quick shots.

Recover is super useful in long late game fights and I definitely use it, all range builds can benefit from recover. Matching set is pretty sweet and can definitely help certain builds that never get attacked (which can be hard to do but high RD can make this work). I definitely do consider Matching set sometimes when I'm desperate or can't get recover, but I do think Recover is easier to use and works with every situation (if we are just solely talking ranged builds). [Matching set + Iron lungs is pretty sweet, just dont get hit and you're set] I do agree that recover isn't useful early game and I really encourage it to be one of the last perks taken in most builds because the base regeneration of 15 Fatigue per turn can be enough to keep you through most early and some mid-game fights. But eventually you'll get to the point of maxed fatigue (or you took damage with matching set) and now it takes you 2 turns to do everything, thats when you'll wish you took recover :)

You don't need recover on a pure thrower bro. As long as you have enough fat, ofc. There are other options like MoB and Resolve. You can also ignore nimble and go for either a heavy or medium armor build. Both work just fine (back in the pre Ledends days I used to go FAT+m.att+r.att + heavy armor - Runes make it so we don't ever need to worry about m.attack any longer - no orcs will push through our lines as they did in the old days). Berserk and other damage perks are also very, very good to have. But you have claimed the most important ones (duelist and close quarters archer along with the weapon spec itself). Source: me. Been building throwers for years. Even in vanilla and a long time ago, when people scoffed at the notion of throwers being good and I was watching the damage + injuries they did. In Legends they can become even more beastly. But it's harder to have the precise perks we want. Also nice are that perk vs nobles and vs swordmasters. Those enemies come up a lot. Undead are also welcomed, but they aren't usually the strongest of foes, and a couple of throwing axes do the job fine. Cool video, though. This is not me bashing the video. I like it a lot.

Many thanks for the detailed comment. I appreciate the constructive criticism and feedback (and appreciate the non-bashing, and there's no bashing here either) :) I put recover on the pure thrower as I've noticed they need it, for me. This is mainly because I don't intentionally make pure throwers and/or recommend them as a first choice. Throwers are just like melee duelist builds that attack twice a turn and will fatigue out eventually, especially if you get the bags and belts and have decent ammo to throw twice every turn. Don't get me wrong, I constantly praise the damage (and armour piercing for humanoids) of throwing weapons, but the lack of versatility, low range, low ammo and targeting issues as a ranged character, you are basically using a polearm brother that doesn't do as much damage overall and is penalized for attacking anything more than 2 tiles away. Since I prioritise bows, crossbows and guns (that can throw as a side thing) over pure throwing, I use less-than-perfect brothers for a pure throw build because throwing weapons don't need as much to make the build work. The point about heavy armour I agree, I've used a militia in the assassin's playthrough as my first main only-throw and it was great, unless he got hit with some nice ignore-armour dmg. (But I still think nimble is better, and also gives you more Fat) I can definitely see the argument for berserk as the damage increase would be great, as long as you can take care of the fatigue of, often, attacking a third time. Enemy specific perks are great in runs that you focus on certain enemies, but I cannot recommend them in a general/all-purpose build. Finally the MoB and resolve choice is definitely a good idea, and I do that build with polearms and a couple others. Main reason I don't consider it with throwers, is that I think it's not a good attribute to put time and effort into, you already are focusing on RA, RD, Fat and making sure you have enough HP to survive. Adding resolve, MoB and rebound splits your stats too much and costs 2 perks, when recover does all that with 1 perk. Thanks again for the nice big comment, hope you can see my side and how I see pure-throwing builds. Throwing is always amazing, and I hope they continue to dominate your runs :)

@@TheIndomitableSnowman Thanks for the reply. Hey, wait... I don't think you have truly compared the damage potential between a polearm bro and a thrower. The thrower outdamages the polearm bro by *far*. Also, remember that you can perk your thrower and get an extra attack per turn if you get a kill. Also, you can add to this the perks that ignore 20% armor or do more damage to armor (and by or, I mean *and* if you possibly can). Back in the day, when we couldn't avoid orcs from bashing through our lines (except with indomitable) I used to also have a fair amount of m.attk and a one handed hammer. It was actually really fun to see an orc warrior crash through my lines, only to face two throwers who immediately quickhands into two named 1-handed hammers and proceeded to bash the orc's brains in. XD Nowadays we don't need that since a single rune will stop all schenanigans. As for the MoB, yeah. It would have to be on a specific bro with already a lor of Res + some 2 or 3 stars in it - meaning that you couln't really add to fat. 12 combats in the arena for some extra resolve + the sgt's banner make for some good values. Anyhoo, different strokes and all. I really apreciate the back and forth, and look forward to see your other videos. ;)

@@balvsmalvs5425 Thanks again for the reply and friendly back and forth :) Comparing damage potential from builds is a good idea. Solid numbers and calcs could be a good vid to show the differences. I'm keen! *If* you get that 3rd attack out consistently on a thrower, then yes I can agree it's a strong contender for one of the top damage builds. (Looking at the extra armour damage and all that as well) Considering your past builds that could switch to melee weapons, I admire a good hybrid build (hard to produce as they definitely have to win the lottery on the brother's stats and perks). Might consider producing/experimenting with more hybrid throwing builds too. (Anything to bash more orc heads :p ) I'm glad to hear about other builds and different loves for weapons. It's good to see we can enjoy the same game in our own way :)

Why are you leveling Ranged Defense? My experience is that the enemy archers just attack others targets. By putting those points into Hit Points instead they have a higher chance of surviving in the if they are caught off guard in melee and they can absorb a few hits from enemy archers, which pulls a bit of heat from the frontliners.
@TheIndomitableSnowman

Ranged defence is a major deterrant against AI archers and is, imo, vital to an archer's survival. Working on hitpoints may help survive 1 or 2 extra shots but the fact you are an easier target means the extra hp can easily be wasted. Hp to help if melee ambushed isn't usually a problem if you keep on top of your formations, unless you're fighting orc warriors, so I don't think thats super helpful for that reason. Finally, ranged defence is great to powerup wind reader.
