I own both watches, and I gotta say, both watches are excellent. However, when it comes to style and size, the mud master is the best in my opinion. But when it comes to price, readability and usage, the rangeman wins. Simple as that
@@Peterparker-pi2ek it depends on what you mean by practical. The rangeman is smaller and so that might be more practical so certain people. The mudmaster has the extra wings on the back though, and don't have the faulty lugs that the rangeman has, so to me that one is the better choice.
@@derekwalter4238 Those curved wings on the Mudmaster are awesome, every Master of G G-SHOCK should have it. The GW-9400 Rangeman is a disgrace to the G-SHOCK name, the lugs are useless. The only thing holding the bands to my watch now is the bezel (and it is awful)
Thanks for explaining on why mudmaster doesn't have a snooze function. After owning it for 4 months I just realized there's a barometric pressure indication, while in barometric mode press and hold D, top left button, a little baro will appear on top of the lcd display and it'll signal arrows to indicate weather changes and beeps too. I'm still testing if the number of beeps indicates the significance of weather changes, longer beep maybe worser weather.
Rangeman is way more value for money then other one. Rangeman is Gshock's ultimate gift to the world. You can buy more then 2 rangeman for the price of 1 other one. Also i don't like the fact that other one don't have decent display area to fully use the technology inside the watch. P.S - The color selection of your Rangeman is not so cool though for me, i like the classic Black and Red one.
@@MrCarpen7er Rangeman lugs are too weak. The lugs on my GW-9400 Rangeman broke within a couple of years. Good luck trying to break the lugs on the Mudmaster, (you might need to visit a doctor if you try)
I bet you have never owned both a GW-9400 Rangeman and a GWG-1000 Mudmaster. The mineral glass on the Rangeman is of inferior quality and scratches too easily, the lugs holding the strap to the watch case broke within a couple of years, now only the bezel is holding it together. Every few days I need to glue the plastic back together, the GW-9400 Rangeman is a disgrace to the G-SHOCK brand and Casio. The Mudmaster? Simply hold one in your hand and you will notice the clarity of the Sapphire crystal display and the sturdiness of the watch. I have worn my. Mudmaster GWG-1000 for 4 years and there isn't even 1 scratch on the watch face! The watch band has ultra durable and premium feeling checkered texture which is resistant to scratches. You would have to be a fool to buy the GW-9400 Rangeman (since a smartphone has all the features in a GW-9400 Rangeman). If you want a Rangeman buy the GPR-B1000 (its expensive but worth it)
Rangeman is best value for money. Easy readable information like Baro,... G Shock for me NEEDS to be digital. Since i own the new gpr Rangeman and bought the gwfd Frogman i sold my Rangeman 1. But still a classic.
Love your style and reviews. Fortunately I have them both, the Mudmaster and the Rangeman (4 years). Both lovely watches. For serious outdoor activities I more likely wear the Rangeman and during camping, hiking and lighter activities I tend to wear the Mudmaster. Actualy I wear the Mudmaster as my 'Every Day' use watch. I love the analog watches, more tough looking and mature looking. Thanks for this review, gives me more insight about the watches.
One more thing that the differs between these two watches is that the Rangeman has a 24 hours countdown while the Mudmaster has a 60 minutes countdown.

I think it also has sunrise and sunset times, which the GWG-1000 doesn't.
@@MrCarpen7er I own these two (not the exact colour schemes) and I to agree to your point. Rangeman is lighter and pack slightly more features than Mudmaster, and it's easier to access to those function. Cheaper too. The major advantage Mudmaster over Rangeman easy to tell time from the analog design.
@@jouwenlee7829 Exactly. The Mudmaster has its advantages too. One of them is the superior construction. Although the sapphire crystal which is more scratch resistant and makes sense in a mud resistant watch, it defeats the purpose on these type of watches since it can crack after a blow and mineral won´t.
I don’t understand why the Mudmaster doesn’t have a moon phase or sun rise/set functions. The range man at lower price at least has a sun function. It seems these would be integral to a field watch.
Can you please do a video with a g shock mudmaster and green rangeman Earth watch I'm trying to decide which should I get I have the all back mudmaster I'd green good? Please recommend
17:01 "If you don't expose yourself to a lot of harsh environments (...) just get yourself a rangeman". That's like comparing the toughness of 2 bricks. Any g-shock will survive harsher environments than you ever will.
+iconz255 Thats why they named it "MUD"master instead of 'range'master or any name that I fit their purpose/specialty. 😌The key point of interest for this model is in the name. Plus this method is so much better than the previous 'mud-resist-structure'.
as someone who fishes and goes outside to do recreational activities and bike, the sunrise and sunset was a deal breaker as well as the price. so funny though for a watch that comes out in 2013 to be still better than the current models. i love this thing and it's only my 4th day having it. i have a bullbar for it as well but it does leave some marks on my wrist. i do fear for the rigidity of these watches but i used to own watches that copy the model and break. never had a watch of this quality ever.
They both are the same except the mudmaster has sapphire glass . I will surely go for the rangeman because it’s lesser in price and delivers the same features as mudmaster but only drawback it doesn’t have a sapphire glass. . Does the rangeman glass scratch easily?
I prefer the Rangeman because it's lighter, cheaper, has sunrise feature, plus to me it's easier to read (w/positive display), more immediate with less "waiting for the hands to move to position". Simpler. With that said, i still want a gwg1000, well, because of looks! PS- Still haven't seen a video of a Mudmaster (or Rangeman) in actual mud, ok?!?! Who's going to be the firsr?
so what is the most solid Rangeman? because that one seems to be more fragile then the classic one also the mudmaster what´s the price with one in good condition used now 2018?
So far there is only 1 Rangeman on the market. So this GW-9400 is most solid one but if you compared it the Mudmaster, this Rangeman definitely seems fragile. However, there will be 2nd gen. Rangeman that features a Mudmaster liked body, so that should by theory be the most solid Rangeman. Reff. no. GPRB-1000.
The weight of the watch is a deal breaker for me. Comfort is the main consideration if you wanna keep it on your wrist all day long. Not worth spending 2x for better display.
I noticed some condensation in my mudmaster. Sent in to service and they dried it for me, no condensation afterwards. Apparently it passed the pressure test. But they kindly place an order for new watch case. G-Shock highfashion please advise, I got my mudmaster in Japan which I thought is the highest quality, now they would replace my watch case with maybe a Thailand made one. What do you think? Now for the condensation I reckon it's because of wet buttons, and continously using those buttons while wet, forcing water into the gas equalization valve /inlet thus entering the watch. Please advise if I should still have the watch case change. Thank you.
I notice a little fog as well in my Mudmaster after a few while of wearing it. I didn't expect that as well but thats okay, it can't be that bad. I'm not planning to send it away for service yet, that gonna take too much time. I like having it around to wear or just to have a look at.
Well i guess made in Japan is NOT the highest quality... It's a marketing scam. No matter what country it's built in, the quality control is always the same. The japan made factory crap is just a way to rip you off some extra cash.
@@ScramblerMotorcycle Yes, in fact they are weaker than what people say, you could probably break all 4 of them by just pulling on the bands. I would not buy another GW-9400 Rangeman, if you want a good and durable G-SHOCK with a triple sensor, I suggest you go for the GWG-1000 Mudmaster or the GPR-B1000 Rangeman (they are more expensive, but are worth it)
I have casio *digital* LCD scientific calculator , then the luxurious diver G-Shock which also a *digital* display - the frogman , base on the roots of the brand that had been so good at making a *digital* display products I would have to skip for the analogue quartz even though they equipped tough MoVemenT inside plus those quarter twist screw down smart crown for locking & unlocking feel insecure for me ✌
I bought a few different G-shocks settled on t Gw-M5000-A . It was on sale 1/2 price at a Walmart . It’s closing it jewelry department. Still $50 on minimum wage. I like the functionality of the watch but prefer a triple sensor or Bluetooth G-shocks and Atomic solar as the Rangeman has. Any G-Shocks logo have all in one?
Hello friend, between these two models, which one do you think is better? Which one should you buy? Does the rangeman model really have no resistance to mud? If someone else wants to give me their opinion, they are welcome, I need advice
Both of them has mud resistant and both is triple sensor. Both operates differently with different look, different materials, different size, etc. At the end of the day, for me, I'll choose based on my budget first, then choose which one I'm willing to wear based on appearance/functions; I prefer Mudmaster instead. Study both of them carefully in term of how they works. How to use their functions, what do they have or lacks of, then you'll see which one fits to your needs.
@@gshockhighfashion Bro I do not speak English and I already checked your specifications in the official casio store, it was difficult for me to understand various parts of your video, for the same reason that I do not speak 100% English, I have doubts if the mudmaster really brings any special filter to not let the mud pass, or it is something that all gshocks have ... I appreciate your clarification in advance
Every G-Shock is virtually mud resistant. But the GW 9400 Rangeman only has a metal pipe and gaskets on the sensor button. It doesn´t have a complete mud resistant structure like the Mudmaster.
Hi, I think that Rangeman its great, but Ive heard that its lug are very weak, as you said, would you recommend it? Im all ears...Great video by the way.
Well, I have both. Gulfman too. If I have to pick only one that would be Gulfman. You can dive/wash no problem, and you can leave it in dark for months with no problem. For Mudman and Rangeman water do not fit well with their sensors (water can damage sensors...barometer especially) and you have a worry to keep them in light frequently to keep their battery in health.
I think it has a special type of oil covering it. It'll block the water droplets from squeezing through but atmospheric data is still readable. Looks like black tar during disassembly
@@GoldenBlade99 ohhh. neat-o. the sensor is on the outside of the case and it itself is waterproof. i believe and then its sealed with seals and the wire goes inside.
It's interesting that Casio decided to name the G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-1000MH-1A model as "Maharishi" because it is a term used in Indian mythology for guru's who spent their entire lives meditating in the forests, void of materialism!
I own both. I like rangeman more as a daily beater but I think the mudmaster is my favorite. I just like analog better and it's just such a nice design. Rangeman is kinda boring design
There is no "by far the best" in this comparison, both watches do almost exactly the same things. It's just a matter of personal preference if you like analog watch or digital watch better.

On old Rangeman vs Mudmaster i should go Mudmaster all days of the week. (If price is not a problem). But on new Gpr-1000 it´s little diffrent, i own both gwg-1000 and gpr-1000. Love both and they are both Huge watches. But Rangemaster still is larger and have a harder Strap with it´s Carbon on inside so on the wrist the Mudmaster still win. And around here you can get the Mudmaster little less than the new Rangeman so think Mudmaster if you into ANalog is better. Gps on new rangeman is little slow compare to many other gps brands, and very stiff strap if you got wrists that is not so big. One thing i like with Mudmaster is how easy you get into things..Timer,Baro...Rangeman is little more menus and take more time. IF just Casio could make an update for Rangeman to support fast button for things..:)
Mudmaster GWG-1000 is a BARGAIN compared to the CHEAPLY BUILT GW-9400 Rangeman. The mineral glass on the Rangeman is of inferior quality and scratches too easily, the lugs holding the strap to the watch case broke within a couple of years, now only the bezel is holding it together. Right. Just as the stuck buttons on the Mudmaster, the stuck second hand malfunction and the light button problems. A lot of Mudmasters and other ana/digi watches had that problem and had to be returned. My cousin had a Mudmaster in which the sapphire cracked, that doesn´t happen with mineral glass.
gshock highfashion I got a Apple Watch ⌚️ and sick of charging it when I don’t do shit with it I don’t use heart ❤️ rate the only thing I really like is when I use maps it vibrated when I need to take a turn you can’t FaceTime and if you forget to charge it up then it basically a paper weight I was hoping the s shock would just give some basic features at a low cost you can buy a Apple Watch ⌚️ 5 for $500 on eBay smh 🤦🏽♂️
