It really would!!! I have a 2019 Colorado ZR2 with the V6, I LOVE THAT TRUCK. If a Ranger Raptor with a good beefy engine came to America it would sell like crazy... The regular Ranger and even the ZR2 are very popular where I live. My only complaint with the ZR2 is the lack of a more powerful engine option.
@@michaelhornbostel81 chances are as the raptor ranger as a model gets older they will probably add a ecoboost or something as a option especially if they release it to the us market because they would definitely want to dominate the midsize performance pickup
Late comment but there’s been several spy photos of the Ranger Raptor being tested in the US. Possibly gonna be released at the end of 2021 as a 2022 model. Holding out on purchasing a midsize until then👍
Ty Fenwick Wow that is truly a ridiculous mark up, I paid 75k with every option except for the bed ladder step . One thing that I do envy about the Raptor rangers that you guys over there get is diesel engine . A lot of people over here complain that there is no diesel option on the ranger that we just got here in the states .
MARCUSAURELIUS Here in the states US trucks are practically given away. You can get anywhere from 8k to 20k off msrp on a truck normally. A fully loaded Power Wagon goes for about 60k and around the same for a Trail Boss and Rebel. On the other hand we get screwed on trucks like the Defender, Land Cruiser 79, and G Wagons Professional. That are not Imported into the the USA . There are literally tons of companies here that will charge you over 200,000 k usd to rebuild a 25 year old Land Cruiser or Defender that you guys can buy new at a fraction of the price over there lol . I would love to import a Defender or LC 79 but it would cost me more then what I paid for my F150 Raptor.
@MARCUSAURELIUS Shit thats a surprise - you guys get shafted on them even more than we do here in NZ! In saying that we'd probably burn up the savings in petrol costs in the first year! Luckily our diesel is cheaper
@@TyFenwick geez... I can pick a fully loaded one up here in the states for less than half of that! But, I will say you guys get some nice Trucks (utes) over there. Many of which we can only dream of.
Hard to believe I've had my Gen 2 F150 Raptor for 3 years now...interesting to hear your thoughts on the Ranger and how some things carried over between the two versions.
Hi, thanks for the long term review. But let's not forget that several points are done differently in different factories. Like I also have double heated and electrical adjustable front seats. But also less space behind the rear seat backrest. I drive the European version, build in South Africa.
@@leoesposito8762 the whole reason ford made the ranger raptor is because ford could tell that the Europe and Australia and i dont know but i think south america have the ranger raptor as well but all of those places were wanting the raptor so instead of bringing the f150 raptor they made the ranger raptor because those places are already familiar to the ranger and keeps the ford pickup lineup smooth whereas if they had just brought the f150 raptor to those places the model lineup wouldnt make sense becuse it would go from the ranger wildtrak straight to the f150 raptor which is a big jump
Thanks for the video and your comments. I see no comments about the lack of rear A/C-vents. I think that someone at the FORD team goofed up. Likely the same team that approved the 2.0 engines. LOL. Cheers!
At 75,000 km my EGR stopped working. At 77,000 km the torque converter stopped working. Took 2 month for Ford dealership to identify the problem and another one to repair it. I am about to sell the 2015 Ford Ranger 2.2. I encourage all to research thoroughly before buying any new car...especially shiny expensive newly launched toys.
I was just looking at my Raptor parked in my garage yesterday and I thought to myself, "This truck looks just like Michael J. Fox's truck for the end scene in 'Back to the Future' without the light bar". Just more jacked. I think I'm going to get a KC old school light bar now. Great review bud. Keep up the good work. I'm guessing you next mod is a step up on the rear bumper, right side.
Great video, I’m watching because I won one of these last night here in the U.K.! I reckon this could be my perfect vehicle judging by your excellent review. Cheers.
It’s an engineering marvel in terms of what it can do off road. Yes they could’ve gone for a bigger displacement engine but smaller displacement twin turbo diesels seem to be the norm unfortunately. I’ve heard rumours that the 2l is only more powerful on the dyno sheets because of much higher AFR’s. If I had it my way I’d take the blue prints to the TD42 and modernise it.
Another great vid - love the Raptor, just wish it had a more powerful engine 👍 I reckon the new mod is a hard mounted compressor with outlet near the step, similar to your F250 👌
hey mate, great video, thanks for that.. I've had the same one since December 2019. Both seats on mine are fully electrically adjustable. It's great to hear that the Raptor didn't have any major defects with you.
Good, comprehensive video. One con i would add is the lack of some tech. Obviously depends on what your using it for but some of the tech it misses out on that the Wildtrak gets is disappointing. e.g adaptive cruise for highway driving
I'm happy the ranger I got (Canada so not Raptor) has a 3.5 ton towing capacity. The little 4cyl 2.3L turbo with a 10speed handles that weight like nothing
Mine 36,000 km mileage and faced issue with the actuator driver and passenger side. I heared the same from other owners. Ford must address this. Other than that, all good.
New subscriber mate. I've pre ordered the 2022 ranger raptor. I was trying to come up with a personalised plate, I typed in the bbrptr (baby raptor) or even the 88rptr seeing the new ranger raptor looking like the f150 and I was like damn it's taken. And what a coincidence, you got the plate lol. I endup reserving BBF150 instead 😅
@TyFenwick it's great to see reviews after people have had them for a year or so. I'm looking at buying a used one so this review was so valuable. Much appreciated
damn bro, all we got is the basic ford ranger work truck in the states, this one looks bad ass. if this comes out in the states it might be a good competition for tacoma.
The F150 Raptor here in the states has those 3 amber lights in the grill for a legal reason. It exceeds a maximum width requirement by our department of transportation that states any vehicle over a certain width (which I can’t remember what that width is but it exceeds it ) must have those clearance lights to warn other drivers a wider vehicle is oncoming. It’s why all our dual rear wheel pickups have them on the roof. The F150 Raptor wider track width and wider fenders actually place it in the same width categories as dual rear wheel pickups and class8 big rigs. Stupid but that’s why the lights are there on the US Raptor. It’s law.
Very good Video! Good to hear that you had no issues whatsoever with your truck in the first year. I own my Ranger Raptor since August 2019 and i am very happy as well. 2 things i dont like so much at mine are the gap dimensions at the front bumper. there is 1 cm difference between the fender on the left side compared to the right. Another thing is that the headlights just went dark last weak (excuse my bad englisch if got some words wrong). This will take 2 days to fix and even though the costs will be covered by Ford this kinda annoys me. But like i said, i am very happy with this truck and we are planning a nice road trip (3.000 km) in the summer. All the best from Austria!
I checked out the Ranger Raptor when I was down under last year.... Yaa , I have owned and love Rangers.... I would buy one in a heartbeat if Ford brings this version of the Ranger back home to the US>>>>> I also think it will outsell the the big brother Raptor. Either way....FORD bring it home!
Many thanks bro from here, the far away Belgium/Europe, for your nice and honest video review ! I have exactly the same (same colour) with a bit more then 4,000 km now. And OMG. That car, in fact 3 cars in one I would say, I love a lot, even city use and long distance on high way too. The only negative things for me : the steering wheel feels very indirectly and in "sport" modus it should be reacting more DIRECTLY (city or high way use). And the interior ...Hmmm....Maybe there is a bit too much vulnerable plastic ? For the rest : a great car . So thank you Ford for bringing it also to Europe!
Good honest and balanced review. First vid of yours I've seen. Thumbs up. I will look for more. My sole negative is its a ute with a tiny motor, it ain't a truck, but hey its yours, carry on calling it whatever you want.
BTW all, Ute? I know that the AU/NZ's like to use that term. Cool! Trivia: The first popular pickup truck was the Ford Model T Runabout with a pickup body. It was factory produced by Henry Ford back in 1925. Stay virus free!
The raptor not having a gas engine is basically the one reason I am ever gonna get myself a truck. In the US and AUS (if it's the same there, idk) where gas is dirt cheap it might not matter, but here in EUR gas can be expensive as shit (although there's also big differences here as well)
Stop/Start can be turned off permanently with Forscan (quick/easy) or just put it into sports mode while moving and it turns off the stop/start automatically (until its put back into park)
I'm in America. We cant get the Ranger Raptor. We have the f-150 Raptor. I dont see why ford dont put the Ranger Raptor in the states. It has the market for it. We have the Tacoma TRD pro , jeep gladiator Rubicon, frontier pro4x, Colorado zr2. We need the Ranger Raptor
Funny you should mention petrol variant, XLT in the USA gets a 300 horsepower petrol engine with the same 10 speed auto you have. Towing capacity, well I'm sure you looked at the specs before you bought that $85,000 Ranger Raptor. 3.2 litre 5 cylinder is tried and tested (better for towing if that is what you really want). Ford used to make decent cars once for Australia.
Great honest review mate, I just don’t like the bumpers in them, looks like a big chin. Touch screen panel display interior looks outdated. Other then that I love the look of them, considering to buy one 🤔
I rarely use the touch screen panel's interface since I always put on Android Auto. Having it as a daily has been really great! 10 months in and no problems so far.
Hey, can you make a playlist of videos of your car builds. Or maybe an update video of all your rigs. I am interested in your choices of rigs. Keep doin what your doin, cuz your doin great.
2 questions: - Stock Fox shocks are comfy enough for both driver and passengers? (at least better than normal Rangers?) - 35" tyres got no issues at all when in full turn/ jumping/ off road riding ?
Great vid. Thanks mate. But compared to the hilux... I dunno I'm in two minds. I've always loved hiluxs ever since that episode on top gear where they tried to destroy that Toyota and it just kept on going.. I do like the raptor visuals... But then I look at the F series raptor and it suddenly looks a bit small.. I dunno I wanna buy a raptor but the hilux with large tyres and heightened suspension kit is such a beast to look at.. I'm in two minds. Don't know what to buy. And i have heard that there are hybrid hiluxs on the way in 2022 or 2023 I think. What do you recommend pal
Hey mate, I get you’re in two minds right now... my personal opinion or what I would choose it the Ranger Raptor, the engineering under that thing is second to none. The Raptor is a completely different vehicle to the standard Ranger. The suspension in the Raptor is already handled for you to do what ever you like plus it has factory warranty. The hilux is a great Ute no doubt but the Raptor has it over all dual cabs for a turn key off-road ready rig. Go test drive one and comment back to me 👍🏼🍺
Thank you, very encouraging review. Me too I cannot stand stop-start "feature", i will probably get one of these Auto Start / Stop Eliminator for ranger when I get mine.
Better off looking into Forscan. You can do a lot more modifications to the ute for e.g. the double beep as you exit the ute with the engine running and key in your pocket, Auto Engine Stop/Start, Vehicle Chimes as you open get in the car/turn it on etc. www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/forscan-crowdsourced-wiki.2008/ obd2australia.com.au/product/obd-aus-forscan-bluetooth-obd2-scan-tool/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7Nmf28ax5gIVRoWPCh2v0gosEAQYASABEgInQ_D_BwE Something to consider.
@@TyFenwick Thanks Mate. Would be nice to see you review first gen with highest possible mileage available in your area to see its condition. I have mine but still around 38k un mileage.
Biggest Con from Ford was using small capacity Asian powered 4 banger. Performance is measured by type of shock absorbers fitted. Take the shock absorbers away and the Ranger Raptor is nothing more than a slow trade Ute.
In saying that you have all chassis engineering plus control arms, there a bit more in that ranger then just shocks. But I agree the engine should of been more of a wow factor !
Ty Fenwick you’re right. Should have stated suspension is what represents performance for Ranger Raptor, and yes, asian designated engine is big disappointment in comparison to NA Raptor engine offerings.
Thanks for sharing mate, i got my blue one so far me and my family really love it, do vlog for offroad mate using all modes, cheers and stay safe. Hook up done
I'm contemplating on getting a bi-turbo 2024 Wildtrak. Our family has had only toyotas and we've never been stranded in the road or have had to leave the in the dealership for repairs. Do you still have your 2019 bi-turbo raptor now in 2024? I wish you could share your maintenance logs :D
I’m looking to buy my first ever ute and going to be the family car with 3 kids - 2 needs car seats. Currently driving a Q7 (2018), but wanted something can do bit of off-road, during school holidays. Comparing 2020 raptor with nextgen v6 Wildtrack. What would be your thoughts in terms of practicality and comfort?
I find all utes in Australia so damn gutless. You step on it and they make a lot of noise and nothing happens. My work truck is a 2.2L Diesel turbo Ford Ranger and it's..just...sad. I previously had a Colorado as well and they are just as bad. But to be fair, I am used to twin turbo V6s in Canada haha
Kyle Juelfs I’ve got 3.2l Ford Ranger, I. Very happy with the power and torque, there are more powerful utes on the market but they’re a lot dearer and don’t more than what mine does!
After 12mos and you still love the truck like it’s brand new. Now I can make a good decision to get the Raptor. I was torn between the Raptor and the hi-lux. Thanks for the review very much appreciated. Although I live in America but have a place in the Philippines. Thanks again bro! Good luck to you and your family 🌴🏄♀️🌴🏄♀️🌴🏄♀️and of course your channel.
