A video talking about what to expect for the 12 mile ruck march during RAP week, approximate ruck weights during each phase as well as one approach to training for the ruck.
I had two weeks notice going to to school from 2/75. They just trained "non-tabbers" to be ready on any given notice. I never thought about standing all week, but now that you mention it, you're right, you don't sit down during RAP week. You're always dumping bags and packing them, or loading a connex or something. No rest in RAP week at all. I went a long time ago, but I agree with it not being a sprint. You have to think long-term, especially on the timed/ graded events. It's pass/ fail, no one is impressed if you beat the standard. Even when you're getting smoked, do your 10-15 push-ups and go to the rest position. Then when they ask if you want to quit, you just yell "negative Sarn't" as loud as you can and do two more. Man, I wish we had google before I went, we barely had the internet. The benefit the Regiment has is tribal knowledge. Every leader went to scholl before you and give you the great tips and tricks beforehand.
Thanks for the support. When I made the channel it was my goal to provide people with realistic insight into Ranger school and to help them see success.
Will you please go over the 5 mile run? My selection I am prepping for has a 4 mile and 1.5 mile timed run and running is the only issue I have. I’ve tried everything and am 24 turning 25. Not trying to be home any longer than I need to be and trying to get prepped for selection. Awesome video.
I have 2 questions about the ruck. How do you remove the water from your back so you can drink it all when youre rucking? Do you ask a buddy to unstrap it for you while youre moving? And my second question is how do you put on the waist strap when youre wearing your FLC or TAPS during the ruck?
As far as the 2 two quarts on the sides of your ruck you basically have to remove the ruck from your back and set it on the ground to get the water sources out, or just have a buddy unclip them and hand them to you while walking so you don’t lose a ton of time stopping. The camelback bladder inside the ruck you’ll want to route the hose along the shoulder strap So you can drink that while moving. The best way I’ve found is just to hoist the FLC/TAPS up and clip underneath it. Trying to go over is just going to cause a lot of movement and irritation.
There are A TON of questions about RANGER school that I wish I had the answer to, unfortunately it’s just one of those things where you do as you’re told. But I believe the idea behind the quantity of water is to establish precedent. You carry the same volume of water throughout the duration of the course.
I thought the same, but I was recently back on Fort Moore (Benning) and I drove the route out and it was a true 12 miles. But those hills at mile 3-5 were rough
