Few cars have the sheer road presence of a Range Rover Vogue. Our 2010 TDV8 Vogue stands tall and dwarfs other road users. It is finished in metallic Ipanema silver with stunning 19" alloy wheels and aftermarket side steps that give the car real road presence. As you can see the car looks superb with classic Rangerover lines and a muscular body which is complimented by the attractive colour combination. Vogues come with front and rear parking sensors as well as a reversing camera (very useful during tight manoeuvres). This particular car has been my own personal vehicle since January and is registered in my name, and is in daily use.
This is a car which glides along with limo-like ride quality, yet it also has Rangerovers superb terrain response system which allows you to adjust the cars ride height and 4 wheel drive system to best suit the terrain. Power comes courtesy of the 268bhp, 3.6 litreTDV8 turbo-diesel powerplant which offers the power and refinement this car deserves along with reasonably good (we averaged 30mpg) fuel economy. Thie headline figure for me with this engine is the colossal 640 n/m of torque - more than many supercars and transmits its power via a slick 6 speed ZF automatic gearbox to all 4 wheels (permanent 4 wheel drive).
There is no denying that this is a big car - Not only does it look large and imposing, it feels large and imposing when you are behind the wheel. You sit high with a commanding view of the road - Even drivers of large MPV's and other 4x4s have to look up to the Range Rover driver. The experience is one of the ultimate in luxury - From your elevated position, looking down on the world you can, quite rightly, feel isolated in the double-glazed Range Rover. The seats are generously proportioned and superbly comfortable. Both front and rear seats have electric heating and the front seats benefit from electric memory adjustment to ensure you have the perfect driving position. Stepping up into the interior of the Range Rover is like stepping into a different world. As you would expect the ride quality is in a class of its own and whole car feels very smooth and refined. Few cars are as comfortable and relaxing to drive as a Range Rover and with the cruise control set to 70 you could happily cover continents in this car.
In keeping with its position as a top-end, luxury car, our Range Rover has an extraordinary specification. It feels more like a Bentley to drive than it does a typical 4x4. The car glides over road imperfections with ease, and isolates you from the outside world - reminding you that you're piloting something rather special. It is of course still a big car but thanks to excellent visibility it is much easier to drive than you might expect.
