scene I've always loved :)
"Take adventure, heed the call now before the irrevocable moment passes! It's but a banging of the door behind you. One step forward, and you're out of the old life and into the new. Then, some day, when the cup has been drained, and the play has been played, you can sit by your river with a store of good memories for company."
THIS FILM IS NOW AVAILABLE ON DVD. THANK WARNER ARCHIVE AND BUY IT FOR YOURSELF :)

This scene always made me feel heavy as a child.

The sea rat has a point. He is merely telling Rat he should enjoy his life as much as he can because at the end of the day you only have one spell on Earth.

And what you do with your life will benefit you as you reflect on all your wonderful memories.

Beautiful scenes like this are just more reasons to prove this is a vastly superior version of wind in the willows.

Prefer the Cosgrove Hall version more. They even devoted an entire episode to this.

This is the closest anyone has ever come to accurately putting this book on screen. It's wonderful.

You know the sea rat has a good point. I'm 27, and I've been thinking of my life lately. I'd like to think about making some memories out in the world myself. Making new friends, seeing new sights, learn a new thing every now and again, and maybe just maybe I'll meet someone special. I know this is kind of a dumb thing to think about, but I'd like to do this for myself and benefit on it and give me a new perspective on life.

I picture myself an old man on his rocking chair by a river thinking of all the fun I had in my youth, the adventures I had.

Paul frees died in 1986 so if he is in this movie and the movie came out in 1987 this most have been dedicated to him before he passed away

It’s american tho. The best adaptation should be the best British as Wind in the Willows is British.

The Cosgrove Hall version captures the spirit of the books the most.

+DW4Ever91 you're most welcome, glad you enjoy it! Interesting, I didn't care much at all for the Disney version (only saving grace for me were the weasels and their animation), but it was probably because i watched this version first so it became very definitive for me. Saying that, I also really enjoy the Cosgrove stop-motion animation too :)

That's Paul Frees as the sea rat.

does anyone have a sense of what accent Paul Frees is doing for the seafaring rat? parts of it sound Scottish, parts sound like his voice for Boris Badenov, parts sound sort of Welsh...
