Hard disagree on the Majorette's E-rank. Especially the "out of proportions" bit. Thing is that Majorettes are not necessarily 1:64 - they are in different scales, and the real scale is almost always written on the base. It's made so that all of the cars are more or less the same in volume (same thing with Matchbox btw), and I can see why you and other people find it unappealing, but that also isn't necessarily bad. Just like I don't find Hot Wheels bad for not being true 1:64 - 'cause it's their style. I don't know how it is in Asia, but in Europe Majorettes are the best value for their price. Especially Majorette Deluxe: in Ukraine (which is where I'm from) for $4,81-$8,57 you get a model with rubber tires, opening features (oftentimes multiple, like hood AND doors), suspension and a box (which, I can agree, isn't well-designed at all - I love their collectible cards from the Premium line much more). Some of the newer ones even have metal bases! So for me scale isn't an issue, not only since I collect different scales, but also 'cause when it comes to HW Premium - their retail prices here are $13,41; Mini GTs are in average $16,13. The thing I can agree on though is that Majorettes don't have many interesting castings. Or rather many interesting paintjobs - these are oftentimes really boring even when the model itself is good and unique to Majorette. So, just like Matchboxes, Majorettes are fun to collect only in addition to something else (like Tomicas or sometimes Sikus). I'd personally give Majorettes a C or a B but definitely not E.
i feel that matchbox could me higher because the matchbox basics have been great recently and all the new casting this year are liscenced. rip majorette
Well that's unfair for the rest lol. Mini Gt and Inno64 are just the most detailed and very good priced brands that no one can stand against. Sure we like talking about the other brands like Matchbox, greenlight but no way in heaven will they ever be better value than a Mini Gt, unless they do a brand overhaul and really put the Detail for the price of a mini gt which is mostly 12$ a piece
I respectfully disagree with some of your ranking. 😉 Hot Wheels is way lower in mine. I would give Matchbox and Majorette a B grade. Just wish Mattel would give the orange brand more love and money to expend their product line and quality. There is so much potential left on the table for Matchbox and it is very unfortunate. I agree for Mini GT. Greenlight have huge quality control issue.
Mr King! Thank you for the input 🙌 So true on the point for matchbox.. theyre mainlines are better than hot wheels but thats as far as it goes for me. Hope they learn to explore new things just like their siblings Hot Wheels
Vintage is always better. My favorites are the 1970s 1:66 models from Schuco, Speedy, and Penny. As for modern brands, MiniGT and TLV are tops in my opinion. I would have flipped Hot Wheels and Matchbox on your rankings.
Thanks for the comment 🙏 I feel that Matchbox mainlines are definitely better than Hot Wheels. However, they're not as active in their marketing and do not have any special lines such as RLCs, team transport, etc. The Mattel Creations Matchbox cars cost 20USD which is stupidly absurd because theyre essentially matchbox premium cars in cheap acryllic cases
I agree with the vintage statement. I mainly collect vintage hot wheels from the 60s-70s. I can spend hours at a time researching the variations and minute details of each casting and I love it.
Unpopular opinion but coming from a collector who is just a little newer as I only collect diecast cars from time to time. I generally prefer Tomica compared to all the ones in S tier. This is not to say that they are bad even I don't own them, far from it in fact but they just don't really appeal to me because the car selection isn't great (although understandable since they are newer) and I prefer my cars to be plain than just logos plastered over most of the time. So in this aspect, Tomica wins for me although don't take my words as gospel.
I remember watching the older video of u ranking them . 17:45 , Yup he did and I bought the blue 918 Spyder . (Nowadays , I still collect "some" hot wheels but I'm slowing looking at like Mini GT , Pop Race and Kaido House) I do agree with ur opinions
Drifter D your right. Micro Turbo and Peako are literally expensive but extreamly detail and has a rolling wheels so it be playable. I can't wait for Peako's TRD MR2 2000GT SW20. But the winner among all of 1:64 is PGM with One Model. but they are super expensive. we talk about a high end price above Ignition Model 1:64. They are the High end of 1:64, I call it the rolex of 1:64 diecast cars. (The Monalisa diecast art) but that's a price you pay for a full detail full opening feature and rolling wheels in a 1:64 scale. I'm so excited for my blue Nismo Skyline R34 GT-R Z tune by PGM x One Model.
I agree that Hot Wheels has gotten a bit lazy. Especially with the F&F line where they re-release identical versions of former releases. However I’d say their detailing has gotten significantly better over the years, even for their mainlines. Remember the first Car Culture sets where only one out of the five cars would get proper details? I’m so glad they don’t do that anymore. Pretty much all their premium cars get premium-level detailing, and I also think they’ve gotten better when it comes to proportions, wheels and printing-techniques. As for Johnny Lightning, I’d say they’re a tough brand to rank because their quality has changed a lot over time. In the 90’s and early 00’s, Johnny Lightning was in their prime. They basically set the standard for Greenlight, and all those other similar lines. Their classic muscle cars from the Playing Mantis era were honestly some of the most beautiful die-cast cars I’ve ever seen. But after they were sold off to TOMY, they lost their edge, and the brand faded into irrelevance.
PosterCars brand review please, theyre getting attention here in the PH because deym for the price its got a nice display case and man its so detailed!
I would usually not give attention to new brands that are cheaper than Mini Gt but Poster Cars really impressed me, I got a deal from ebay that was about 4$ a piece plus the shipping and I bought like 4 for like 25$ and they were really well detailed and painted, and they even came with a stackable awesome Acrylic display!! I just wish they had made a silver 918 spyder or that they made more castings since it's been like 7 months and nothing has even been announced!
Hey bro, thanks for this tier list, I just start to collect diecast and confused which brand should I buy first. My friend told me that MiniGT is the best right now so I bought some, and one of them is Kaido House R33 v2, and I love it. Gonna get other brand first to compare them myself.
I modify many Match Box, Hot Wheels, Maisto, Auto World 1/64 into my electric slot car racing AFX & Tyco 440 X2 Chassis’s, Yes all look A+ … Amazing when you can turn a diecast model into a racing machine on a race track. Having a 70’s Camaro Mad Max Style or Mustang Shelby 💥 smash a pretty boy Lamborghini , is very entertaining than just posing on a shelf.✨👍🏻
started my diecast journey and i have my attention eyed towards mini gt, pop race, tarmacs works. Inno64 can potentially be in the S tier if their casting can roll. such good details and design accuracy is highly detailed.
There are way too many diecast items to collect & money is always a scarce commodity. So, you will need to concentrate on a certain genre & focus on collecting items which will have big potential & appreciating future value. The easiest to collect are Hot Wheels ie. mainline or basic. They are the cheapest, very easy to customise & can be traded like US$ (ie. acceptable all over the world). Next up are the Hot Wheels Premium lines eg. Car Culture, Boulevard series, etc. Although one has to be very selective in picking up the ones which have desirability & leave aside the peg warmers. And Mattel are prone to recycling their diecast models every now & then. After Hot Wheels, Tomica are desirable in both basic & premium. They do a lot of JDMs especially Kei Cars & Japanese only models eg. Leopard, Century, Crown, Majesta, etc. Tomica are very popular in the Asian markets. The next step up will be a big one for collectors. Their prices are double or triple over Hot Wheels Premiums & Tomica Premiums. These brands are Mini GT, Inno 64, Tarmac Works, Time Micro & Poprace. There are also many other upcoming brands. Most come from the same factories in China. They are releasing multiple models every few months on pre-order basis but things often get delayed. Pre-orders have a nasty habit of creating insatiable demand such that people pre-order, pay a deposit, then find themselves making excess orders & not able to pay up in full when the models come in. And they often come in at the same time. To be a successful collector, one needs to be discerning & be a very particular collector. Collectable genres are JDM, Supercars, Race & rally heroes, Entertainment lines like Batman, Fast & Furious, Forza, etc. Special lines like Tooned series, certain Fantasy models & iconic stuff like Beatle's Yellow submarine, Star Trex USS Enterprise & Star Wars spacecraft. That's why I say there's just too many things to collect but money isn't enough!
I bought an era car lexus lc500 and the back had very thin paint on the rear exposing the metal and the left door wasnt painted at all it was just bare metal and i couldnt even get my money back because i bought it at a market for around 15 dollars
The Re releasing of castings is what got me to stop collecting mainlines 2 years ago. Love your content lately i can relate for sure Deffinitely moved on to better brands
I have two kaido house cars right now..... the blue fairlady Z and the silver R33. I earlier thought that they are kind of unreasonably priced but after owning them I genuinely feel like they are money well spent🔥🔥Can't wait to get my hands on the NSX they will be releasing in 2024
I would have Inno 64 in Cat S alongside Tarmac Works and Mini GT. Those are the best bang-for-your-buck brands. In my experience Pop Race don't measure up to Mini GT. Opening features lack authenticity and spoil collector-grade castings, and are best left to Matchbox. Great video 👍
Your own opinions about all the popular diecast cars is very important for the market and the hobby! As a high end Hotwheels collector I'm seeing the same thing.....Hotwheels is very very hot in U.S. now especially RLC's and Super Treasure Hunts. I'm over 6000 carded .....and still buying?
Maybe for the USA, the Elite64 has the same price like a Hobby Japan Modell and the HW Premium is the same like a MiniGT, why should i buy a HW if i can get a better Modell with more Details and better decals? Greetings from Germany.
matchbox firetrucks are really smth, and i wouldnt put hot wheels premiums above tomica premiums, not with painted headlights and plastic wheels you dont place them at greenlights level. hot wheels is definitely much lower
I agree with pretty much all the ratings you have given all these brands. One exception is Majorette, which I consider equivalent to the Tomica mainline. They do not claim to be 1:64 scale as on the base, just like Tomica, they actually put the scale on the base. And just like Tomica, they are toys before anything hence their chunkyness, to reduce the parts that could break off and being able to be addressed to young children. I would have ranked MBX higher but that's just because l love seeing mainstream cars that just don't get cast as often. M2 doesn't interact all that much on IG for example, but they do put out challenges and do feature diecast photography from their collector base. And Maisto 1:64 are actually pretty popular here, with several lines from cheap fresh metal to Maisto Design premiums, good bang for the buck IMO. Great overall assessment, there are a couple brands I've yet to get a specimen of in my collection & I definitely will take your rating into account on my future purchases. Stay safe buddy, hello from Canada!
@@marcbaur677 oh for sure, the best example is the Minis from both HW & MBX. Compared to the true 1:64 versions from Greenlight or Schuco for example, they are HUGE! Lately though most new car casts are in the 1:6x scale and display better now than they did before, although I don't think that applies to trucks in mainline.
My criteria for cars that I collect is very similar to yours as outlined in this ranking. I value established brands, price point of $30 or less, licensed cars and liveries, variety, a reasonable attempt at proper scale accuracy, and graphics detail. Given those factors, for the brands I collect my ranking would be similar to yours. 1. Tarmac Works is excellent when it comes to detail, price, variety, licensed, scale, and a well established brand. 2. Mini-GT to me is a close second place to Tarmac Works but they do not have a value or premium lines such as Global 64, Hobby 64 for example. 3. Auto World has great bang for your buck wide selection of US cars and trucks 4. Hot Wheels has a very nice variety of choices for collectors of all ages. 5. Kaido House they make amazing cars but just are a little bit oversized for their price. 6. GreenLight has a nice line of police and movie cars but are hurt by quality control issues 7. Matchbox they are good at everything but do not stand out when compared to the other brands
I agree with you Mini GT, Pop Race and Tarmac Works are currently the best brands but Inno64 deserves to be in class S too. In fact they are the only 4 brands that I collect.
Bro i feel like my mind has been put out accurately in this video. I started collecting around last year and started with mainline hotwheels and some tomicas. I also bought 1 inno64 that time which i had no knowledge about. Apparently the Civic ferio SI is 4 times worth its price now 😂 Anyway after that i was introduced to mini gt and tarmac and i have never looked back at tomica, matchbox and majorette ever since. I still get some mainline and premium hotwheels occasionally if its a decent casting and a favourite of mine. Currently i prefer inno and tarmac and mini GT in third place. Its crazy how some premium hotwheels are beyond the price of inno event car. That was the main reason that made me stop collecting hotwheels.
@@H80. For USA at least, its now $1.24 for basic, almost $3.97 for a themed basic, and almost $7 for a premium, lmfao HW is laughable at this price point
Am like you bro. Started with HW 3 years ago. Now it's getting bored and too many release and repeat. Unless you reseller or make some extra money, it's good collection. Price for culture and premium same price or higher than Mini GT here in Malaysia, but MGT details are awesome.
Even their premium line isn’t so impressive, the wheels are 2.5D (no holes/see through parts) and mostly no mirrors, which is not up to standards with new brands such as Mini GT
My 2 cents I agree with everything but hot wheels has so much variation it's crazy. Has something for everyone. A class for sure. But you need to understand are you collecting replicas or representations of real cars? Hot wheels are a great representation of really cars, not actually replicas.
Some models are fine, some aren't. The Ford GT Mk. II is one example, almost all units I see have the wing pitched backwards (it's supposed to be level).
Micro turbo makes no cars that I like and they are too expensive for the US market, Inno 64 makes cool cars but some dont roll and as you said rolling is important. Greenlight does not make any race cars except 510s or Z cars and their quality is C average. Hot wheels is a toy company that dabbles in premium cars that is why there is so many, they are marketed to kids. Tomica makes very nice premium cars but most are JDM that i can purchase,
RLC is puts Hot Wheels in S tier for me. Hot Wheels in general may not have as many details, but that was never the intent. At the end of the day I just like Hot Wheels better than other brands.
How much are they, have to add the shipping to Germany too, think that made it not very iinteressting for me to buy one. And RLC are, like Premium and Mainline, not true 1/64.
@@marcbaur677 They never claimed to be true 1/64. That was never what Hot Wheels was going for. Nobody has that perfect mix of high quality, opening parts, and spectraflame paint/ chromed metal that Hot Wheels has. The shipping is a pain, but to be fair on Hot Wheels part, it isn't their fault that shipping cost so much.
I thought I'm the only one thinking that hotwheels got too hyped now, especially the jdm's, resell price is 3-4 times more. You can bought a better diecast on other brand with that price
Mini GT, Kaido House, and M2 are all fragile. Only good to stick in a display. I 100% agree with Majorette ranking. Auto World makes some of the most boring cars out there. Tomica should be one raking up.
Most of those brands cater and target niche demographics. Some of those brands create models that are unique and limited. Since they exist, that means they are selling. Thus, they should all be above A.
Very cool as always man 🔥🤘🏻💀🤘🏻🔥. It’s an older model now that came out almost 2 years ago but I think one of the best models Inno64 released was the Honda city Turbo 2. I have the blue and white version. Whats so unique and rare about this casting is that your getting opening parts when it comes to to the hood, trunk, inside details, metal base and it rolls so smoothly and these Inno64 Honda city Turbos include a Motocompo. I think I paid $21 USD before tax per model.
S Inno64 and Kaido House A MiniGT C Tarmac Works (only because it has very few castings I collect) and Autoworld D Hot Wheels The rest is irrelevant (at least for me)
I can personally see what you mean with hot wheels, but as another collector and since I only collect HW premium lines (mostly boulevard and car culture) it aint too hard to catch up since other than the US, other countries get premium or certain series very slow
Not only fnf line, now hw re issue some of other premium lines not only that they can suddenly restock the model within 6 month. While its good for short term sales, in the long run re issue going to kill them. Just like tomica. Tomica is dead here in my country
