ken becoming the face of the movie about barbie sticking it to toxic masculinity was such a predictable yet slightly disappointing outcome of this great film
Honestly I think it proves the point of the movie, it’s sad and even though Ryan Gosling killed it as Ken, it really does show how patriarchy is still heavily praised and valued in our current society
@@cloutdazeshe literally did, so you’re saying that after just that little amount time that he divorced his wife, he “all the sudden” fell for ariana, she magically felt the same, and they got together? no, that’s not how that works, you can’t just start a relationship from nothing, there was already something there and feelings formed. even the wife spoke out about this, obviously it’s not a big deal it’s stupid celeb stuff, my it’s honestly annoying as hell when people say she did nothing wrong. they would not be happy if they had a family and the same thing happened to them
So shook that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher's apology video after people found out they supported a r~pist and used their star power to get him a lesser sentence wasnt part of the vid. That stuff was huge on my side of the internet
I feel like the doja cat, noah zionist and matt rife controversy has to be a part of this babe, there may even be a part 2 material here and all of these are JAIL TIME
i think because he was asking specifically for movie & Tv show related scandals, Doja and Matt don’t really fall under that category. But Noah 100% he fucking sucks lol
@@august-bl1jh he got a netflix special and opened it with a punching down joke about DV, and when people brought it up to him he called them all “special needs” in his story (which imo is the equivalent of just saying the r slur) and THEN started getting into random fights with people who aren’t even talking about him or saying very lighthearted stuff. Like there’s this little kid on tiktok who’s obsessed with planets and matt made a joke about jupiter having rings and the kid was like “actually saturn is the one that has rings” and then Matt commented demeaning his MOTHER saying she buys his xmeas presents with only fans money and that santa claus isn’t real. he also went on jordan petersons podcast. OH and then his ex gf spoke out about how he publicly degraded how her vagina looks on a podcast. So yeah essentially he had a really unfunny DV joke that 12 year old middle school boys say all the time and then just kinda went off the deep end getting offended at any posts made about him and throwing a temper tantrum online. If you want a more in depth explanation i recommend the Do We Know Them podcast, they have the videos & receipts that i can’t include in a comment
Something about the Squidgame challenge is that one of the people on the show was deaf/hard of hearing, so for one of the challenges they had no idea what was happening because they didn't have an interpreter there to help them.
@Ks-101 your example of red light green light doesn’t work because a person a very much see when to go; also they had 7 hours to do it. It is more about how the challenge didn’t accommodate to disabled people when they should’ve. Also why should a disable person not be able to do something that anyone else can do; it is up to the people running the show to accommodate them.
As someone who is a huge fan of The Last of Us. The episode 3 controversy made noo sense, Bill has been established to be gay in the game itself, and it was hinted at that frank was Bill's lover because Bill referred to him as his "partner" and if ppl are mad that there is gay characters, literally the second Last of Us game is so gay. The main couple of the game is a wlw couple. The main character, Ellie Williams, is a lesbian and that fact has been established since 2015
this is so true.... and for some reason so many game fans seemed to forget the dlc where ellie kissed riley (even though there was a tv episode on it) and was suddenly freaking out that the last of us "turned woke" all of a sudden???? like it never "became woke" the representation was THERE
@ragdaalhamwi I'm a big fan of The Weeknd as a musician and his worldscape and honestly this whole The Idol thing could've been less cringe had Abel not been so "auteur" about his lead filmography debut.
As a college student with zero free time, thank you for catching me up with all the tomfoolery going on in Hollywood, cause I don't have the energy to be following all this mess 🤣
@@oliviasommerville4733 yeah I was confused for a sec. thought tate went to jail for sex trafficking and not recycling pizza boxes, and not greta. my bad
i am on a completely different side of the internet, i have no idea what's going on rn, but this video gives off a friend talking about a special interests, and i'm having so much fun rn
they're so pop-irrelevant at this point that it's just gen x-older millenial topic, ngl. But I agree that one is straight up layered in jail bars. I do though appreciate some memes about rediscovering the murder of Ashton Kutcher's ex, re-centering his (and similar folks') dodgy nature especially during that era. I'm sleep deprived so I apologize if my English rn is incoherent.
The difference between jacob elordi and rachel zeigler is whether you say you like the movie BEFORE it comes out or AFTER- like years after in Jacobs case. Your not actively damaging your movie if release and press is done. Same with Robert patterson and twilight- he only started openly hating it after the first few Twilight movies when its public perception was already cemented
she wasn’t even saying the job thing abt snow white though. that clip of her saying she took a job for money was for shazam which was already out. i just feel like ghe atfacks on rachel were blown so outta proportion like ppl just wanna hate on rising women in hollywood
I totally agree with your take on the Sydney & that dude.. I could not care less. It kind of goes along with your video you made not too long ago about how people are too obsessed and involved around other people's lives -celebrities lives people are too invested that don't even know them !
I wish you had explained the scandals better. Like, what did Donald Glover say exactly? Also what did that guy from Wednesday say/ do that was racist??? Lastly The Last of Us should've been on the triple platinum tier cuz people talked about it A LOT on Twitter and RU-vid.
There’s a big difference between Jacob calling out his movie than Rachel by one major point; Rachel is involved with Disney. One of the largest companies in the world who pretty much has the monopoly over children. So, she was destined to go down for speaking out against a classic. I don’t even disagree with her, but not the best move knowing how die hard Disney fans are.
Exactly. The kissing booth is a meh movie so if an actor calls it bad, who really cares. It’s because it’s such an important movie that Snow White, such a nostalgic animated film was dragged through the ground by her own actor that makes it bad.
@@Bwafflett”dragged through the ground” i think is a bit overdramatic lmao. She was given talking points from Disney and said them. people just didn’t like how she said it which is completely subjective.
Oh, no she dared to talk badly about the monopoly's old movie, she better get more hate. By that logic, the kissing booth movies are made by Netflix, the biggest streaming company, so Jacob shouldn't say anything negative about them
I also just have to say the Rachel Zegler hate hasn’t ended. Maybe it’s because I like theater and I see more posts about her & theater stuff, but if you look at the comment section of ANY post that even mentions her name you will see dozens on dozens of hate comments. And for what? it’s sooo unserious. Edit: even looking through these comments i’m seeing some. It’s truly NOT that big of a deal.
Yeah that’s the reason why I refuse to read comments about her cuz ppl are gonna be hateful and mean over what she said that was like three months ago maybe? I don’t remember but It’s about to be 2024 and people need to move on. Cancel culture and fandoms are so toxic
Hey rumi great video there were some of these scandals I forgot abt. One that u didn’t mention was the lizzo one. But that’s understandable cuz that scandal went away pretty quickly after like 2 weeks
Of the scandals on this list involving individuals (not the strikes) I pretty much only knew about Ariana and Ethan, and Rachel Zegler. I think what made Ariana and Ethan such a moment is the way it brought what is essentially a quintessential theatre kid showmance scandal into the mainstream media. The theatre girlies were GAGGED by the Spongebob the musical guy messing around with Ariana, and Ariana's stardom made it everyone else's business. It being on the set of Wicked only makes it more iconic for people in the theatre circle. That movie has been rumored and never actually gone through with for AT LEAST a decade. And WOW I would rate the Rachel Zegler hate train so differently as a person in theatre-related circles of the internet. I could not ESCAPE it because Rachel was, prior to Snow White, in the 2021 adaptation of West Side Story, and thus very big in my corner of the internet.
Agreed on the Rachel Zegler drama, and this coming from someone with no theatre background. The hate she got was on every part of the internet. People were calling for her to get fired. The "boycott Snow White" movement was STRONG.
As a Hunger Games fan, watching trailers and promotion for the new movie before it came out was crazy because half of the comments were just talking shit about her and calling her a horrible person. I wasn’t around for the initial controversy so maybe I missed something but I still can’t find a thing she said that warranted the way people were treating her 😭. I think a lot of it was because of right-wing pundits riling up their base because some of the comments I saw against her were angry that she called out Gina Carano’s transphobia and I also saw the union vid of her on an anti-woke twitter page.
yeah I'm a theatre kid too so these were the biggest scandals for me too. The rachel stuff is so dumb bcuz I swear the ppl that were attacking her don't even care or like snow white much either...they just found something new to be mad about. AND i think it's so weird when people get mad at the actors for casting decisions they didnt make!
OMG I thought I was the only one that noticed the Chloe Bailey hate train. It was ridiculous. And the people that said they didn’t like her didn’t know a thing about her didn’t listen to her music nothing I felt so bad for her. I streamed the album down just cause of that.
The Gossip Girl reboot was absolute trash. Even Monet being a bigger character in season two couldn’t help it. And the fact the teachers were Gossip Girl in season one was the biggest bad taste in my mouth 🤮🤮
You were exactly right about The Marvels. I had NO IDEA this movie existed until this video, and it would have been right up my alley (minus the bad writing).
We need the general scandals/ pop culture moments cause Ocean gate, the Alabama brawl, the Carlee Russel case, the fact we thought we were going to world war 3 at the beginning of the year!! There’s so much
I know that Barb-enhiemer technically isn’t a scandal but like I can’t believe you didn’t talk about it. I feel like it was so big u can’t not talk about it for an end of the year type of wrap up video.
Brittany Spears memoir and the dragging Justin Timberlake received It just happened to Simone Biles' husband saying he was the prize and didn't know who she was Halle Bailey "pregnancy" (unconfirmed)
The thing with the snow white scandal is less to do with Rachel, and a lot more to do with the fact people are tired of hearing that feminine women (and women who aren't "strong") are being considered as the lowest type of women.
That might be true but the only way I’ve seen this talked about on the internet is people treating the rewrites to the movie as though that’s Rachel’s fault
@@one-onessadhalf3393 I mean she isn't really helping the situation cause she would always talk about "not needing a prince or love" cause now that's considered weak to a lot of modern day feminists.
@Yoest.1 Maybe, but even so, it’s her job in interviews to make the movie that she’s presently working on look good. Whether or not she actually believes that to be a good angle for the story I don’t know, but even if she actually believes that to be a good direction for the story to go in, it still isn’t worth the amount of hate and negative attention she’s receiving.
@@one-onessadhalf3393 exactly but she hasn't been doing a good job at promoting her up coming movie and yes your right the people who are hating on her are doing too much. she's still young and just needs media training and she also needs to stop trying to be unlikable, wether she is doing it on purpose or not cause it won't help her career in the long run.
the marvels actually wasn't that bad. it was actually a pretty good family movie, and I would recommend you watch it. I think people saw an all female cast and was like, "ew woke"
I felt terrible for the SAG WGA strike, felt disgusted about Ariana, disappointed in Snow White, honestly shocked by the IDOL :) coming to Wednesday I’m still confused
I agree that Rachel and Jacob said the same thing and got different reactions and to a point i agree with you with why that is. But we need to acknowledge that Snow White is something we grew up with and love(d), unlike the kissing booth for which we can agree it wasn’t the best series lol. Snow white is nostalgic and to many a favourite children’s tale, so it made sense why people were mad at her, and agreed with Jacob because they also thought the movies were ridiculous :)
I think R.Zegler got so much backlash compared to J.Elordi is because she was trash talking the movie even before the movie was finished and on screen. When J.Elordi said the Kissing Booth saga wasn't good, it had been over 2 years since the last one so ppl didn't really cared and they agreed w/ him. R.Zegler just went on a rant about how the original movie (a classic and beloved by many) wasn't good and not feminist enough and actually came out as borderline antifeminist. She said that the new new Snow White was going to be that fierce girl who doesn't need a man which is a trop that is so overdone by now, Snow White whole premise is that she is saved by love ! LOVE ! So if they wanted to do a fierce princesse then they should have made a new movie and let Snow White be Snow White and dream about love. They should have let the movie be about how it's ok for girl to dream of true love and it's not a weird ass taboo thing in our era bc of the girlboss movies that Hollywood kept on producing. Being a feminist is to allow the women to make their own choices, whether it be being a fearless warrior woman or being a cottage core woman dreaming of princes. Being feminist is not about shitting on women who dream about fairytale love, it's about giving them the choice to want it.
the way i fast forwarded the video to the part where u were like “no one could escape this name this year” and i knew exactly who you were talking about
I could talk for way too long about the unfair treatment of Rachel Zegler over Snow White and that's very unfortunate for me lol like can we get off the internet pls (no)😔
@@sauronthedeceiver3363 i don’t think being smug or unlikable should ever justify being attacked. It isn’t HER fault people made up a hate campaign over something she was told to say by executives. blaming HER for others actions will never make sense.
@@sauronthedeceiver3363 i didn’t ask why. I asked what is all this hatred for? Like what is their end goal with all this hate? They’d probably say for the film to not be made but it’s already been made. I think it’s just to make this poor girl feel like shit because they’re miserable people themselves. and I stand by my point that other people’s actions aren’t her fault.
Wait why was the rachel ziegler literally everywhere for me and the one main controversy that was bigger than all of these other ones this year.. not that it should have been as it was so dumb. Maybe it was just on my corner of the internet getting news
Waaaait Ginny and Georgia S2 premiered in January 2023? It feels like that was last year 😭 such a good over dramatic show! Season 2 was definitely an improvement over season 1 IMO
20:58 I saw the trailer on TV and I didn't even know they were making it. I fw Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel was my show 💀. But yeah there was literally no promo from what i saw because Disney promotes tf out of the MCU 🤣🤣
Wasn't there internet drama a few years ago that the cartoon Snow White was 14 and the prince was 30? Where's the online conservative outrage about that today?
@Ks-101 Yeah, the original Brothers Grimm version is very old, but the version in the Disney movie is 17. I mean, if we go by the Grimm versions of any of the fairytales, they're all pretty messed up. I'm sorry, but I forgot exactly what the source was. It was a book, I think. One of those companion books released after a movie for more information?
i disagree with the rachel zegler scandal "not making any noise" cause literally every single video i see that even somewhat relates to her the comments are FULL of hate. like just posts on the offical hunger games page, hundreds of people talking about how she'll "ruin the movie" and how they "refuse to watch" just cause of the snow white thing. ive even spoken to people in person who absolutley hate this poor woman just because she spoke "negatively" on her film, even though most of them havent even watched the damn video of her talking about it...
omg yes like everyone haaaates her and i think her fame honestly came to her so fast and she just said some things about snow white that not everyone liked. i didnt even fully agree w how she was saying things but it was neveeerrr that serious to the point where everyone should be tearing down everything she does!!!!!!! the worst part is everyone keeps acting like she wrote the damn movie with what she said like she is just playing the princess???
19:56 tbh not watching the original is why you think the reboot is good. As someone who watched and LOVED the original, I had to consciously go into watching this new series with an open mind but was immediately and constantly bombarded with callbacks to the first series while doing/introducing things that made no sense for the callbacks they were making, so it felt like the new series never truly got a chance to make its own identity where a vehicle/IP like Gossip Girl really allows you to. The characters were incredibly shallow, and not as a character trait but as they didn’t explore them as thoroughly as they did in the first series. That was the critical flaw for this series imo because GG is all about character development. If you don’t care about the characters then you’re never going to care when they get taken down or exposed by GG/whoever is crafting a scheme. … also the teachers being the new GG was super weird and sketchy.
With the Rachel Zeigler thing I feel it has nothing to do with her being a woman it's more so her smug attitude also the kissing booth isn't that iconic of a movie compared to a classic Disney film so of course more people are going to defend that.
I literally could not have cared less about the The Idol behind the scenes ‘drama’ everyone was yapping about for like a month. It was so stupid, like just watch the show and or don’t damn. Who gives a fuck.
If i remember correctly people were also mad at Rachel cause she said something along the lines of women dont need men or like making a princess fall in love with a guy was weird or bad. Imo, why is it wrong if a princess chooses to fall for a guy? Everyone deserves to be loved and princess can be badass and still fall in love. Its not a crime
