Given we're all going to playing the DLC tomorrow, it only felt fitting to release this video today. But stay tuned tomorrow, as I will be posting my first few hours with the DLC just to get those initial impressions out there.

I always try to remember the thing with Malenia's Waterfowl Dance when people tell me their struggles when I myself am able to weave around it without much hassle. She's a C tier fight for me personally as some mechanics about her just frustrate me even if I have the fight well understood to that level. Also enjoy the DLC, Billy, cuz I sure as hell will when the clock strikes midnight.
See, everything you said about Malenia is exactly why I will never be able to bring myself to like her. Fundamentally, she’s an unfair fight and that goes against everything I find a fun boss should do. It’s like they threw darts at a board for the abilities to give her, but instead of just 1 or 2 darts, they threw the whole box. Take away lifesteal and make her more aggressive and we have a deal. As you mentioned, a ton of people cheese her with stuff that they found online and you can practice dodging waterfowl perfectly every time after a tutorial, but I think bosses becoming significantly easier after practice is good boss design. No one is complaining about Nameless King, Demon Prince, Midir, or Gael being unfair and too hard even though that’s how it felt the first time you fought them. You don’t need to cheese them or look up guides for why you died 200 times to a single boss, they’re just good fights. I hope they do more DS3 style fights in the DLC and people can start backing up on loving Malenia so much. Cool design and lore, but man, hyper armor on almost everything? Let’s chill out
@@Fiddlefiddle5000-qv1ly Godfrey is perfect but I’m trying to fight Maliketh again to see if he’s any better. I hated him too the first time. For waterfowl, that’s why I hate it so much is you have to bait it out. I’m also using Godskin peeler and I’ve gotten her to half health before and she still hasn’t used waterfowl. Like what am I supposed to do at that point when she refuses to use it and I know as soon as I get any bit aggressive, she’s going to let it rip on top of me. I know projectiles can bait it out, but still, she shouldn’t be so inconsistent with her aggression that I need to look up tricks to make the fight function correctly. They just fixed Elden beast, maybe they can fix her too
Idk about that, her entire point as a boss is that he is a challenge and I managed to beat her on a level one run without cheese. Her dance is completely possible with practice and even though I have never played ds3 Melenia is made to be the toughest challenge in the series which is a reason people hate her. Her difficulty does require you to go against her over and over but that’s the point And the fix for Elden beast was just because it was annoying in a way that made the flow unnecessarily rough but once you master Melenia the fight is great
Ohhhhh thats why. I saw your poll earlier on this and makes sense since halligtree is only 2 bosses 🤣🤣 favorite consecrated snowfield boss 100% malenia and she also takes the spot as my favorite elden ring boss. Hope SOTE fills that spot (only 1 day tarnished. or a few hours for those lucky folks with the correct timezone)

I somehow got lucky on Malenia. With two bleed curved great swords and a mimic tear I got her on the second try. Probably 100% luck but I was pleased. Maliketh wrecked me for hours, though.
Loretta managed to be a reskin of the Tree Sentinel witgout feeling like that while fighting her. Easily best reskin. Best boss overall is obviously Malenia tho. Without her "go home" attacks in phase 2 she would probably be peak sword duel.
My personal ranking range bundles up Snowfield with mountaintops, and haligtree with farum Azula+Ashen Capital. Probably because i absolutely DESPISE both snowy areas for being... I'd say ER version of lost Izalith. Haphazardly thrown enemies with buffed stats(like how caelid birbs or dogs got around to mountaintops? Morgott sending gifts up the lift? ), nothing interesting outside of some visuals, and due to lack of things of interest you just beeline them to their exits.
I found out that the Death Rite Bitd can't travel beyomd a certain loint, and ended up using that to my advantage to Night Comet it to death. Cheesy, yes, but it did obliterate me on my first attempt, and wouldnt let me summon spirit ashes, so fair is fair
After replaying the game none of them are that bad. The only one who stands out is Malenia, but she’s got a bunch of mechanics that make her annoying on purpose (lifesteal, stance break reset when she kicks, two crazy strong moves, scarlet rot, heals through shields, parry denier, the list continues)
Elden Beast's rank is gonna increase. Torrent is now in that fight. I am elated. As one of my more liked bosses visually, it will become atleast an A tier fight now.
Malenia is pure pain. I genuinely believe that Miyazaki went too far with her. Giving her Waterfowl Dance, Life Steal, plus a second phase where she dishes out Scarlet Rot is just....sadism. She is beatable though, since I've done it after countless attempts and a LOT of swearing! I do like her whole look though. Especially the second phase 😉!
