But it also has new graphics, new characters, new controls, new levels, and runs in a completely different game engine. I get where you're coming from, but I do think it's different enough to be on the list. Especially when ranking the 2d games, a lot of people include mario all stars, and the gameboy remakes
After playing every single 3D mario game, I can say that Odyssey is definitely my favorite. Sunshine is a very close second. I mean that game was so fun and actually challenging rather than game mechanics and bosses being watered down in newer games for beginners. Bro I'm loving the videos. Keep it up man.
Odyssey is my favorite as well, and although I love the boss fights and think they're the overall best in the series due to the sheer amount of variety, I don't think they're actually all that challenging and wish they added a few extra attack patterns to keep you on your toes. The mechawiggler fight in particular (while aesthetically very neat) I found to be way too easy to dodge and is over way too quickly.
While Galaxy is my personal favorite out of the bunch, I do think this is a really good list! All of your opinions made sense, like I completely understood where you were coming from on all of your rankings
The thing about odyssey is that the moons are a lot easier to get, hence why there's so many. In most other mario games you initiate a level, go through the level, then get the star at the end. Odyssey just kinda gives you a crap ton of moons and says go ham. I still haven't played all of these games but galaxy would be #1 for me. Best music, good story, and nostalgia for me.
But Mario odyssey doesn’t have levels the sort of levels they have where you go through a pipe or door then it’s harder but it doesn’t have levels unlike other games which is something people don’t see a lot or don’t use that to compare to others
Honestly sunshine goes 1st for me! It’s just phenomenal for its time, beautiful water graphics, the maps are aesthetic and just the setting in a tropical island, wonderful music. It just has that outstanding vibe!
Also Mario 64 used to be my all-time favorite game and Mario game ever, but after really replaying all of them together one after another I've realized I've had just a lot of nostalgia from Mario 64 and that's what makes it seem so good to me. But I know that at the time it was freaking phenomenal and state-of-the-art, LOL even future state of the art
Here’s my ranking of all the 3D Mario games: 8. 64 DS 7. 3D Land 6. 3D World (I ranked this low because this is the only 3D Mario game I haven’t played but based on gameplay videos I’ve seen on it, it looks better than 3D Land and 64 DS) 5. 64 4. Galaxy 1 3. Galaxy 2 2. Odyssey 1. Sunshine Sunshine is by far my favorite 3D Mario game and maybe my favorite Mario game of all time. It was a hard decision for number 1 between Sunshine and Odyssey but I would have to say sunshine would be my favorite. I just LOVE exploring around in isle delfino and I love the tropical worlds. The music is great and very relaxing to listen to and FLUDD is a nice assistant to have. Just a great game overall. Odyssey and galaxy 2 make the top 3 because odyssey is really fun (not as fun as sunshine for me) and I like capturing enemies with cappy and exploring various kingdoms and galaxy 2 is very nostalgic for me and I think it improved a lot from the first one and it has awesome galaxies. I don’t have as much nostalgia for the first but I’ve played it and it’s a great game. I’ve played 64 and I really enjoyed it and it’s very good for the time it came out. 3D world is the only 3D Mario game that I haven’t played but it looks cool. I hope Nintendo ports 3D world to the switch so I could play it. 64 ds and 3D Land are come in the last spots. They’re great games and all and I have a lot of nostalgia for both games because I played them a lot on my DS and 3DS but I don’t think they can compare to the other 3D Mario games. The other 3D Mario games are just better in my opinion. But I still like all of them
Yeah Im a Sunshine fan too - its my favourite. There's just something "about" it. Like Tomb Raider 1 takes you away, immerses you; Sunshine does the same....
I tried getting into sunshine because I liked all the other 3d Mario Games, but I just couldn't.Maybe because it's the most unique but I'll love to give it another try
My top: 7. 3D Land (great game, just the weakest out of the bunch. I liked the idea of putting all the 2d elements into 3d, lots of post game content but feel like the should've improved a little the level design) 6. Sunshine (not a big fan of this one, FLUDD isn't my cup of tea but I have to say the team was pretty innovative and made some original and well designed ideas) 5. Mario 64 (never played the original, but played the DS version, and man it was great. My complaints for this version are the controls, and the camera was sometimes terrible, but it was my first videogame and I loved it. Also using different characters when required was a great addition, and 30 newer stars that the original didn't have) 4. 3D World (incredibly underrated for me. The first 3d game that introduced actual co-op, one of my favorite level designs, tons of extra content, and an amazing soundtrack, though not as great as the Galaxy ones) 3. Galaxy 1 (one of the best stories in any videogame, the new gravity mechanics and the power-ups were incredible, and great game-play, but I was a little disappointed with the post-credits content, as it's just playing with Luigi all 120 stars again, and an extra level of 100 coins which was the final. But the game really shocked me, and I love it) 2. Galaxy 2 (I'm one of the few people that actually likes the 2nd one more that the 1st one. But it greatly improves the game-play, I like more the galaxies even though it loses more of the space theme, improving also the post-credits content and the music (controversial pick). And a more challenging game for me) 1. Odyssey (the best Mario game, brings back nods to past Mario games, Cappy is just amazing, lots of post-credit stuff, little challenges everywhere, some incredible atmospheres, and even an extra mode when you finish the entire game. It's one of the best, if not the best, videogame ever) Really appreciate if you see my comment :)

Grue Two it could probably be a little higher, but it’s probably because I don’t have the nostalgia. I borrowed my cousins GameCube for a little time, because, while I like Mario Party 6, Double Dash, and Wind Waker, but Sunshine wasn’t my cup of tea really, but I have to admit it’s a great game. Probably with more development, as it was rushed, it could be higher. Also thanks for the response @Infinite Bits ! Great content for such a small RU-vidr, keep it up!

My lists of a lot more Mario lists as well. 8. Super Mario Sunshine I couldn't beat it with a GameCube controller, and I didn't have much fun at all. 7. Bowser's Fury Not particularly fun, but still decent. 6. Super Mario 3D Land Very good, but after playing 3D World it kinda feels a little more boring. 5. Super Mario Odyssey Even with the whole open world thing, the game doesn't take that long to complete including Dark and Darker side, but I still enjoyed the game a lot. 4. Super Mario Galaxy Amazing classic, its sequel is even better but this game was thrilling nonetheless. 3. Super Mario 64 Another fantastic game. I played 64 DS only but judging by that the N64 version is probably the same in terms of rating. 2. Super Mario Galaxy 2 Brilliant- it uses the classic world map design, like where you need star coins to unlock the next area but just with stars. Brings back the scent of Galaxy 1, as an amazing game of late Wii time. 1. Super Mario 3D World Best 3D Mario game I've ever played. Astounding soundtrack just like all of them, originality, character variety, level design, bosses, challenge - it just gets it all right. I will never forget this game. I love your channel and think you should have more subs, like a lot more. This was a great list too, although I have always felt like 3D world is underrated, it’s not my favorite Mario game but I would put it higher if I made this list. Have fun making more vids!

Top three are masterpiece tier, next two are excellent, last three are only pretty good (and 3D World is the only one which I actively find disappointing on several levels).
Grue Two don’t really see why 3D World is below 3D Land, as it had better level design, more content, and better gameplay overall. But anyways great top!
@@diegolinares8600 I actually disagree about 3D World having better level design, most of the levels to me felt like they were more spaced out than they needed to be (likely because they had to account for the four player multiplayer), plus the linear "New Super Mario Bros"-like style of the game feels more at home on a portable system, and kinda feels underwhelming to me when translated to a home console. Not to mention the fact that the game effectively forces you to play each level 5 times in a row as the different characters to unlock everything is such bullshit (I know there's an exploit you can use if you have multiple controllers, but my other WiiMotes are finicky and I don't want to have to do that in the first place).

Mario oddysey is my favourite because it's basically open world and the worlds are very unique. But that's my opinion. This is a great list. Underrated RU-vid channel

Nice list, though Sunshine's probably my favorite. IMO it has the fastest, most fun, and most technical movement and the momentum and speed building remind me of Mario 64 I also love Sunshine's aesthetics like Noki Bay. Odyssey is probably the overall best 3D Mario... But something about Sunshine speaks to me more, and its the most satisfying to do sick movement tricks in followed by 64 and Odyssey.
I agree with some points of this list, but I have some points of criticism, so I made my own list WITH SM64DS AND BOWSER'S FURY included: 9th: Super Mario 3D Land remains here, I absolutely adore this game but even then, I can see that as much as it changed, it was a downgrade from the other 3d mario games, and if you have 3d world, you've kinda played a lot of 3d land, but, 3d land still holds up great to date, and has the most content out of any mario game to existance with 16 WORLDS! (besides Odyssey) 8th: Super Mario Sunshine, a very critical game, you either love it or hate it, I'm the ladder. I personally think it's better than 3D Land, only because of the idea and open world gameplay, but I hate the controls in this game, I just don't like them for some reason, and it is so unbelievably buggy and clearly rushed and unfinished, it's last level is a pain, the physics are a pain, I just don't like the game, but, FLUDD is so cool, and that is why this game is saved, FLUDD makes the game so much more unique and alive, top that with the great music, and you have yourself a "successful" game on a dead system, but remember, this is all MY opinion, if you think I may have missed something or don't like the list, feel free to reply to this comment with your opinions! 7th: Super Mario 64, it hurts me to put this game so low on the list, but today standards, it just doesn't hold up nearly as much as it held up in the late 90's, it can havewonky physics at times, break sometimes, you can accidentally slide down something when you weren't trying to, clip through things when you didn't want to, and similarly to sunshine, there are very noticable cut corners, for example, Pokeys and 1-ups are 2D and not 3D. This game though still paved a very straight path for all 3D Mario games, and 3D games in general, and has some of the most memorable sounds, songs, characters, bosses, levels, and hub worlds to EVER exist. Solid for one of the pioneers of the 3d game genre. 6th: Super Mario 64 DS, its Mario 64, but 10x better, and is overlooked and ignored by many, even though it was technically the first 3D Mario game to be on a handheld. This game improved heavily on the original, adding new characters, levels, locations, sounds, and much more to an already existing Mario title. Although, in the end, its really just a remastered 1996 3D Mario game, with a lot not changing. 5th: Super Mario Galaxy 2, a game seemingly ignored by Nintendo, even if that isn't true when they make Super Mario 35th pins of Mario riding Yoshi from the front cover of Super Mario Galaxy 2. Funny enough, this is the only 3D Mario game I have not gotten a hold of, even though I have a Wii, I just haven't boughten it yet. But from what I know, the game is a lot of content scrapped from the original Mario Galaxy, which isn't a bad thing, but I feel they probably could've put more time into rereleasing scrapped content for a 3 year old game at that point. (mind you this is based off what I know frpom Galaxy 2 without playing it!) 4th: Super Mario 3D World, now this may be an odd choice for the sequel of 3D Land to be this high on the list, but man do I love this game. It always sounds, so good, you cannot describe it, just take a listen to Bowser's theme, first introduced in this game, and then come back. There are so many new moves that were cut from 3D Land, like the roll, the air roll, the ground pound, double ground pound, long jump, rolling long jump, and many more. Then the power ups are so delicious too, like the Super Bell, Lucky Bell, the introduction to the Mega Mushroom in 3D Mario games, the double cherry, and many other power ups. Although it still has its downsides, I think the positives outway the negatives by far! 3rd: Super Mario Galaxy, what a game man, what a goddamn game, so creative, so smart, so risky yet so safe, and such a good soundtrack to pursue. This was a revolutionary game showing how the Wii could perform, even in the hardest circumstances, and man the moveset is so GOOD! The levels are designed thoroughly and are very creative with what they have to offer, the game has a lot of content to offer to you too, so many galaxies, the bosses are fun and creative, there are just so many good things I could list about this game, but, there still are two more I would rank higher. 2nd: Bowser's Fury, and OH GOD THIS IS GOOD, only one complaint I could EVER have with this, its so short! It's only 3-5 hours long for the average player. But the things this game did right, IT DID RIGHT. This game is OUTSTANDING, making itself look stunning and basically treats itself like a really, really good appetiser you would get at a restaurant, short but sweet, so many creative ideas, and so much content put into a short gamemode. This really was a tidbit to all of the Mario fans leading up to the rerelease of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. 1st: In number one, we have, the one, the only, Super Mario Odyssey, just saying the name gets me hyped to talk about it! This game did everything right, with the new idea of capturing Mario's most infamous enemies, and capturing new enemies too, the kingdoms were stunning, and thats the minimum I can say about them, they are so good I don't have words to describe them, this game has such a fluid control layout that you can do almost anything and go almost anywhere with this list of movements for Mario, and the Mushroom kingdom compiles great little nods and references to all of these old mario games, Super Mario 64 mostly, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario World in the form of Yoshi's house being a visitable location now, Super Mario 3D Land through the Tanooki Tree down by the waterfall, and so many references to past Mario experiences through the great costumes you can wear! So many characters and new bosses and theres just so much more content to list that I could be here all day talking about how good some of these games are. As you know, all of these games are great regardless of my opinions on Sunshine, 64 and 64DS, and everytime a new 3D Mario game is released, its always a celebration, heres to great 3D Mario games coming up in the near future! Even 3d Land which is the worst 3d Mario game for most people is great.At the end of the day every 3d Mario game is good and in my opinion they are some of the best video games of all time.

It’s way too clunky for today’s standards. Still a barrel of fun though, just frustrating at times

Such a good list! The only thing I'd change is put SM64 after land, I know that's pretty low but it might be because I didn't grow up with and I don't have the nostalgia to look past its laws, still a fun game though. Id also swap smg1 and sunshine.
Great video! But not much focus on the bosses, which I think can alter the whole experience of the game. You should make a boss video for 3D Mario games (2D bosses were pretty repetitive)

I would put Mario galaxy 2 higher on the list but mainly for its level designs, the levels was just Mario galaxy but better and more refined. But other than that, this list is pretty good!
My ranking: 1. 64 2. 3D World 3. Sunshine 4. Odyssey/Galaxy 2 5. Galaxy 6. 3D Land All of these games except 3D Land are some of my favorites of all time so it’s hard to rank them all. Personally I felt that the Galaxy games have the worst controls of any 3D Mario and I remember getting the most frustrated playing those 2 games than the others. Odyssey is great but if you watch HyperCharge’s critique it outlines a few issues I have with the game, mainly the rigid level structure. Sunshine is pretty jank which I don’t mind much but if it had a better level structure it’d probably be my favorite 3D Mario because I really like the setting and movement options that Mario has. 3D World at #2 because I don’t care if it’s relatively unoriginal I fucking love basic bitch Mario and this game is super fun and has a lot of cool enemy designs too. And 64 at #1 because it’s still easily objectively the best 3D Mario game, not even really a competition.
I just played 64 10 hours straight for the first time (I played the others btw) and I would put galaxy as 2nd and 64 as the winner, but I can see why people dont like 64 as much, I agree the platforming is wanky some times. Edit: on switch btw.

Here’s my rankings, from least favorite to favorite, keep in mind I haven’t played galaxy 2 so I won’t be including that: Sunshine 64 Galaxy 3D world Odyssey 3D Land
My list: 7. Super Mario 3d Land This game was the very first handheld 3d Mario game. It did that job very well. But honestly that's not saying much. The level design is honestly more related to the 2d games instead of 3d ones. I mean this game really just decided to play it safe it's just your average Mario game. But there's a lot of fun to be had in this game. I liked all creative puzzles it had like all the sections where you needed to turn on the 3d in order to get a star coin. I also liked it brought back the Raccoon Suit. Plus I also liked the 3d in this game and utilizing the 3ds very well. This game definitely had it's charm to it but there's still not too much to say about this game. But it's still a very fun game. 6. Super Mario 3d World Took Mario 3d Land and made a better home console version. First of all, I always liked the Carnival themed levels this game had. It just gives 3d World an identity no other 3d Mario game has. I also liked the new powerups 3d World introduced. The Cat Suit was awesome, and the Double Cherry was also a creative powerup we have never seen before. Even tho the bosses were easy, I liked thier designs and effort put into them. Also, in 3d World you can choose 5 unique characters that all have unique abilities. Pretty cool for a 3d Mario game. I mean I know they just copied and pasted this feature from the international version of Mario 2, but the characters are smoother to control in 3d World then in Mario 2. Plus Rosalina is added as the 5th character which Mario 2 didn't have. Unfortunately, Mario 3d World and 3d Land both have a few issues that put it down here. First, the controls. The controls feel sluggish especially in 3d World which just makes it less fun to speedrun the game. Also, 3d Land and 3d World suffer from having REALLY EASYYYYYY GAMEPLAY. All the other 3d Mario games are not this easy. The only hard levels I ever encountered in this game were the optional worlds when you collected all the Green Stars or Star Coins depending if you are playing 3d World or 3d Land. The final problem with these two games is pretty obvious. They are just the most safe and unoriginal games in the series. Even the New Super Mario Bros games at least tried to do a lot of stuff new and were more difficult then these two games (well maybe just NSMBWII but you get my point). That's really the biggest downfall of Mario 3d World and 3d Land. These two games have a lot of competition to face off against, cause these next 5 games are gonna get real good, one of the best Mario games of all time. 5. Super Mario Sunshine We start off with Mario Sunshine. Mario Sunshine is the exact opposite of Mario 3d World. Sunshine really decided to make a lot of risks and add a lot of new stuff. The villains of this game is definitely an example of this. Your main villain this time is hehe an evil version of Mario. Umm okay. Which he turns out to be Bowser JR who made his first appearance hear. Also this game has definitely one of the better stories in any Mario game (no spoilers). Also this game is the first mainline Mario game to NOT have traditional enemies like Goombas or Koopas. Also the level design had a lot of original levels like that sand bird level. Also this is the only Mario game to use a universal theme for all the levels (which is this time is a vacation theme). Mario Sunshine honestly has the best controls in any 3d Mario game. Danm, I didn't get to talk about Fludd yet. I think he's pretty cool. You can use Fludd to enhance your platforming by splashing water. Unfortunately, there is one problem that Sunshine really suffers. The gameplay can get so frustrating at times that it feels unfair. And this can happen a lot of the time. Sunshine really tried to be new in every way, but the frustrating gameplay puts it down here. 4. Super Mario Galaxy 2 A sequel, took what the original Mario Galaxy and expanded on it. More motion controls, more characters, more platforming, and most importantly, more galaxies. Maybe even to much its just a sensory overload. And the post content provides you to get EVEN more stars. The post content was awesome. I also like the unique powerups this game has like the Cloud Suit which worked great with the main gameplay. I also liked the Rock Suit as well. Also I appreciate this game trying to have a different identity then the original Galaxy by having more diverse themes then just space themes. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a great sequel to the original and is a great Mario game all around. 3. Super Mario 64 I swear, if this game didn't exist 3d gaming wouldn't be how it is today. Even if this game wasn't this revolutionary, I would still put in the top 3 best 3d Mario games. First, the speedrunning community. Because it's not as polished then the rest of these games, it made much easier to play this game fast and speedrun it. I'm not joking this game has one of the highest speedrunning communities of all time. I mean one dude literally beat the whole game in an hour and 38 minutes. Whoaaaa. Plus, all the world's were unique and original and only provided small hints as to were the star is. Mario 64 felt like an adventure in out of itself. Mario 64 also had great powerups like the wing cap, vanish cap, and metal cap. All in all, Mario 64 would easily be the best 3d Mario game, probably the best Mario game of all time, if it weren't for these two next games. 2. Super Mario Galaxy This game was everything back in 2007. Cool story (no spoilers), cool powerups like the Bee Suit, Ice Flower, and the Red Star. Also Nintendo really pushed the space theme to its fullest. Because now you can move everywhere right, left, up, down, literally anywhere. Plus you can move through these planets using launch stars. It was a pretty cool feature. And the galaxies themselves were really creative and original one of my favorites being Freeze Flame Galaxy. Also I really liked the final boss in this game one of my favorites as well. This game also definitely has a very good difficulty. This game would definitely the best Mario game of all time, if it weren't for this next game. 1. Super Mario Odyssey This game is just jam-packed with content. I mean this game has basically 1000 moons to go explore. I mean I don't even know how they can put that much effort into one single game. And the graphics just look stunning. It looks great with so many different art styles and colors. I didn't even get to mention Cappy yet. He's a hat and if you throw him at an enemy you can control him and use his different powers. And you can even use him as a platform to enhance ur jump or even just take enemies out using him. Plus every world is unique and has a different mechanic then the rest. For example, there is this Mexican Desert level where it's a small town in the center and a giant desert for you to explore. Another example is this New York City type level where there is a lot of platforming and everything is condensed. This game is just full of originality, exploration, and creativity that it is undoubtedly the best 3d Mario game in my opinion.
honestly I feel like the only games nowadays that hide secrets in the same way super mario 64 did, are oddly enough the souls games. I feel like they aren't afraid to hide entire zones in extremely obtuse ways, just like how sm64 hid an entire level behind a normal looking wall with no indication.
I nearly got very, very tilted when I saw 3D Land at the bottom, then I realised that this is Mario we’re talking about, and the very bottom would be nearing the top for other series

Nice tier list I kind of wish Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 was a bit higher but it's just your opinion but here is my tier list 7.64 6.Sunshine these two are only this low because I haven't played it yet but if the 3D remake rumors are true then I will play both of them 5.3D Land 4.3D World 3.Odyssey 2. Mario Galaxy 1. Mario Galaxy 2 1 and 2 are actually tied because I can't decide what is better have you planed on ranking the Paper Mario games

@@bjorngmrofficial I think galaxy 2 is a huge improvement over 1 personally. After revisiting both games back to back several times, 1 is beginning to feel difficult to come back to since 2 kinda blows it out of the water when it comes to difficulty and level design. I can understand people preferring 1, but I can’t understand why anyone would consider it ‘better.’

It’s the other way round. 1 is the game that’s piss easy and 2 has a much better difficulty curve. 2 has much more instances where you can fall to your death and some of the earlier levels wouldn’t feel out of place in the garden dome. 1 wasn’t challenging, death barely exists in most levels and the game never really gets any harder outside of the prankster comets. Deep dark galaxy is one of galaxy 1’s final levels and the regular missions are arguably just as easy as good egg’s. I can’t fathom how anyone could consider 1 harder when 2’s difficulty essentially picks up where 1 left off. Melty monster, by comparison, is the first galaxy in world 6, and I don’t think anyone is going to dispute that it’s noticeably more difficult than sky station at the very least.
@@bjorngmrofficial no. I’ve played galaxy 1 first and revisiting both games I died a lot more in 2 than 1. I think it’s you who has the major bias here, since galaxy 2 is almost unanimously agreed to be harder than 1. ‘Perfect run is the only difficult level.’ Okay. And ‘purple coins in the bone pen’ was the only difficult galaxy 1 level. Galaxy 1’s comets don’t get harder as you progress. The only difficult comets in that game were a select few purple coin missions. The daredevil comets become really easy with memorisation. Galaxy 2 has much harder speed run comets, purple coin missions that were challenging in a way that actually involved your platforming skills and more core platforming over bottomless pits. Galaxy 1 barely has any bottomless pits compared to 2 and the platforming isn’t as elaborate.

Very nice video and list. Call me crazy but I've always preferred 3D land over 3D world. I know that 3D world has more content technically but some of the stages have felt a bit more empty to me. But I have a feeling its because I've mostly played the game alone instead of with friends as advertised. I was also a little surprised when I didn't see Mario 64 DS, but I suppose since its a remake that it might be the odd one out on the list.

I actually agree, felt to me like 3D Land had more concise level design (likely because they didn't have to design them with multiplayer in mind), plus the linear NSMB-esque design feels more suitable for a handheld, kinda underwhelming when translated to a home console.

Why does everyone love Odyssey so much? I don’t see what’s so great about it, I would have ranked it as the worst, you can’t compare moons to stars, you just can’t, moons are way too common, the worlds are mostly unoriginal, Odyssey is bloated with filler moons, I’d argue most of Odyssey’s content is filler, about 80% of the content in Odyssey is along the lines of: plant seeds, collect sheep, complete a short 2D section, AND JUST FIND THEM IN THE OPEN, it’s laughable that Nintendo thought that moons had the same value as Stars/Shines because they most certainly do not, there’s no hub world in Odyssey, it shoves you down a path of boring levels, and there is a minimum amount of moons that need to be collected in each world regardless of how many you have, Odyssey has no clue about what kind of game it wants to be, there are open worlds but most of the objectives are crappy 2D levels and there’s no hub world, I could go on but I think I’ve made my point, my tier list would look like this (Worst to Best) 7. Super Mario Odyssey 6. Super Mario 3D Land 5. Super Mario 3D World 4. Super Mario 64/64 DS 3. Super Mario Sunshine 2 and 1 (tied). Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 I also think that 64 has aged terribly, the controls are sluggish the camera is complete shiet, the game looks awful, the worlds just aren’t that interesting, 64 needs a ground up remake, it deserves one, because 64 would be up there with Galaxy but the time period of which 64 was released is holding it back, I know I rambled on, I just needed to get that out there
The difficulty is a bit weird. You've got a gradual increase during the 120 golden stars, but then the green stars are weirdly static, and suddendly the game throws a super hard challenge at you that could have been a donkey kong level.
Very good video. I do not agree with the ranking. but very good video nonetheless. And, admittedly, it is not easy to rank games which are generally so amazing. The one thing I do not agree with, however, is saying that Odyssey has more content than other games because it has more collectibles. While Odyssey is enormous and it was fun completing to 100%, usually getting one Star or one Shine requires more effort than getting one Moon. By the way, thoughts on the rumour of SM64/SMS/SMG remaster for the Switch? Those games with the graphics engine of the new console would be fantastic.

Sunshine is totally my favorite, yea a good percentage of the shines are total nonsense and such a pain in the ass to collect but im just so fond of the controls and Isle Delfino, like when I first bought the 3D All Stars set I planned to 100% all 3 games again but I ended up only going through sunshine, one of the best games ever imo

Also the thing about Sunshine while it might not be objectively the most polished, it has the best physics and most challenge of any of the 3D Mario games.
