Ranking ALL The 3D Super Mario Games! [TIERLIST] 

My favorite is 3D World. I just love the level design and controls with the visuals, music, and simple plot adding to that.

Those final levels in Galaxy 2 are some of my favorite levels of all time as well

I completely agree with this whole list EXCEPT 64 is S tier for me but that's about it. Odyssey let me down as well, tho still fun. but I felt crazy when everyone was hyping over it.

I got my copy of 3D All Stars autographed by Charles right before it was announced he was no longer going to voice Mario. Very happy to have it

Mario Odyssey is my favorite game of all time, this hurt to hear

Playing 3D World four player multiplayer with the kids/family made it my number one favourite 3D Mario game, but I imagine playing it single player is probably not quite as fun. Always fun checking out other peoples rankings and nice listening to your gaming stories. 😊👍

Retro Fans need to play Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 on the Wii & the reason I say this is because you can play Game Cube games on an original Wii too! I'm not a big fan of 3D worlds, so my 1st intro to a 3D Mario game was Super Mario 3D Land on the DS. (many birthdays ago) So this will always have a special place in my heart. The simplicity style made it easy for me to transition from my love of 2D Platformer games to the modern 3D Games out there. With that thanks for the Retro Break!

Very true about the Mario 64 controls. It is very odd to play using modern controllers and it is just as you said, that mario feels slippery.

I actually only go back to 64DS whenever I wanna replay Mario 64. For me that's the definitive version of the game, altho I actually did grow up with N64. The DS version just seems like a more final version of the game for me at least. (I was also very surprised about your disappointment with Odyssey due to lack of actual platforming. I remember the game did have quite a lot of platforming sublevels and segments and some of them were quite challenging too)

Solid Tier list my guy can agree with odyssey and that odyssey was just a real slap in the face cant say i liked it

What are your favourite Pokemon Demakes? I have seen that a few have been made for gba like B&W and SW&SH? What's your thoughts on these? Love the videos man keep up the great work

mario galaxy on switch you have to play with the unattached joycons. i think its even better than the original controls that way. the surf and ball section though controlls much better with a pro controller but those are so rare that i just switch to the pro controller for these sections and for 99% of the game use joycons. and btw that is the only switch game where i use the joycons over the pro controller. so its not that i favor the joycons usually. i have both the wii and switch version. the joycons are more precise and once you get used to them and understand/use the position reset button you start to understand why its better than the original wii controlls. you are not forced into one position to have a precise controll which also ergonomicly is horrible for long play sessions. with the joycons you can alter your position and just reset the aim on the fly. i see alot of people think the switch version is worse because they dont use joycons and dont understand when how and why to reset the aim. i take the joycons any day over the wiimote. also the higher res makes the game look much better on the switch even though the switch has color gradiant problems compared to the wii version. still i think the bump up in res is much better than the slight color problems. but one thing we agree on is that the game has propably the best story of any mario game and by far the best ost

Great vid! Someone may have said this already but for the switch rerelease of sunshine, they patched it to where if you're using a gamecube controller you can use the triggers like you would in the original. Not like it matters since they delisted it but in case some may have it and may not have known.

Sunshine. 6/10 9. 64 DS. 5/10 Sad you didn’t enjoy Odyssey like I did… To me Odyssey feels like 64 times ten as well as having my favourite controls in any 3D platformer but I do find that a lot of Galaxy fans didn’t care more for the non-linearity of it. I didn’t mind the lack of platforming challenges as making my own felt much more rewarding for me!

I feel like SM64DS deserves an S when paired with the analog stick mod for the Wii U Virtual Console version. I hope it gets a source port for the PC like the original did after the gigaleak.

I agree with most of your problems with Odyssey, which is why It's not quite my favourite Mario game, however the game does so well in other aspects that I'd still give it an S rank. 64 ds is actually my favourite game of all time, partly because it's one of the first games I've ever played but also because I believe the formula 64 and Sunshine have is the best possible formula for a 3D Mario game, also the level design is immaculate and the ost rivals Galaxy's imo

I say some or even a majority of Mario fans would have liked Super Mario Majestia if it could join the 3D Super Mario games. I really wish my game could happen.

Super Mario Odyssey has plenty of platforming levels and some moons in the dark side of the moon were hard and you had to understand the nuances of the controls

It's a shame that Mario 3D collection will be so simple, with so much they could have added to do justice to those 3 classics... Apart from not adding Galaxy 2...

Very solid list. Outside of Mario 64 being an S for me I’m largely in agreement. You have a solid understanding of what makes these games fun. Odyssey was a slap in my face and I’d probably give it a D. Not a game I’ll ever return to

I really didn’t like Odyssey.

To me Super Mario 64 is a clean S+. Not only among 3D Mario games but among all the games ever. You browse the Internet for top 100 videogames of all time you'll see it in almost every single list. In my opinion SM64 is peak gaming and it was the first of its kind. Probably my favorite game of all time.

I liked 64 less linear structure... the exploration is the reason why i remember every level so vividly. It was the same for Banjo or DK64. I loved Galaxies but i felt like i was just jumping from planet to planet. It felt a little samey... 64 is also the reason why every game today plays with a double analog where you can control the camera. It shaped 3d gaming. For me it's S with both Galaxies... Sunshine was really too frustrating. Falling off then walking all the way back to where you were

While I think odyssey could’ve been more challenging and had less fat on it, I feel it should be at least an a tier due to the amount of innovation and love put into the game, plus it was one of the first big reasons to buy a switch at the time

honestly i feel the same about odyessy. will i play it again? probably. do i want to right now? no, not really. i feel like after you've beaten bowser the game doesnt have much to offer and i felt done with the game by the time i got to bowser.
