I wonder how he feels about skyward sword now with the he version which pretty much addresses almost everything he said he didn't like and included button controls as well
Whenever I see someone who complains about motion controls in skyward sword and I can see them using the controller, 9 times out of 10 there just not using it correctly. It’s not too hard to figure out, if stupid 7 year old me can figure it out then these grown adults can too. It seems like they just see it not working and don’t want to put the time and effort to learn how it works and instead complain.
Finally some minish cap love! Im so sick of hearing tier lists where they havent even played it and rank it low when its so underrated, really good in depth list btw.
Great video! TP is my fav Zelda game, so I'm happy to see it's in your S-tier. I did want to mention, they upgraded the textures in that game, as well as upped the resolution. You can definitely tell on the item and environment textures. 😄
This might surprise you, but Spirit Tracks is my favorite 2D Zelda Game. The fact that Zelda is your companion was great, I really love the Tower of Spirits, it's a better version of the Temple of the Ocean King, as well as the other dungeons and the soundtrack is beautiful. I know that driving the train and playing the spirits flute is annoying, but I feel like the fans are always forgetting the great things about it.
Me too xd I love spirit tracks, it is my favorite zelda game I'm actually playing it again on an emulator and it's an amazing game, sadly it is too underrated
uSagiii Another flaw in this game is getting the train parts. It's all luck based, because Linebeck the 3rd is too greedy to sell you them. You have to give him specific treasures in order to get them. What I realized is that some players have more chances to find certain treasures than others. For example, one player will find goron ambers more than palace dishes. But for another player, he or she will have more chances to find palace dishes than goron ambers. You could have found all the collectibles in the game, scored 900 points at the training mini-game in Hyrule Castle, maxing out your health, finding all the treasure chests and completing all the side quests, but this could takes you a long time because of your luck at obtaining a specific treasure that you need in order to obtain the last train part that you're missing.
I had to create a SSS tier because I like Skyward Sword a large bit more than all the other games, so it sits alone in SS tier, but I love Twilight Princess more than my firstborn son so I had to create another tier just for it
I love this video especially because you took time just to add that part to the beginning. Most people wouldn't put that much detail into an intro but you did and that's why your content is top-tier.
The beauty of Zelda is that everyone likes the games for different reasons. Our lists line up pretty similarly, I would personally put Majora and Majora 3D in S tier
Aside from the bosses (I only played the remake) and the repetition of certain enemies (ie, Wizrobes), Majora's Mask might even eek out Ocarina of Time in my ranking. Both are excellent games, but try to do very different things. I'd love to see a proper Majora's Mask remake (or successor, like LBW was to ALTTP) with updated graphics, more quests and dungeons, better motion controls, especially for Zora and Goron masks, while still keeping the same feel that Majora's has.
Not like it's your fault though nintendo isnt porting barely any of the games to switch just because they want to have a zelda release every year, it might be years until I play wind waker because I dont want to buy a Wii U or game cube.
I love how well you were able to Express the pros and cons of the games without spoiling much of the games itself, people usually struggle with that, great job
Great list. Once again I’d like to say thank you for sticking to your honest opinions. Personally, I would not have rated Twilight Princess so highly, but I understand why someone would. Keep it up man, your honesty is refreshing, especially in the Nintendo RU-vid gaming world.
E: Four Swords, Four Swords Adventures, Triforce Heroes, Tingle rupeeland, Link crossbow training D: Zelda 2, Phantom Hourglass C: Zelda 1, Age of calamity, cadance of hyrule B: Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, Spirit Tracks A: Skyward Sword, Hyrule Warrior, A Link between worlds, Breath of the Wild S: A Link to the past, Links Awakening, Ocarina of time, Majoras Mask, Wind Waker, Minish Cap, Twilight Princess SS: Faces of Evil, Wand of Gamelon, Zelda's Adventures
I just started playing Zelda games and honestly Im liking skyward sword just as much as botw. The only reason I like botw slightly better is because the combat is more fun and there’s a lot of replay value in the game. Other than that, they’re essentially even for me so I’m shocked he put skyward so low. I think the slower pace of skyward made it more fun because as an experienced gamer my experiences playing certain games doesn’t last long. The motion controls in skyward kinda was a learning process so it made the experience last longer
The Legend of Zelda - 3/4 Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link - 2/4 A Link to the Past - 4/4 Link’s Awakening - 4/4 Ocarina of Time - 4/4 Majora’s Mask - 4/4 Oracle of Ages - 3.5/4 Oracle of Seasons - 3.5/4 Four Swords - 2.5/4 The Wind Waker - 4/4 Four Swords Adventure - 3/4 The Minish Cap - 3.5/4 Twilight Princess - 4/4 Phantom Hourglass - 2.5/4 Spirit Tracks - 3/4 Skyward Sword - 3/4 A Link Between Worlds - 3.5/4 Tri-Force Heroes - 2/4 Breath of the Wild - 4/4
I'm of the minority that thinks the 2D Zelda games are better than the 3D ones. LBW, LttP, Link's Awakening, Minish Cap, and the Oracle games are my favorites in the franchise. Not a huge fan of the ones on NES or DS though
Idk man I think it’s better thank BotW and TP. Game slaps. Story is good, motion controls were fun, had some of the best dungeons and bosses in the series and the music was good. Only complaint was fighting the imprisoned multiple times
S: Majoras's Mask A: Ocarina of Time - Twilight Princess - A Link to the Past B: Minish Cap - Link's Awakening (Switch) - Skyward Sword (Wii!) - Wind Waker - Triforce Heroes C: Breath of the Wild - Oracles of Ages/Seasons - Four Sword Adventure - A Link between Worlds - Zelda 1 - Four Sword Trash!: Spirit Track - Zelda 2 - Phantom Hourglass The reason why I prefer MM over OOT is due to the story and the possibility to do quick or completed runs. And the Trash Tier, Zelda 2 is not enjoyable at all and the road to the last level until the end of the game... It's just frustrating!!! And the 2 DS games, I hated them so much. Mostly Phantom Hourglass. The others tier-lists are my personal experience AND SOME of them IF people will like it overall.
Will you also rank the Mario and Luigi games from worst to best, cause its my favourite series in the mario franchise, and a very underatted one I tell you :) And by the way, nice vid dude. Keep it up :D
D Tier 19. Triforce Heroes C Tier 18. Phantom Hourglass 17. Skyward Sword 16. Spirit Tracks B Tier 15. Four Sword 14. Four Swords Adventures 13. A Link to the Past A Tier 12. Oracle of Ages 11. The Wind Waker 10. The Adventure of Link 09. Oracle of Seasons 08. The Legend of Zelda 07. The Minish Cap 06. Breath of the Wild 05. Ocarina of Time 04. Link's Awakening 03. Majora's Mask 02. A Link to the Past S Tier 01. Twilight Princess
As much as I enjoyed Breath of the Wild I felt very let down by it as a Zelda game. I honestly never understood why some people love it as much as they do because I feel that it's just an average open world game with tons of fluff and padding that takes away from what the franchise was. The music, dungeons, and atmosphere were all gone. It just felt so disappointing and it's a bit shocking to see people rate it as their best Zelda or game of the decade as it's just an ok game game and a very poor Zelda game to me.
S: Majora’s Mask, Ocarina of Time, Link to the Past, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, A: Breath of the Wild, Links Awakening, Wind Waker, Minish Cap, Link Between Worlds B: Legend of Zelda, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, Spirit Tracks, C: Phantom Hourglass, 4 Swords Adventure, Adventure of Link D: 4 Swords, Triforce Heroes
So my list is incomplete because I havent played every game yet but of the ones ive played 1. twilight princess (all 3 versions) 2. Breath of the wild 3. Skyward sword (both versions) 4. Minish cap 5. Majoras mask (n64) 6. Spirit tracks 7. Links awakening (all 3) 8. Majoras mask 3D 9. A link between worlds 10. Phantom hourglass 11. A link to the past 12. Ocarina of time master quest 13. Ocarina of time (both versions) 14. Wind waker (havent played hd) 15. Oracle of seasons 16. Oracle of ages 17. 4 swords adventures (Havent played 4 swords, TFH or zelda 1 and 2) If i could put them on the list age of calamity and cadence of hyrule would be pretty high up. (Havent played the first HW)
I was on the fence about BotW. Still am but more so on the good side. Love the gameplay and challenging combat just wish you could repair weapons (hopefully tears of the kingdom fixes this) also the enemies were so spread out at times you're just running. Adventuring is God tier. Even on my like 5th or 6th playthrough I still find things I've missed before. Story is extremely lackluster in my opinion. Other than Miphas part I didn't feel super captivated. Although there's 120 shrines (not counting dlc) 90% were copy and pasted or not that challenging. Would have rather had a lot of them meshed into bigger shrines/dungeons to make them seem bigger instead of super short and scattered. Also needed more enemies. The divine beasts while interesting concepts it left a lot to be desire imo. They needed more enemies inside and they were OoT water temple levels of tedious. Resetting everything to get things you overlooked. The blights were awesome though. Not a big gripe but my ocd hates I can't have maxed hearts and stamina without cheating. The fight with ganon was too easy especially the last segment. Lastly, the music (probably my favorite part of these games) was just wack. There were a few pieces of music that were good but overall was let down.
S: Wind Waker HD, Wind Waker, Majora's Mask A: Ocarina of Time, Ocarina of Time 3D, Twilight Princess HD, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Minish Cap B: Oracle of Ages, Link's Awakening DX, Link's Awakening remake, Oracle of Seasons, Spirit Tracks, A Link to the Past, A Link Between Worlds C: Breath of the Wild, Phantom Hourglass, Four Swords Adventures, The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link D: Tri Force Heroes, Four Swords, Majora's Mask 3D
@@Yoda-wf6bu BotW is a really good open world game, but it doesn't feel like a Zelda game at all. It has pretty much nothing of what I like the Zelda series for
@@Paradox-xm9zq Thats exactly why it deserves more praise. It’s something different. All other Zelda games are basically the same thing with same concepts.
@@Yoda-wf6bu Different is fine. The issue for me is that BotW is so different that it has little to no resemblances to the other games at all. You know how games like Okami get described as "Zelda like"? If BotW wasn't a Zelda game, I highly doubt anyone would describe it as Zelda like. Majora's Mask is a very good example of something that feels different while still feeling like a Zelda game. BotW feels more like a typical western AAA open world game than it does a Zelda game.
I wouldn't agree with BOTW being top of S as you said TW is the most complete. BOTW is not complete in away way shape or form. I think it's great and have a couple hundred hours in it but I wouldn't put it higher than high A tier. The shrines are repetitive and boring the "dungeons" or champion dungeons are all the same when I try to think of them and the ganon fights in them are boring. You can't even play post ganon fight which makes the game incomplete just with that. The only part it nailed was travel. It's fun to run aroundand look at land marks but that's about it. the fact that the landmarks would mean nothing without past zelda games is pretty crazy. I think the new BOTW will be the definitive open-world zelda game. BOTW was over hyped and that hype will die down in the future. I'm 80% sure.
I would put Majora's Mask in S tier. I would also put Adventures of Link in S tier. (unpopular opinion, I know!! But, like the original Super Mario Brothers, the game provides endless hours of real entertainment, of a type that is not found easily.)
i agree with most of the list BUT,,,, twilight princess over botw. i recently replayed tp and, at least for me, 100%ing it was perfectly paced where i literally had everything done going into zant and got the final heart piece in the game during that dungeon. i ended up never feeling like i was grinding anything out to 100% except for when i had just one poe left which wouldnt have been an issue if i was playing the remake.
ALTTP is S TIER! considering the system this came out on, the weird side quests , the flute boy so many innovations that future Zelda's use today for etc light and dark worlds , the hook shot etc for me it's aged better than ocarina of time and Majora . Definitely understated if you played this at the time of release you would understand .
100% agree. This list shows a preference for the 3D Zeldas though, which is a matter of taste I guess, but Link to the Past basically defined the Zelda experience until Breath of the Wild reinvented things somewhat. I still play through it once every couple of years. That being said, returning to that same Hyrule for A Link Between Worlds was such a blast of nostalgia and pure joy. I didn't get a 3DS (2DSXL, actually) until very late in that system's lifespan and only really played two games on it: Samus Returns and A Link Between Worlds. For those two games alone I absolutely love that little system.
You should’ve waited for Skyward Sword HD before making this list. It has arguably the most improvements of any of the HD remasters. I’m having a lot of fun with it and it is getting much better reviews than the original.
The nes Zelda deserves way more respect than below average, that game was so good the damn brand lasted till now and Probably for another 100 years. Zelda 2 was terrible and deserved the spot. If it wasn’t for the OG we wouldn’t have a list to begin with. That was the best Nintendo game.
BotW is the worst LoZ game. Shrines were a grind fest, beast dungeons were bland, story was boring, breaking weapons were ass, and the extra crafting/cooking BS felt soooo tedious.
I don't usually like tier list videos because they usually just seem like a lazy way to do a list video in my opinion. However this one was different and really good because you incorporated footage of the games and a decent little description before moving on to the next game so congratulations man.
Thank you and agreed bro! There are waaayy to many lazy tier lists out there that show an image of the tiers the whole time. That's why I wanted to do something different for mine
Personally I don’t think OoT is a S tier just because a lot of the areas feel a bit empty because there’s not a lot of side stuff. Of course the story and actual main quest stuff is good.
17: Four Swords (GBA)(The only game that actually sucks) 16: Tri Force Heroes (3DS)(Gameplay is too gimmicky) 15: Phantom Hourglass (3DS)(It has good things but certainly a weak one) 14: Legend of Zelda (NES)(Was good at the time, keyword is at the time) 13: Spirit Tracks (3DS)(The most forgettable game imo) 12: Minish Cap (GBA)(A little too simple for me, but still pretty great) 11: Adventures of Link (NES)(Too hated I have fun because of the difficulty) 10: Link’s Awakening (Gameboy)(I can’t say anything else but it’s just amazing) 9: Oracle of Seasons/Ages (GBA)(The most underrated in the series) 8: Skyward Sword (Wii)(Has some truly incredible things but not perfect) 7: Link To the Past (SNES)(A tad bit overrated but still awesome) 6: Link Between Worlds (3DS)(One of the best 3DS games) 5: Majora’s Mask (N64)(The darkest tone in the franchise, and I like dark) 4: Breath of the Wild (Switch)(You have to love an open world game) 3: Wind Waker (Gamecube)(I don’t know what else to say but top tier) 2: Twilight Princess (Gamecube)(I’m a fan of turning into a wolf) 1: Ocarina of Time (N64)(The most classic game into the series)
and no altp is not overated at all This game the prices it's a masterpeace imo But i respect your taste but overated no because this game can be played at his release Today an even in the future
Link to the past is still number 1 for me, that game is soo good. Really great items and dungeons. The puzzles are so satisfying. Breath of the wild is close second though. Also the original loz is still A tier for me. So much replay value, all items are optional and you can do the dungeons in any order, and there are literally secrets everywhere.
A Link to the Past is a solid Zelda game and I respect your opinion, but great dungeons? I could maybe think of two that I kinda like. The dungeons generally range from bad to mediocre. I especially hate Skull Woods and the Ice Palace. Most of the dungeons are aesthetically bland which makes them very forgettable to me. The music doesn’t help. They play the same music for EVERY dungeon in the game. This makes them so incredibly forgettable.
if they remaster/make zelda two (making darknuts and the wierd crocodile mace enemy have actual counterable attacks that arent bugs) i think that it would be a pretty good game!
I really enjoyed the whole concept of windwaker, there are many little islands to explore and I didn't find it any easier than any other zelda game (no zelda is typically that difficult). I would place windwaker as an easy 3rd behind OOT and MM
I agree that it’s a bit overrated, although I’m not sure if it has too few dungeons. I think the way the game is paced makes it feel like it has less dungeons, but it actually has seven, the same number as _Skyward Sword._
Um... I mean I agree with a lot of opinions on here and my problem isn't that I disagree with some of them, my problem is that some of your complaints are flat out wrong or misinformed. For example the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess "remasters" not remakes... did much more than just up the resolution and (in Wind Waker's case) added new lighting. Twilight Princess COMPLETELY overhauled all of the textures in the games files to be more crisp and some are even outright changed. Wind Waker also had improved textures though not as noticable due to the art style. There were more to these games' remasters than you give credit for imo
I was gonna get mad if he didn't put botw in at least in S but then I got surprised when he pit it in the top of S. I would put it there too, botw is in my top 5 favorite games.
@@thepanthar in no particular order Michael Jackson the experience, botw, dbd, new super Mario bros wii, and sonic generations. Only games I can really think about I really like rn
You clearly ain’t a Zelda fan if you got TP and Botw above MM. botw has crap story, awful durability on literally everything, and no incentive to do the side quests. Literally the only incentive of even exploring is just the tedious repetitive shrines. Not to mention the dungeons are awful and had no actual thought out into them. They take 15 mins and are boring af.
@@marbleb33s Awh did I trigger you lil guy? Must’ve ruined your whole night with my “OpInION”. Why don’t you take a seat before you hurt yourself using that small brain of yours Karen.
that sure he dosent existe one zelda can beat ocarina of time the orignal in 98 is the perfection of every zelda ocarina of time can be a SS and other S and lower p.s the remake is really ulgy
My list for all the games I've played in the series: S: Breath of the Wild Skyward Sword The Minish Cap Tears of the Kingdom A: Ocarina of Time A Link to the Past Majora's Mask B: Link's Awakening The Legend of Zelda C: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Skyward Sword had some of the best dungeons in a Zelda game. I for one mostly play Zelda for the dungeons. It is my favorite game. Breath of the wild was good but man did I think the dungeons sucked. If the dungeons from skyward sword were in breath of the wild that game would easily be a 15/10. Im hoping they go back to traditional dungeons for botw 2. Now that would be the perfect Zelda game.
All the people that were frustrated by the controller of Skyward Sword should really buy the remake, you're missing literally one of the best Zelda games
S+ A Link to the Past Ocarina of Time Breath of the Wild S Link’s Awakening (1993) Majora’s Mask The Wind Waker Link’s Awakening (2019) A Oracle of Ages Oracle of Seasons Twilight Princess The Minish Cap A Link Between Worlds B The Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventures Spirit Tracks Skyward Sword C Four Swords Phantom Hourglass Tri-Force Heroes D Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link
This is my top 10 all time: 10 - A Link to The Past 9 - Spirit Tracks 8 - Skyward Sword 7 - The Minish Cap 6 - Twilight Princess 5 - A Link Between Worlds 4 - BOTW 3 - Majora’s Mask 2 - WindWaker 1- Ocarina of Time
Great review!! Nice idea for intro!! I just started watching and I already know Zelda BOTW will win because you have it placed in the end of list.😀 EDIT: Yes, you get lost in the world it creates, literally. I'm lost 😀 I will not waste time playing older releases. It's good it's available on WIi U backup mode 😉
These may be hot-takes from my part, but I want to share them. I'm not criticizing anyone, opinions are opinions, these are just mine: -I like Skyward Sword better than Twilight Princess. My biggest gripe with Twilight Princess relies on difficulty, it is too easy for my taste. I don't know how TP managed to be easier than the most Hand-Holding game in the series but it does. For starterts the enemies in Skyward Sword require more thought when fighting them, they can block you, you can stun them or parry them, you can avoid them altogether, and they have more interaction with the environment (they can be attacked by hornets, fall into endless pits or in lava, they can also be hit with objects, there are some that call out more enemies, etc..), meanwhile TP just has little variety (Some enemies can only be attacked from behind, and/or be stripped down of their armor), but outside that combat reduces to spamming the attack button, this worked fine for OoT and M'sM, but by the time TP came out it lacked substance. Yeah, there's techniques, but they're mostly for show and spectacle, since the only techniques that are really useful are the back slice, and ending blow, but they did not changed the combat too much. Enemies in TP rarely attack, since pressing a button doesn't demand too much skill I believe having more aggressive enemies would be natural, but no, most of the time monster get close and stare at you for a good second before hitting, meanwhile SS's combat relies on your skill to attack the enemies on their not guarder angles, even if they aren't too aggressive either, at least they block your attacks, so they encourage you outsmarting them instead of just mindlessly pressing the attack button. Bosses hold the same issues, TP's arstyle and concepts make for some intimidating bosses, but many of them lose this factor due to being so criminally easy. The first three dungeon bosses are some of the easiest bosses in the series, the only point I can give them is that in cinematic and epic terms at least they deliver. SS has some goofy bosses, but there is no boss that doesn't tests your skill, they go beyond just using the dungeon object, they really tests how skilled you are with both said object and your sword, and I think I value more the test of skill over presentation in a videogame. -Breath of the Wild is OUTSANDINGLY GOOD; however, I don't think is the best in the sieres, and despite its impact... I don't think is better than TP, SS, and M'sM (Even WW). Its really good, and don't get me wrong I love BotW, but I don't think it holds up to most of the highest regarded Zelda games, due to the following reasons: Dungeons. I liked the Divine Beasts, but they don't compare at all to traditional dungeons. The Divine Beasts are fine for what they are, and for the game they're in, but I don't think more of them is required, and I would actually find it boring to see the same concept again. (About Sanctuaries, I liked them a lot, but they don't count as dungeons either. I don't mind them coming back, unless it means sacrificing any concept of a dungeon). Enemy variety, actually BotW has a good quantity of enemies of different types, my problem with enemy variety actually relies on the variety in the environment. For example in previous games for fire areas we would see specific enemies for that area that would use the environment or something that matched the theme of it to fight or be an obstacle to Link, meanwhile in BotW is the same enemies, but with a color skin or being fire-like, that's it, and this is what I mean with this game lacking enemy variety. (why did we not saw plant like enemies in Farone? Or more aquatic enemies? Instead we saw the same enemies as the rest of the overworld, but just adding electricity to Lizalfos and Keese. The Story, It's not that BotW doesn't have a story, it's that the story already happended. I'm more forgiving of this point, since this is the first time, since the first game of the series, in which you can truly free explore the world and do things in any order; however, that doesn't mean the story bits aren't diminished by the fact that we see eveything in flashbacks, and that mostly we are TOLD to care about already death characters, instead of growing a care for them. Personally when I learned about Mipha, I grew more care about King Dorphan and Prince Sidon, since they were there, and I interacted with them, and they were relevant to the plot. I'd definitely say that BotW is the 3D Zelda with the weakest story.
