Great rundown of the rides. I really enjoy all of the rides, but Nemesis has always been my favourite. Can't wait for it to open again next season after it's retrack. I love Spinball too, but I'm right on the height limit and have been refused on a few occasions, so I generally don't bother to queue for it. I'm actually 194cm but with shoes on, it pushes me past the 195cm for Spinball. Never been refused on Thirteen and thats 196cm.
I am very excited to see how the new track runs in comparison to the older track! I agree that Spinball is a great (and underrated) ride which can be awesome if you get the weight balance correct.
Everyone else watching this out of pure interest, me watching this cuz I have motion sickness and need to know what I physically can take when I go in September 🫣
@@Jason123-fn7ot I was good on Wicker Man and Th13teen! Just be aware that th13teen does go backwards in the dark because that might throw you off. They’re both really fun but wicker man is more rough by a landslide, but it’s a wooden rollercoaster what did you expect lol Have fun!
To be honest, with more inversions on the smiler I think its more intense, but I do actually commend you for putting rita in the 3rd spot, it is quite intense
Hey man, I enjoyed the video but I figured I’d let you know you tagged me for footage, but there’s actually another channel named Coaster Focus that you got the clips from!
I feel like with the big 7 they can be categorised into 2 sections: First you have the borderline family-thrill range with Th13teen, galactica & wicker man Then you have the proper ‘white knuckle’ rides such as nemesis, smiler, Rita and oblivion, I agree with your rankings except I’d actually put Rita at #2, it’s the only ride at towers that I’ve ever greyed out on, being on that first banked turn and also on the second bank turn over Th13teen’s entrance
I agree! There is definitely a gap in intensity between Th13teen, Galactica and Wicker man and the rest of the thrill coasters (unless you ride Wicker man once it’s properly warmed up). Rita is actually surprisingly intense as you said towards the start of the ride! It’s a shame it slows down a bit after the launch and first two banked turns.
my favourite was the smiler when i went a couple days ago, nemesis reborn wasnt that good i'd say, the que time was only an hour tho so i guess its good, id rate galactica above it tho because i had great fun pretending to be superman with my friend (we both sat at the front)
Galactica is so underrated. It's smooth and makes you feel like your flying, especially in the front row! The only thing holding it back is the lack of theming in sections.
Galactica is pretty soft I think, a cool experience but it’snot intense. Th13teen is no joke on the back row which also makes for a more enjoyable part two. I’d probably swap those around to how you’ve ordered them.
I think something that could of caused me to put Galactica higher was that the last time I rode it, I was on the back row when it was running pretty fast. If I rode Th13teen in the same conditions the list may have been different!
Didn’t bother going on the smiler yesterday because thought it’d be a bit much for me, but considering you said nemesis had higher intensity has me thinking I’ll try it next time since I loved nemesis and it was a tame ride apart from maybe one or two loops which had me wobbly after getting off 😊
@@novalovaaa If you’re fine with lots of inversions, I think you will enjoy The Smiler. Nemesis is considerably more forceful and intense for me, so if you can do that without too many troubles you should be good to go on The Smiler!
Great list! I also find Nemesis to be much more intense than The Smiler. It’s the rapid transitions and the intense downwards helix that makes it so intense and forceful!
@@ThrillsandForces tbf I wouldn’t even call nemesis scary I would say it’s just so intense the g force is insane - I could actually feel my shoes being pulled off my feet 🤣 Such a fantastic ride
@@epiccoasterz I remember my first ride in the back row. The transition from the corkscrew into the downwards helix was just insane! Nemesis is such a good coaster.
Great video as always,I think some longer content could help you grow and us as viewers as short videos seem like you really have to rush and work hard to pack it all in.
@@ThrillsandForces I definitely think there’s a place for your kind of great short content for example construction updates or recaps but just see what feels good for you and keep up the great work!
I did nemesis about 20 years ago whatever year rita came out.. Intensity? Rita, oblivion and smiler all go above nenesis. I must be built weirdly cause the bottom of oblivion is horrible for me. Thats intense. If you can catch wickerman at the back at the end of a nice busy day, that thing can shift. Amazes me they have it as a family coaster, though last time i went i hit it at 11 on a quiet day near the front and it felt like a different ride. I honestly find nenesis as relaxing as air 🤣
Wickerman can be really intense sometimes, especially towards the end of the day. With how snappy it is through some of the transitions, it also surprises me how it is a family coaster! I rode Nemesis Reborn recently, and it wasn't overly intense as I was sitting in the front row and it was earlier in the day. It definitely depends on which row your sitting in because the back row seems to be way more forceful!
@@benbray4982 I do like the back row on Nemesis - I find it to be way more intense. That being said, the front row is brilliant for the views as you dive in and out of the trenches!
@@jakesgreatadventures That audio was great! I wish it came back but apparently it caused issues with the noise levels as too many people were screaming.
I believe I'm in the minority here, and I'm probably going to get a lot of hate and/or ridicule for this, but I have not experienced any ride that has topped the intensity of Rita's launch. Don't get me wrong, I found Nemesis to be intense, but it was a "fun" sort of intense. Rita is not the fastest roller coaster in the country or even the fastest in the Alton Towers park itself at 62 mph, but the launch felt as though it had catapulted me to double that speed when I rode it, not to mention how it made my stomach churn! With the exception of The Wicker Man, I have ridden every single ride at all the Merlin theme parks and not one of them - not even Stealth at Thorpe Park - made me hold on for dear life like when I experienced the launch on Rita. I know that this is my own personal experience and take, but I would have pushed the arrow all the way to "very high" on the intensity dial for Rita. For me, despite its basic layout after the launch, Rita has given me the most memorable experience of any ride I have ever ridden in the UK. It'll be interesting to experience what The Wicker Man has to offer as I have not been to Alton Towers for some time now. It definitely looks very intense for a wooden coaster! Also a massive thank you for posting this video! 😊
Rita does have a brilliant launch! You would think it would have much less of a kick than Stealth but it stands up pretty well. For me, it’s that turn straight after the launch that adds even more intensity to the ride. You really get pushed into your seat (like when you are initially launched). I think you will enjoy Wicker man when you get to ride it - especially if you go on it in the afternoon when it has warmed up!
The other day I went on Dragon’s Fury and as the car wasn’t balanced we were spinning so fast making it pretty intense, so I can see why you put Spinball high!
The Three Inversions at the end of The Smiler are nothing but hell especially if you’re at the back. If the Trim Brakes on the second air time slowed the train just a touch, then the last three inversions would be tolerable if not the smoothest in the world. Albeit, it will lose some of its intensity if the Trim Brakes are active all the time.
It is definitely the worst part of the ride! The Cobra Roll has some pretty janky profiling, and the corkscrews are quite uncomfortable when going through them. Normally I don't like trim brakes, but in this case it would probably improve the end of the ride.
The one and only ride I've had on Nemesis Reborn was in the front, so it was definitely not as intense as my last ride with the old track where I was on the back row!
It definitely doesn’t have the strongest forces in comparison to some other coasters at the park, but all the back-to-back inversions make it pretty intense!
