Okay Kat coming through with the non theatre videos and pop culture videos. Also something that happened to me this year was I graduated college again but with a degree in musical theatre and I celebrated living in nyc for 2 years.
I loved “The Last of Us” so much! All of the Emmy noms are so deserved-I cannot wait for Season 2! Bella Ramsey’s performance in episode 8 broke me, and her and Joel reuniting at the end was just so beautiful. Also Pedro and Bella’s off-screen friendship is one of the most wholesome, purest things to come out of the show. Please do a video on it!
Happy new year and congrats on the engagement! I was gonna bring up two things actually- 1 - Hunger Games Renaissance. I wasn't a hunger games girlie growing up but I loved this so much? Everyone was so happy about it and it was just so sweet to see all of the fanartists, writers, old and new fans it was just so nice from an onlooking perspective. 2 - THE FNAF MOVIE. I may have mixed opinions on the movie myself but still, it brought a community together as a whole and the reception was just great? I know te fandom can be horrible but I met so many nice people thorough talking about it? I just. Yeah.
I thought it was Keith urban who accidentally heard launched, the relationship of Bo Burnham and Phoebe Bridgers I don’t think it was Nicole Kidman think it was Keith urban😂
The spider man and beetle juice problems? Situations? Whatever they were, are one of those things I look at when I feel bad or stupid because, if all else fails at least I’m not these people
I’m sadden by Phantom’s closing. The real reason why Cameron Mackintosh and Webber closed Phantom on Broadway was because they did not want to pay royalties to the estates of Hal Prince and Dame Gillian Lynne. ALW should retire from the industry and spend more time with his family after his son died. Greed is what killed Phantom on Broadway. Looking forward to Wicked the movie though!
In 2023, after years of being an at the side theatre kid, I finally got see some actual shows. I saw six shows in all (though there was several that I wanted to see but couldn’t due to money/scheduling). I saw My Neighbour Totoro in January, SpongeBob in April, Groundhog Day in June, The Garden of Words in August, Lord of the Rings in September, and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in December. I’m hoping to see even more in 2024 like Hadestown, Mean Girls, and Shucked (if it opens in London this year like they said) but the only show I currently have booked is Spirited Away in June. Also, one of my favourite video games of all time released, Stray Gods, it’s literally an interactive Broadway musical where your choices change the songs, I really hope it wins the Grammy that it’s nominated for because the amount of complexity and work needed to do that cannot be understated. It’s also got a pretty star studded cast, Laura Bailey as the lead, Grace, Troy Baker as Apollo, Ashley Johnson as Calliope (you mentioned your love of TLOU so those two will appeal to you), Felicia Day as Athena, Khary Payton as Pan, it even has Anthony Rapp playing Orpheus at one point. It went under the radar because it released literally like two weeks into the actor’s strike. But what I’m saying, Kat, is that this is the perfect game for you and that you should play it.
Bring on Mean Girls & Wicked p1. I can't believe some of these things happened this year. I have yet to update my twitter app to x bc I don't wanna. I won't be calling it x ever. I get to see Taylor next month woo I'm going to 5 shows in Australia.
I can't wait to see wicked. The funniest is george santos trying to take credit for spiderman into the dark. Like if you were going to lie about being involved with a Broadway show you think you would pick one that wasn't a disaster
I have so many thoughts on The Last of Us season two as well! So yes! Video would be amazing!!! And also as a huge Swifty I A. Have been living this year B. Am sad to hear you have been seeing any negativity about Taylor and Travis cause overwhelming I’ve seen the positive! And also The Eras Tour Film is life especially for us girlies who didn’t get tickets. This year really has been wild
Yes please to a Last of Us video!! Also yes please to hear about or see some gaming. Thanks for always being so positive and uplifting. Congrats on the engagement.
Omg congratulations on the engagement!! I love singing and recently discovered musical theatre and are now considering signing up to a stage school! Your videos have been a huge inspiration for me and I hope you had a great new years :D
The Lauren Boebert Beetlejuice scandal is the gift that just keeps on giving. The jokes are endlessly entertaining 🤪 Between her and the George Santos Spiderman lie, it's only a matter of time before Marjorie Taylor Greene has an absurd musical scandal of her own to complete the crazy congresspeople trifecta.
I'm happy Phantom closed. There are only so many Broadway theatres and there's a lot of shows that deserve their due. 35 years....just feels too long. Like, it past Cats for longest running Broadway show eons ago.
Personally, I love that Wicked is becoming two films. There's so much that is said and not shown in the stage production that would be great to see, as well as characterizations and plot points that will be fully realized now because of the space given.
Happy New Year Kat! I’m hyped for the Wicked movie as much as you are! The show made me the musical theatre geek I am today as you probably may know right now!
I would love to be a fly on the wall to hear some of Bo and Phoebe's conversations lol they seem to compliment each other so well, I hope they are both happy
I graduated with my Child and Youth Care Counsellor degree! Joined a choir and performed (many times in a short span of time), upgraded my RCM Level for Piano :)
I always love watching your videos Kat! I hope 2024 brings you nothing but happiness, joy, and success! Also, quick little theatre flex, I just got cast in my first High School musical! We’re doing The Addams Family and I’m one of the Ancestors! I’m so excited to start rehearsal for this show, my school theatre has been amazing and the theater kids have been so supportive and kind to me. I’m happy to have such a great group of friends. Also, for Christmas my mom told me that in April she and I are going to see one of the tour performances of Beetlejuice!!! This will be my first professional musical I see live and I’m really excited! Happy New Year Kat! 💖🎉💕
The way Phantom of the Opera closed on Broadway is just so sad. I still can't move on after this tragic time considering how much that show has changed my life
Me too! I’ve never played the game, but am aware of the plot to come. I thought it wasn’t just a great adaptation, but a great show that can stand on its own! Bella, Pedro and the whole cast were incredible, and I can’t wait to see them reunite for the Emmy’s and other award shows in the coming weeks!
Hey kat! I watch all your videos and I have a really important audition for my dream role coming up in march! Do you have any tips for professionalism in theatre to impress directions?
