Finding nemo where I was told my bf (our relationship was secret btw) had AT LEAST 3 crushes. I also felt like all my friends didn't like me so I didn't talk to like anyone INCLUDING my bf because he was always talking to people who I wasn't friends with :,)
For any musical not fortunate enough to get the Hamilton treatment - bootlegs are the only way to keep these shows (let alone with the og casts) alive!
Last song I auditioned with was to challenge myself and I had it DOWN. I practiced it and knew it like the back of my hand. And I effed it up so bad bc of my nerves. The song? Getting Married Today from Company 😅😒
just getting back into theater for the first time since high school (20+ years ago), I'm average height but I'm a power lifter, I have a friend who's first reaction to me when we met was "you look like you could rip someone in half" other friends see me as a protective dad/ teddy bear, personally I've always wanted to be a villain, I think they have the best songs. Have no idea what that paired with a strong bari-tenor voice will get me but I'm ready to find out once auditions start up in my area. Thanks for your content, it's really informative.
I am a pianist so it's easy for me to find/transpose music. However, I brought in Out Here, On My Own from FAME. Not a super difficult piece to play, but the accompanist didn't know it! As he struggled to play it prior to my audition, I finally said, "Do you want me to play it?" The director burst into laughter. I guess he appreciated my question, but I think it made the accompanist feel awkward. He said he'd play it, and played it very softly, with rhythm gaps.....a disaster for both of us. I made him feel incompetent, which was not my intention. I think if I had asked the director first, if I could play for myself, it would have taken the accompanist out of the equation. Always learning......
I agree so much with her about Cathy being mainly responsible for the divorce and yes I believe Jamie never really loved her as he just said he had to be in love with someone , anyone and Cathy wasn’t giving Jamie what he wanted and he was being pulled down by her and working through it until it got so bad he couldn’t keep going with her and it’s the way Cathy handled Jamie especially in if I didn’t believe in you like if she’d have talked to him I’m not saying everything would be fine but it would have helped Jamie understand what was wrong so he could try cause at that point he was so tired of being pulled down by her and he’s human too , he didn’t deserve to feel the way he did feeling he was doing something wrong doing what he wanted to.
Audition mistake I made: When they asked for a 1 minute cut I sent them a 1 minute and 30 second cut because I believed “It wouldn’t matter that much” and wanted to show off more of my voice. I obviously didn’t get a part of any kind and I bet they didn’t even look at it.
Auditioning for The Addams Family musical and this just helped me pick between take me or leave me and Tango Maureen from Rent for my song. Take Me or Leave Me is crazy popular and might make me look uninformed. As well as I couldn’t find the exact genre of the Addams family but it’s definitely not the same as Take Me or Leave Me. However, there is tango inspired music in the show as well as a full tango song between Morticia and Gomez so this could make me look more informed on the show. I also don’t believe it’s a very popular audition song but can easily be changed into a solo (at least in a 1 minute cut) and used as one! It also shows off my vocal range pretty well and I know it and love it! So yeah. I’m convinced that Tango Maureen is perfect for me in this instance.
One time in were a couple of misfits (this was a jr show so who cares anyway but) I was hermy and we where supposed to skip around an “iceburg I think”?and there was a blanket on it and I slipped on it.
this is so so much later than when you uploaded this but genuine question, i'm going for an audition right now and they require a 16 bar audition cut, but also said one minute portion. i'm planning on singing a faster tempo song anyway, can i get away with 32 bar instead?
Auditioning for Addams Family musical soon for my university and hoping to get Wednesday Addams but would be happy with anything! Being one of the Ancestors would be so much funnnn
My type seems to be mischievous young child.😂 I played Louisa VonTrapp and Debbie Wilkinson from Billy Elliot in a row and know auditioning for little red riding hood in into the woods. I guess we’ll see!
I have a callback audition and they didn’t give a script or anything to practice. It’s a community play (and my first play) and I’m doing it with my friend, any tips?
The title made me think this was going to be a comedy video. Like, 'Number Ten: Gregorian Chant' Yes the lyrics are easy but unless the acoustical quality of the theater hall is perfect....' Stuff like that.
My casting type is a mom or a villain. I realized that cause I noticed all the roles I've ever played were villains/brats or mothers. I'm auditioning for Ida in honk! in a week and I'm soooo exited.
As a classically trained singer myself, I find it interesting that Christine doesn’t confront Carlotta, but let the phantom throw a chandelier in her face 😂
Theater is just the USA-spelling for movies. In Canada, they use theatre for both movies and plays, while British and Australia use theatre just for plays.
