I had red velvet for my wedding cake with white chocolate mousse in the middle. I also didn’t have a traditional white frosted cake. It was Tiffany blue with a chocolate bow on top. It was also a square 3 tier cake. Heaven.

Red Velvet is a flavor that constantly gets brought up around February I've noticed, especially where I live. Dairy Queen tends to make a red velvet blizzard, you find red velvet flavor ice cream, snack cakes and so much more on crazy numbers close to Valentines Day because it's just the sheer embodiment of romance. It's chocolate but red in color with a white frosting. It's just screams romance.

I had a red velvet cake at my wedding and I didn't think it was weird but maybe everyone else did? Lol. Pro tip though: cream cheese icing does not hold up well in warm weather 😬

As a baker I would never recommend cream cheese frosting for warm weather, it's just a recipe for a melted cake and potentially giving guests food poisoning.

I'm with Chris about the mint chocolate. Definitely deserved to be higher on the list imo! Although it isn't an extremely popular flavor, if I were to get it for my wedding I would just make a smaller cake and some extra cupcakes of another flavor or something so that I could enjoy my cake and everybody could get what they wanted.

I have blueberry 🫐 lemon 🍋 bread 🍞 in my fridge right now 😌 PThey had a Greenlees roadshow at Costco 😄 As a kid my favorite cake was chocolate with lemon filling. Now you'd have to special order it. Lemon raspberry is the bomb, too. I tried a new bakery with my nieces a few months ago and we got a red velvet slice, a lemon bar, a dark chocolate brownie and a lemon raspberry cupcake 🧁😆 We are definitely going back. (We also stopped at a gelato shop down the street for horchata gelato 😍)

@@dMi_mi I got a slice of lemon meringue cheesecake from cheesecake factory and poured chocolate fudge over it. The waitress gave me the idea. Love her! (Costs $4 if you do it in restaurant - Buy a jar with the $4 and do it at home w/ the slice to go 😜)

So I had a small - very small wedding- where everyone was able to choose their own cake flavor. We had miniature 3 tier cakes for our guests. The reason for this- my husband and I could not decide on a cake flavor. I had lemon vanilla and my husband had carrot cake. The other options were red velvet, chocolate, and marble. It made for a unique and delicious reception.

The solution is a grooms cake!! We had a regular wedding cake with different fillings in each layer and then a German chocolate grooms cake that’s a bit more of a smaller cake. In this scenario the grooms cake could be a mint chocolate chip and the main cake could be the lemon. Something for everyone!

My wedding cake was two flavors. Two tiers were pumpkin spice and cream cheese frosting. The other two tiers were apple cider cake with dulce de leche frosting. They were so good people still say something to me about the cake lol. We got married October 27, 2019, so the flavors were in theme with the season.

I made my own wedding cake, I had two tiers: one was chocolate with fudgey ganache, and one was vanilla with lemon curd. Both covered in white vanilla buttercream. :) Soooo… apparently 2018 me aligns well with your ranking! 😅

The whole purpose of a grooms cake is to allow the man to have something he wants that the bride thinks is an abomination 😂 Christopher could have mint chocolate for his grooms cake. 😎 At my wedding, my mother’s insistence was on having appropriate flavors, so I think we went with vanilla and lemon in different tiers. With buttercream frosting, because fondant tastes like ass 🤪

Having a groom’s came seems to be kind of a regional thing, but I absolutely love them. It also lets the groom have something dedicated solely to his interests, and it doesn’t have to be as sturdy as a stacked wedding cake (which often translates to tastier)!

My husband and I both agree with Chris. In our mind weddings are about you so if you like the cake who cares if it is appropriate or not. The wedding cake should be what you want not want the masses will enjoy, and you could always offer a more neutral option on the side. We personally had a apple spice cake (autumn wedding) in the shape of a pumpkin.

This was really interesting to watch! We didn’t have a “normal” cake at our wedding - we had a traditional Danish wedding cake (my husband is half Danish), which is an almond marzipan cake and then we chose a passion fruit mousse cake with lots of mini versions of it around it. We liked it, but people didn’t recognize our wedding cakes as being the cakes because neither of our choices were “normal” wedding cakes!

I've heard there is a caterer who gives the bride and groom a pan of food from the wedding for the next day because they never get to eat much at the reception so this way they actually get to enjoy the food they paid for. A friend of mine had an almond cake with Amaretto frosting. That was the best wedding cake I've ever tasted.

Getting married in August. Our cake is a yellow cake with strawberry filling and American buttercream frosting. The cake is so good it melts in your mouth. We are so excited to get married so that we can have more of that cake! We've now ordered a grooms cake so we can have even more! :)

I had two weddings lol, the small legal wedding where I did my own cake - vanilla filled with lemon curd and raspberries. And the bigger fun party which my mom made the cake for and that had 3 flavors - red velvet, carrot cake (family recipe), and just a plain vanilla. We were in lockdown for 10 years but our 12.5 is next year so we're having a big celebration for that. It's a Dutch tradition to celebrate because it's halfway to 25!

Regarding Red Velvet: Please tell me you have “Steel Magnolias” in Canada. There was a red velvet armadillo cake. We had a vanilla wedding cake and a red velvet groom’s cake, 1) because we’re Southern (met and married in Tennessee), and 2) it was in the shape of a Staples “EASY” button (husband is an IT nerd and worked at Staples at the time).

Happy anniversary! My cake was a straight-out-of-the-case iced but undecorated dairy queen ice cream sheet cake. I plopped a Mary's Moo Moo's figurine on it and that was it! It was -36 degrees at our wedding, we just left the cake out on the porch and brought it in to warm up a bit before eating.

We chose cheesecake for our wedding cake…4 tiers, 4 flavors…raspberry swirl, fudge swirl, amaretto and plain. Even though cheesecake is kind of polarizing, it was by far the best cake I’ve ever had and have no regrets!!

Rachel I can trust nothing you say after the “I don’t like icing” comment 😂🤷🏼‍♀️. Icing is key to me! I had assorted flavoured cupcakes for my very small wedding/elopement. I’ve had a few friends recently though have 3 different flavoured cakes that they did on tiered cake stands and I honestly think that’s the best way to go- bride and groom get what they want and generally there will be at least one flavour people will like!

Every time I see red velvet cake I’m reminded of how on Newlyweds, Jessica Simpson said that was their wedding cake. We all know how that marriage ended up, but I don’t think it was the cake’s fault. Red velvet is definitely wedding appropriate!

I had white chocolate raspberry with a classic buttercream frosting, it was amazing! Lemon Vanilla sounds awesome! Red Velvet would absolutely be a wedding appropriate and delish wedding cake, as well as the chocolate fudge, yum, would definitely get behind that! Chris, I love chocolate mint, but as a wedding cake I think you have to the whole wedding into perspective. I think guests drinking alcohol the chocolate mint would be toothpaste like. We got married last fall and had two flavours; vanilla lemon and chocolate, in two separate tiers.

Nice! My hubs and I just celebrated our 15th anniversary last week. We had a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream frosting at our wedding. It was SOOO good and I ate so much of it. As much as Rachh loves cookies, I love cake.

We had three layers with 3 flavors: caramel for the largest layer since it seemed the most crowd pleasing, cookies and cream for the middle layer and the best layer was raspberry champagne. Amazing! I've ordered one of the raspberry champagne for Christmas and anniversaries for the past 2 years since it was so wonderful.

Our wedding cake was literally my biggest bridezilla moment. I wanted a nice cake with a cake tasting, but I got a WalMart cake and my husband told me that the cake was the least important thing in the wedding. 12 years later, we still fight about it and I haven’t let it go. He should have known that when food is involved, it is my number one!

I chose my mom’s wedding cake and it was red velvet with cream cheese frosting. The outside was rustic looking with fresh flowers. The cake was amazing and everyone loved it. The red pop of color was a huge surprise for everyone when they cut the cake🥰

Just got married two months ago! We had a two tiered cake and 6 dozen cupcakes. We had 4 different flavors. My favorite was chocolate with coffee filling. My husbands was carrot cake with almond filling

We had a tiny cake, just because my husband wanted to do the traditional cake cutting. It was vanilla with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. We had a pie buffet for our guests! It was amazing!! Funny thing is, we cut the cake and took photos, but didn't actually taste any. We brought the slice back to our table, but it disappeared before we could eat it😂. Thankfully we got the rest of the cake to take home, and it was amazing🙂

Just had my wedding and had gf/keto wedding cake I made myself and had one layer chocolate cake peanut butter filling and chocolate whipped ganache frosting and another layer strawberry jam filling vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream.

we had a 3-tier cake and each level was separate so we actually chose 3 flavors. Red velvet, marble and spiced (it was a fall wedding, so all matched our theme too). We did do the marble as the biggest layer though since it was the classic 2 flavors that we couldn't choose between!

My husband and I watched this video together and we laughed so hard because my husband completely agreed with Christopher and I completely agreed with Rachel. We had the same feelings about each different flavor.
