I feel like jmcrofts is just dark timeline Rooflemonger. Played a grappler in SF2 and the time line splits. jm goes the way of the zoner instead of sticking with it smh.
@@HoseB932 Falco with fox's recovery or speed would be significantly better than falco with fox's upsmash. Falco has less problems killing than almost any character in the game, but gets rocked if someone gets their hands on him. Give him either of those aspects of fox's though and he's the best character in the game no question, his moveset is I would say generally better than fox's, fox just has way better mobility and longevity and almost as good a toolkit as far as moves go which makes him a better (the best) overall character.
@@mattpritchard3137 Yeah, Falco moves like mud. Falco has a ridiculous kit on paper, but he has the least chances to access it out of probably every top tier.
I've been watching your videos for a while and this video just clicked with me with the amount of work you put into them. You included youtube chapters, put some of your own gameplay clips with the characters in, interesting talking points and giving enough surface level info for those not familiar with the character/game, made sure to not gender Ash, and it really shows that you are sharing something you're really passionate about when you're always smiling and having a good time. Keep it up!
@@jmcrofts I second that. Dude, I don't even play fighting games but your videos are so well made, in a very simple and straight to the point way, and you're so enthusiastic about that I just keep on watching random videos from games I've never even played. lol
I know right, i'm pretty decent at tekken but i suck at literally any other fighting game, yet this guy's videos are so entertaining even if i never played the game he's talking about
Well this tier list is basically saying "if you're *looking to get into this game*, here's my recommendation based on my main", not for people who already play the game and establish the characters they wanna play.
@@unholymackerel8072 I figured, just thought it was funny since Kanji was the character was my main on day 1 while I didn't know anything about the Persona series
Yeah, too many requirements to actually enjoy playing Ash I feel: You need to like charge characters, zoning, and hard af execution combos. Definitely a specialist type of character.
The one we have in common is Kazumi in Tekken 7. I didn't play a ton of Tekken 7, I'd like to play more but out of the few characters I tried I really enjoyed her the most. I've played Tekken since 3 so I have a lot of what they call legacy skill. And I loved how she was a mishima with a lot of other styles & moves from other characters splashed in with a lot of her own. I thought she was a very well designed character.
I respect your mains but I really dislike playing zooners or that kind of projectile characters but I may try it just to see what do like in those character. I'm usually a rush down and grapplers type player.
Axl should be higher I play him agressively and for a lot of people its offense and pressure can be hard to deal with thx to rainwater and its instant overhead 50/50 And the bomber combos are really fun to do and really really damagin
YouI like your voice. You're so friendly and enthusiastic about the things you like that hearing you speak soothes me. Thank you! Subscribing to your channel was one of my best last year decisions!
This was a great video idea! I do wish you cut off the bottom so we couldn’t see who you were picking though. Also I just play the Bruce Lee character in every game. All of them are absolute must plays to me lmao
Axl is one of the few characters I've ever gotten serious with in fighting games, and I'll say he's a must play. He isn't good against some of the cast like Chipp or Sol, who can bully the hell out of him, but he's got some characters who are basically guaranteed wins like Potemkin or Goldlewis, and he's really good (at least in my experience) against a lot of the top tiers like Nago or Chaos
I actually discovered your channel when I was curious about Fantasy Strike, you had a lot of videos of it up at the time. Did you never play in tournaments in that game? You seemed like a pretty big proponent of Argagarg so I was surprised he didn't make the list.
Fantasy Strike was also the game that made me find JM, he had such great info on the game, but patches took out some of the broken stuff (in especific the samurai 50/50 wake up mix up that would just knock down oponent again if he guessed correctly). Still a good game to play, but player base had vanished after Strive droped, and its been years since i played it, but i might just open it up today, see if i find anyone online
Urien is by far my favorite street fighter character, I love edgy bastards like him, but god damn if he isn't the hardest character to learn. Not only do you need to be good at charge characters, you also gotta learn charge petitioning and character-specific setups for aegis. He's so difficult, but I love him too much to drop
Hey! why no fantasy strike characters on here? I think you even did play in a few tourney's with them back i the day. It was what got me started watching your channel in fact!
On release in SF5 Ibuki was one of the worst. But in season 2 she was top 2. So she had a few months of being terrible and fighting S1 chun, ryu and mika. Then everyone got nerfed and Ibuki+Urien rose to the top with balrog
@@notimeforcreativenamesjust3034 yeah, she's pretty good. Just one of those characters who was eclipsed by a DLC later in the games lifespan. Lots of decent characters dont see much play with a cast that big.
Akuma is both in the top and second from top category. I played him both when I was really strong in the game of Street Fighter Alpha and after I fell off. Rose and Gen are absolute must plays for veterans and avoid these heroes for newer players. Ryu and Ken are solid for newer to middle of the row players. Nighthawk was my favorite character when I was good at Mortal Kombat. I also played the robots more when I was really good. Nighthawk falls into that Akuma category since I played him both when I was good and when I fell off. The robots I would not recommend for new players. Subzero/Scorpion are solid picks if you are new. Adda from Tekken is my recommendation if you are good at Tekken. I do not remember the rest of the characters in that game. The Tiger and The Beetle are two solid characters for Bloody War 2. Less the Beetle if you are new.
I would definitely put axl in solid pick now, some disagree some do agree but i just think with how the game is now and his buffs, he's in a pretty alright place right now, also nutty conversions.
I'm late to the party here but during the T.Hawk segment it shows him playing against what looks like a Vega to me but the game lists his name as Balrog. What's up with that? I never played SF2 so I genuinely don't know.
Bison, Vega and Balrog had different original names in japanese. Bison was actually Vega, Balrog was M Bison and Vega was Balrog. The names were changed overseas because people didn't want the Mike Tyson reference with the boxer character after the controversies. That's why in international tournaments these characters are called Dictator, Claw and Boxer to not get things confused between Japan and everywhere else.
I find Yang and Akuma both fun to play in 3rd Strike, even though Yun and Ken are better characters. Although Chun Li is the best, I find her pretty boring to play.
she definitely is less restricted with oil combos and setup, her dash mix up can catch you if not careful. I've faced only 2 since patch, a friend of mine and a Legend rank one who whooped my ass with her new stuff. Though everybody got something out of the patch and I'm fine with the changes especially with Vanguard, he is so fun to play.
A fellow Chaos main! Well… I’m a Chaos secondary who actually mains Vatista but… Yeah, compared to other puppets Azhi Dahaka is a lot easier to work with than you think, mostly just because it’s got rekkas and is easier to move around safely, compared especially to puppets like Eddie and Luma. Hold a button, it moves forward. Double-tap down to keep it in place. Plus, typically by the time you finish a ground series into air series, Chaos will have regenned Azhi, and Chaos himself isn’t helpless, what with his dodge and shine. He’s just fun.
I really don’t like Cerabella. I usually don’t struggle learning characters but I found Cerabella really hard. I play Filia because I’m a scrub and big band because big fist go burrrrr
Guilty Gear Strive bothers me. I'd been playing Sol Badguy in his various iterations for more than 20 years, and now he is so slow with an entirely different move set and timing, and the game is no longer balanced toward aggressive play. It just doesn't feel like Guilty Gear to me. Beautiful graphics and great soundtrack, though. I just wasn't looking to learn a whole new animal.
ii think it's F'd up that the SF devs hate native americans so much that they took T.Hawk out of SF, white washed the hell out of him, and jammed him into an extreme sports franchise game.
You should do a video on the existence of scores in fighting games. Why are they there? What’s the point of having them in versus mode? Letter and number scoring at the end of matches lol. This usually pertains to older games but would be great to see a game by game comparison of usage
@@penismightier9278 That’s why I’m super happy to see ratio tournaments pop up! We can actually see Arthur in a viable way. More chances for characters to shine!
@@bluerazzrush It definitely impacts Marvel 2 more than 3, but yeah I do like what they've been doing with ratio tourneys lately. I'd kind of like to see someone start working on an EX rebalance for Marvel 2 like UMvC3 has now.
