Bryan Breese in tier 3 is just criminal, the guy has the talent and the ability of a top 15 pic. Context matters obviously with his college career but he has shown enough to be a top pick.
Kobie Turner was a friend of my sister’s in HS, brother of a HS teammate of mine. Met him quite a few times. Amazing dude, absolute teddy bear off the field and smart as hell. I wish him the best of luck in the league
Aaron Donald had twice as many tackles for loss (28.5) than Bryan Bresee had just TACKLES (15 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss) in their respective final years. Thank you for shutting down the Aaron Donald comparisons you're the best.
Show me which season Aaron Donald played coming off an ACL tear and shoulder surgery coupled with a Kidney infection and the death of his sister. I'll wait.. In all fairness the Aaron Donald comp is ridiculous. Bryan Bresee's true comp is JJ Watt. Bryan Bresee is the most underrated player in the draft and will likely be one of the best players in the NFL if injuries don't derail his career. Also, Will Mcdonald has a better NFL career than Tyree Wilson and Will Anderson. You heard it here first.
Watching Mazi Smith successfully 2-gap on that island he was on at 16:18 is insane. If he doesn't make a tremendous play there, that run breaks for double digits.
Do you think we could get a video sometime about why Tennessee's offense is so far away from an NFL offense, being that's such a huge talking point in Hendon Hooker's eval as a prospect? Love the content 💯
It's because everything is so spread out and vertical in Tennessee offense. They'll put 3 guys on 1 side and the best receiver Hyatt on the other. Then you just bank on your receivers being so much faster they get open a third of the time. If you throw down field 15 yards 3 times you only need to complete once. NFL corners are not letting receivers get so open. That's why so few Oregon OSU and UM QBs work out. They're practically playing catch with recievers 5 inches and 30 pounds heavier than the DB. Then you have the hashes closer. So line up right hash and running back goes left and he has 2/3 of the field to get outside. You'll see the o line even is way spread out. They count on superior recruiting to get those guys. Then Hooker himself used his legs to give time for all those vertical routes. And everything is out of shotgun
It’s an RPO based spread offense. The spread offense cannot exist in the NFL like that because of rule differences. Hooker didn’t have to make difficult throws frequently. He only went to his second read 15% of plays, so one has to wonder how well he goes through progressions, as well.
We played against Mazi Smith my Senior year of high school and decided that we just couldn't block the guy. I (RT) was out with a torn ACL, and our team was a 95% run team. We decided to run an option or triple option almost every single play and NEVER blocked Mazi (he was always the read guy). Mazi entirely dictated our game plan, but in the end, we won 41-38 after an onside kick following our last touchdown.
It seems like everyone has their opinions about Bryan Bresee. Some people said that he is number 2 DT in this class. He was being mocked to my Lions at 18th overall. I've never seen this much disagreement over a DT prospect lol
Love the rankings! One thing to touch on, you raved about Turner (I love him as a prospect too) but didn't really touch on what makes him tier 3. Could you elaborate on some of his weaknesses that keep him from the higher tiers?
i introduced my dad to your videos the other day because he was looking to enjoy football at a level deeper than the surface - i was definitely correct to because you never miss and i love your analysis haha - the quality is always top notch!
Grover Stewart is such a good comp for Clark. Love Stewart's game. One of those guys that doesn't flash a ton but is constantly winning his battles and disrupting the inside run.
I still believe in Bryan Bresee and i feel like he's still a day 1 pick his last 2 years were unfortunate but his tape as freshman in clemson speaks top 10 pick. If a team were to give him a chance and be patient with him to get to his back self i feel like they can get Chris Jones type of player
I couldn’t agree with you more, context matters and he played through multiple injuries, covid year and his sisters tragic illness and unfortunate passing. This kid is a stud and in his year 2 he Will be ready to wreck defences like Chris jones or Suh type of baller
Have a friend who knew him in hs, absolutely 0 bad things to say about the kid as a person and his work ethic. I think he’ll end up figuring it all out once he gets his mind right & has a good support system
I knew and played against the guy in high school, that boy plays with MANIACAL effort and power…an absolute freight train. Ironically I was worried that he would perform poorly his freshman year because he wasn’t suuuuper polished bc he played against such weak comp and just didn’t need anything other than his freak strength height and speed to win but it turned out to be his best year as a college athlete and that year alone is proof he is worth a early second round pick because he has the freak athleticism and size (I’ve never seen a DT at his size that had such an explosive get off/first step and hands, he’s truly freakishly gifted athletically speaking).. he just needs a coach who believes in him and an elite Dline coach & D coord to mold him into the elite weapon I know he can be in the NFL.
Love these!! Especially following an IDL-needy team, I know what kinda works for us, what kinda doesn't!! Best football content on RU-vid Brett, can't thank you enough! P.S: WDYM 30-ish draftable edges?! That means that every team is gonna draft one ON AVERAGE... wow, edge rushers for everybody!!
Taking notes for who the Steelers should take sounds like Benton, smith, Clark, dexter, or Coburn for the hole at nose tackle. Steelers lack of beef in the middle (and underperforming linebackers) contributed to getting consistently gashed on inside run play.
Holy fuck, dude. No need to apologize. That's a badass looking living space you have going on. Keep doing what you're doing - your videos are badass and educational.
Man coming here after the draft and realizing my team (browns) drafted ikea in the 3rd round when a lot of people including Brett don’t even have him as a guy who should of went in the 6th damnit lol
I would love for Philly to draft Keanu Benton. They prefer to use a lighter box, so his run defense next to Jordan Davis would allow them to focus on preventing big plays & protect their smaller LBs. His pass rushing ability is impressive. You can really see his wrestling background in the way he uses leverage. It would be even better if Philly could make a small trade back from 10 to get him.
Brett, there is also football character concerns. There's talks georgia coaches have to motivate him to take practice seriously. And in the game, even when georgia rotates their lineman, he gets tired.
I am surprised you're so low on Breese. I feel as he has that Chris Jones upside with just how good his lateral agility is. Would most def put him tier 2 and probably better than Mazi, Benton, and Kancey.
Love everything you do! I wish you had the name of the prospect on the bottom corner while you are talking about the players. With my ADHD I end up rewinding the clip 3-7 times trying to remember what player you are talking about.
Jacob Slade was a guy I thought flashed every time I watched Michigan State. Offensive lines paid him a lot of attention after 2021. I think Injuries have slowed him down.
Do you think that Brian Brieses problems are due to his injury/sickness/losing his sister.”? I have heard he is a top 10 talent but off the field stuff messed things up.
I think the issue with kicking Kancey inside is that he's not long enough to take on tackles on early downs. Inside his short arms and general lack of length won't hurt him, and while his weight certainly won't do him any favors, I think it's realistic to expect him to add 10 or so pounds and play at 290, which is still undersized but still acceptable. Basically, he can get a bit heavier and build strength -- and his movement skills are so exceptional, he can afford to lose a tiny bit of explosiveness if it boosts his power -- but he can't get any longer. I just think he gets neutralized at 4-6 tech, but he at least has a chance to bear shorter-armed guards to the punch.
I agree with your assessment on Mazi Smith and Benton. I like Kancey, but I honestly think that he'll have an issue against the run at the next level. I'm also a fan of Zach Pickens and Siaki Ika .
Brett, you should listen to Rod Marinelli talk in the channel 670 The score. He shares some good insights on the 3 tech position and d lineman as a whole.
wow never heard of Jalen Redmond but I'm a believer after seeing those highlights. Should be tier 3. Looks better than most the people you have ahead of him.
It’s interesting to see how high u are on Benton vs being lower on Bresee. Seems like everybody has some varied opinions on this class. It’s looks pretty good towards the top half tho.
Kancey is going to have EXACTLY the same role as Aron Donald. He is the same size as Donald and he is faster than Donald. Kancey had a better 40 time a better 3 cone time and a higher vertical jump.
so you live in obviously a really nice apartment that looks like its right in the middle of skid row or right next to it, i didn't even know you lived in LA, never really thought about it until i saw the one wilshire out the window and decided to look it up.
personally, having heard that jalen carter did stop, and call the cops and the cops let him leave i would still be really happy if my hawks got him at 5 but i seriously doubt we will pick him
Really interesting stuff! Do you think Adebawore could work as an edge rusher? I feel like a guy that runs a 4.49 and has 33 inch arms could work there. Especially since it sounds like he'll struggle against the run on the interior.
