It's kind of sad how Shea's win will always be bittersweet because although she got her redemption and she absolutely DESERVED that crown, it will always be from a season that's regarded as the worst on the show because she's the only one who got a redemption arc from her time in there
jimbo too. both of them lost the season they were meant to win so they had a season designed specifically for them and it was painfully obvious so everyone turned against them. (this is going to be controversial but i think the same happened with rajah o'hara, i didn’t find her on canada vs the world that special but her win there felt like compensation for not winning as6 which i think was her season in my opinion) at least with queens like chad and alaska who were definitely pushed to win their seasons there was genuine competition so the season was still good, the as5 and 8 casts were so imbalanced so shea and jimbo couldnt possibly lose again which is so sad because the filler queens didn’t get a chance.

The problem of as8 is that you could predict it. If maybe Jimbo ended up going home near top 5 it would've been a gagging season. Or muse going home during the forensic queens

My literal only tiny disagreement watching this video is the lack of acknowledgment for Mo Heart on AS4!! Her performance in every episode and her overall redemption from S10 was a huge part of what made AS4 so magical to me 💖 totally agree with the ranking and all your thoughts tho!
I think it would've been fun for AS7 if they had the lip sync assassin twist and make it hella rigged, like if Jinkx won a challenge she would have to lipsync against Detox or Alaska or Roxxxy. Then if Raja would win, she lipsyncs against Manila, The Vivienne with Divina, Yvie with Brooke/Silky, Jaida with Gigi, Shea with Sasha, Monet with the person who eliminated her, Trinity with Peppermint. Like if its gonna be rigged, at least make it fun and stupid and give them a fun storyline where their rivals who beat them/they beat would try to best them in a lipsync.
as7 at 5th place is very questionable… ofc it’s your opinion but come on, that felt like the biggest season yet. It was fun and had a different energy, the runways were the best and they all did pretty great every week.
The only season I am 100% sure I'll never watch again is season 5. I probably enjoy season 8 more than most people, but I actually love it 😂. Not my number 1, season one is (duh...), but up there with 3 for me.
if the fame games is all about the runway they should make a voting on the looks, the way they did it literally just looked like the miss congeniality voting so like they voted based of personalities and the girl closest to fan favorite that had the triple of votes won
About All Stars 7... you're right and you should say it. Obviously the cast + runways are grrat, but the complete lack of competitiveness and narrative momentum made it not very exciting to watch.
One thing AS5 is worth rewatching for are the runways. Love the skin that you're in, Camo couture, Freak Out, Final eleganza extravaganza, we got some of the best runways in the history of RPDR.
I just finally finished up to S12/AS5 and when I finished AS5, I thought "wow this is my favorite all stars by far.", so I laughed when I found out its considered one of the worst!! xD A great video as always, I really enjoy all of your content.

My ranking #8 Allstars5 - Chemistry was off, short season, predictable and cast full of queens not known for lip sync prowess and thats the twist of the season #7 Allstars8 - Jimbo winning was a given, lack of star quality and Kandy being pushed when shes not that good + being the reason one of the actual stars quits #6 Allstars1 - bad twist, lack of episodes but its more fun on rewatch than you think #5 Allstars4 - I dont think the cast had great chemistry, challenges let it down. Gia gunn was fun though #4 Allstars6 - I loved the cast and the twist but wish it felt a bit more fun, nice to see some redemption #3 Allstars7 - winners coming back was always going to be entertaining. I loved that the wanted to show everyone as the best but wish there were realistic critiques and viv was robbed in that one challenge #2 Allstars3 - maybe minority here but I loved this season and think its really rewatchable, bebe coming back, the returning queens ep, bendela eliminating herself. The voting was rigged by the queens voting but even then i loved that they came back again and had something else to do #1 Allstars2 - perfect cast, we didnt know what to expect, great interactions with the girls. Felt like alaska was going to win but she was really good and we still go to see Katya shine, read you wrote you. The mirror clapback. Just so good
I do NOT want another AS for a hot minute, but this video makes me want a season of people who didn't win their respective AS season(s)...Also I don't know why but I just never got AS6 the way most people do, but the way you talked about it made me change my tune (edited for spelling and clarification)
I have not personally experienced a season of all stars that didn't clearly feel like an all stars. 95% of the queens who have been on the series are successful artists and entertainers with followings and fans... THAT is what a "star" is... The audience of drag race just likes to sit on their couches and say that successful queer performers aren't "stars"... the most condescending and delusional sentiment as all these queens are on the most popular queer television program in history living their DREAMS. Literally what "stars" do... Even if they dont pop on screen for you the way you want does not diminish their star in any way shape or form. You hating on them shows who you are, not who they are.

My biggest issue with each of the all star seasons: 1. Teams. 2. The Rolaskatox trio ruining the suspense. 3. The jury twist. 4. Manila getting eliminated (season sucked once she left) 5. Shea's forced redemption. 6. Pandora not givenna win. A missed storyline. I guess they were planning on giving her the snatch game win, but fell through. 7. The finale 8. Jimbo/Kandy favouritism.
i think AS7 suffered from being filmed towards the tail end of the pandemic. i think it would've felt bigger and more grandiose if they could've have more guest appearances from past contestants and judges etc. then maybe it wouldn't have the vibe of a really expensive yacht party that only had 8 guests invited
All Stars 8 l's main reason for being the worst?: Kandy Muse and the favoritism of Kandy Muse. Yes, Jimbo also got favoritism, but in a majority of cases she actually did great. Kandy got too many passes.

AS8 took the right lesson of showcasing overshadowed queens from AS6, but also wanted to crown Jimbo from the start. Not that Jimbo isn't a deserving winner and I don't think the season was "made" for her, but the biggest charm of AS6 was that they gave all the queens their flowers, even rigging it to do so.
Yeah. They also should’ve kept this in mind when coming up with the format. If they knew Jimbo was a powerhouse and they also wanted to crown her, they should’ve done a Top 2 format in order to give other girls better chances.
the season was made for her tho cause she had no competition with Heidi leaving. Heidi, Jessica and Kandy would've been her biggest competition all together but with Heidi leaving, a big hitter for storylines and generally was out.
I heard of rumors of the season being a frankenstien of the remaining cast of two all stars seasons that were supposed to air around the time of all stars 8 being an early outs season and a fan-favorite season however both cast were too small so they ended up fusing the seasons and casting Naysha last minute, so the season was def not made her in a sense, i think it just feels that way cause the two seasons that had to be fused together would have had wildly different cast with one being more stronger then the other when it came to their runs
@@arcadialoll Heidi could've won the acting, Mrs Kasha Davis could've won RDR live, Jessica could've won the Roast. Jimbo should've been in the bottom for the Rusical. Jujubee should've won the Snatch Game instead of Shea but that's it.
I REALLY need to rewatch AS4 to get that "Monet slaying the competition" because her being in the top 2 and winning caught me by surprise; most of her glow up was on the looks department and, comparing to what she presented on her original season, that wasn't hard. Meanwhile, Monique had a reaaaally bigger glow up, coming from the same season as her, did much better all season long, most of her bottoms were questionable (like in the girl group, really..?), had the best storyline and still wasn't even on the finale. To me, it was her season to win ALONE.
I completely agree with your points about Monique. It was frustrating to me as a viewer that she never got her flowers in the end. Trinity, Monique or Manila to me dominated that season.

@@deyoncew3311Lol Bob just didn't like AS6 because in their words, Bob's a messy bitch. I think they didn't care for redemption storylines since Bob already knows the queens beyond the show and know what they're capable of. It was surprising for us to watch, but it was expected for Bob.
My one significant preference for AS6 over AS2 is that production has done away with the "villain" edit. No longer do they do the absurdly mean-spirited practice of completely destroying a queen's reputation with manipulative editing. For every star Drag Race used to launch, they would put their boot on the career of another. AS2 gives us the complete destruction of Jaremi for no reason. AS6 gives us the redemption of Raja. Jaremi's big dramatic moment lasted 5 minutes. Raja's redemption was a joy to watch for the entire season.
Except AS6 somehow had to burry 2-3 queens in the edit (Scarlett, Pandora, Akeria most notably) for no reason, it's as if they were never in the cast. As a Scarlett stan I am genuinely still annoyed at this, she was doing so good and got 0 flowers
all winners should have a 5 for the cast for sure. they cast the queens who had their win doubted and ridiculed by the fans and then also invited back jinkx and raja to re introduce themselves, everyone was there for a reason and to prove something. although i love queens like bianca, bob and alaska and wanted to see them they would of thrown the vibe of the season off so much because they’re such powerhouses and they have nothing to prove unlike the queens that were actually cast if that makes sense. and i get that you want older queens but we already had bebe and she could barley keep up on as3 so she definitely wouldn’t excel at all winners, tyra wasn’t there for obvious reasons, same with sh*ron. i really don’t think chad cares and bianca + violet definitely would never compete again.
I would switch AS6 for AS4. Other than the finale, I wouldn’t really want to change anything else. Latrices elimination with MoHeart. Manila crying every episode. Valentina confessions. I even liked the make over challenge. But whatever, Life’s Not Fair 😢

Based off of just the first episode, Hydra is my #1. Talent, looks, makeup, an iconic introduction, and everyone being intimidated by her... what more could you ask?
a slight change they could make to the platinum plunger is revealing the challenge to everyone but the top 2. like after the top 2 lip sync, take them to a different room or cover their ears and tell the other queens what next weeks challenge is. that way the viewers see all of it and it adds a bit of confusion for the top 2 + higher stakes on their choice of who to block
Something like that could work! Otherwise, award them 10k and the platinum plunger and tell them that at the start of the next week they will have the opportunity to block. Then we would start every episode with the drama of the plunger and end every episode with the triumph of a queen's victory.
SO glad to see AS4 get her flowers, I felt like everyone disregarded it bc of the finale, but after a rewatch a couple years ago, it’s one of my absolute favorite seasons. The cast is STACKED and it’s a very fun ride. And the finale was… questionable at best. But also one of my all-time faves won, so I can’t even complain about the double win too much 🤷🏻♀️
I would actually agree with as6 being the best. Partially because it was my first but I also think it was really well done in terms of challenges, voting, lipsyncs and cast. As2 will always be number 2 because of rolaskatox which made for good tv but was really frustrating to watch each week. Like as2 made me mad a bit whereas as6 did not
I also really love the diversity that was in as6 and felt it really helped the season especially given how nice the cast was and how supportive they were for each other over all
@deyoncew3311 my higher ranking for 8 is completely a personal bias! The cast was so stacked for my own personal taste. Kasha and Darienne are two of my absolute favorites who never get any love from the fandom. Then we've got Alexis and Kandy, who I think always got more hate than they deserved and I'm happy they did so well. Then there's Jessica. Ohmygod Jessica. Just.... Jessica.
I feel like AS8 could have been a lot stronger and a lot more entertaining without Jimbo, (I love Jimbo, and he was my winner since promos) I just feel from the start the producers already knew they wanted her to win, and it made the season seem predictable and lacklustre!! In more news, the drag duel cast is so fricken strong!! I feel like I am more excited for this cast and season then I have been for a drag race season these days!! I can’t even pick a favourite at the yet, they are all unique and have something different to root for 🙏🏼
Derrick just finished the first episode and voted. Loving the diversity of the cast. The lack of UK Queens is sad tho but I love it so far. Sheneezda, Bobby and Trisha are my favs so far

I'd actually say Manila, *Mo* and Trinity, because Monét actually did kinda average and got favoritism on the Makeover and Snatch Game episodes, while Mo got an unfair bottom placement in episode 2. I was going to say AS8 wasn't too bad, but then I remembered I never finished watching the last episode. Come on we all knew who was going to win. After Jessica left, the ending was predictable. I was thinking the fame games would be interesting, but it was also kind of boring.
The problem with on AS winner knowing which challenges come next in order to let them strategize who to block next would cause the blocked one (likely to be expected to perform well in the challenge) to bomb the challenge, not put any effort in it No one wants that Production doesn't want that They wanted everyone at their A game instead Which i'm not sure they were
The only rhing I'd change about your list is All Stars 7 and All Stars 3. All Stars 3 just doesnt do it for me, the riggory sours it hard. But I love your love for All Stars 4! I hear alot of talk in the fandom that All Stars 3 is way better than 4 and I just don't see it. I think what's most interesting is All Stars 6 being one of, if not the best All Stars seasons ever and All Stars 8 is clearly the worst yet their formats are so similar.
Allstars 5 was my least favorite I was bored any yea they tried to make Cracker the villain and it didn’t work Cracker also basically dominated the season and then they gave Shea the win anyway
I actually started watching drag race because of your videos, a few months ago i watched one of your videos and it was so great, i wanted to actually watch the series to know what you were talking about (which isn't what i do with most videos talking about something i haven't seen) so ive watched everything drag race that hulu and paramount plus had, and im pretty obsessed with it now! So thanks for persuading me into watching this amazing show!!!
I call bs. Why would you watch a 20-30 min video of a youtuber you don't know about a show you've never watched before. The algorithm would never recommend it and you wouldn't look for it, it doesn't make any sense

Allstar 5 and 8 are the same thing. We knew who the winner was from the beginning. A couple people got rigged and people being scared to vote. I truly believe if Indiah did a 180 and safes Derrick and then shea went home that episode when she was in the bottom the season would’ve been crazy good.
It drives me crazy when people don’t rank all stars 2 as the best season of all time so thank you. That’s my comfort season. I rewatch A LOT. I did name my cat Alaska as she is my favorite drag queen.
All stars 2 is so unbelievably prime bc the very first episode you have season 2 girlie Tatiana doing something completely out of the box and Absolutely Iconic with same parts
I know he was expecting slander for this list but if you put your season bias aside, this is a solid ranking. AS7 is still my fave and I understand why they chose to have a "softball" kinda cast for its first season of that format but he is right about what it's lacking. This is great objective ranking ❤️

the AS8 season was made for Jimbo tho cause she had no competition with Heidi leaving.
