I agree with all your EA scores except for nhlpa 93 to me its doesn't have the one timer or the full names of the teams but it had the fighting and the hits with blood which to me is better than nhl 94 I n now there are alot of people who think different but i know there are people who like 93 better also and it was the game that was in the film Swingers.

Awesome video John, so happy to see someone repping the Genesis. For me, Desert Strike was the perfect rental game. After school on a Friday, get your mom to dish out for the 3 day rental, beat it by Sunday afternoon, do it again a few months later. Come to think of it, a lot of these EA titles were perfect rentals. Thanks again man, keep on keeping on.

Sort of did this year (92) because of the Madden 93 Championship edition (madden 93 plus dlc) and also Dream Team Basketball (which seems to be a reskin of Lakers vs Bulls).

@Sinn0100 2 месяца назад
Oh, they weren't the first to start "DLC" ever made was in Double Dragon 3 in the arcades. You put your quarter in to start and after your first fight, a storefront opens in game. Here you can pay real money to increase your characters' stats, buy extra lives (you only get 1 per quarter), temporary weapons... etc. Back then, we knew better than to support that garbage. The game was a complete and utter failure. It technically killed Double Dragon for a long time.

I do not own Rolo anymore but to the subject matter that should be lead on and emphasised is this leading role figure swap re-emerges in a much later game Pocahontas. I think both said games become difficult too soon but it is a good concept in games people play.
@openskiesmedia
@openskiesmedia 3 года назад
@@janfreidun Pocahontas is truly one of the unsung gems of the 16 bit era. The graphics are incredible and the use of both characters is really sophisticated. Tanglewood is an awesome game but it seems a little like a dumbed-down version of Pocahontas to me.
@janfreidun
@janfreidun 3 года назад
I think that I would not go bak to any of them while I do like the ways theyre planned In tadem with a play style where delicate details matter, but I find both of them so difficult, like my collection has through all this shop and swap that only two games are there that has been there since I grew up those are Sonic Spinball and Taz Mania.I liked the concept outlook of both Rolio and Pochahontas as I am drawn to games that areent just about getting to the other end of a level asap, before my demise into a case where my mental state has gotten worse I tried to film clips and talk about game by´it got the best side of me until i felt totally burned. I have else noted that videos are best done fullyn down to earth and as I had beem suggested but someone I know "make it so, i can feel as if I have good buddy in front of me." it is more important than the tech and this is why Mr. Hancock vids are so good. I like especially interested in games that do more than get for point to b as a premise.When i used to have a Mastercard purchased Knuckles' Chaotix and Pitfall 32x. You I know that some people picked out that this game was shit for 32x as it runs slow, but then as they say the game was the version to follow when the decision came to a PC edition meaning there hidden objects and it makes it a basic need to move around here and there. I used to have the MEGA DRIVE VERSION, and only came to 32x via digital conversion as a reproduction but that is beside the point here, I liked that one as with toy story. Do not listen too much to people who rant about moving pictures in games or sprits blablabla, the do not meana sprit like tooth fairry, if Pitfall is slow for 32x then so is the japanese ed-of Dracula X. especially for somone who had only a pal saturn with a game shark, that ultimately failed to interact with the machine and killled for how I had to wrestle big time to try and take out and re set in into the catrigde slot. Pocha appears to a unique game on the line but also seems to remind of something I have not played in years, Buba and STIX as with masrasupilami, in game play you spear head the rescue mission, of an elephant, you need to see to it that he comes along as you cannot just dash away this moves us into some puzzle like game intergrated into being a PLATFORMER. you can make up a path way for the elephant to follow being laying the route before him coverd in sweets. Now: Do not miss the fact you need to keep a hold of where the elephant ends up because it is like the flickies you need to track down in Sonic 3D, there will be no progression in terms of gameplay if you leave them behind. I am no that into how technical things are with game but I like the splendour and it is always nice to discuss the hobby in terms of how it brings us joy plane and simple, will do a lot of shop and swap again with all the SATURN RELATED stuff but when all of them has become credit to pick among any formats there I have seen that many of Pinball games there was cheap for the PC, and when I get more hard drives in the blend I can focus on installing games. unfortunatel I do not think I have ever heard anything about tanglewood. it is hard to keep track pf Mega Drive as a many games where published around the same time, all in all speaking about entire gaming set ups means hundreds of games. I have a special interest for MEGA 32x because i always wanted one since I was twelve and saw star wars arcade in a toy shops glass cabin so I knew it was literalily out of reach, I decided to get it much later and am happy that I can play those games with easy controls right on liked that with coordination issues and my case of diffuclity with finemotorics cerebral palsy ADHD etc I still found a way to get right on arcade action kind of titles but using the same kind of a control with that direct but laid back sensibility on the part of seeing this type of games becomes some thing I can acess via SEGA as they decided to keep on with a controller like to it, also for MEGA CD and SATURN, and I am just saying try to play say: Balance of Power for PC as I did during the time not having MEGA 32x a good controller will suffice only until you realise which set up of commands that MUST be handled via keys so it becomes a different kind of game by then as you will fail of you just go full throttle to see what happens, with keys you can match up speed balance the sheilds and so on Star Wars Arcade and how Game Play and control set ups unfurl, is more straight forward on point a more right on if you are in a situation liken to mine., you will think perhaps that I have gone OFF TOPIC, so will not tell something that bores you all I like to endorse is when gaming more on point and where there is a very easy control scheme. "Pocahontas" offered some thing nice, something unique, but I found it too hard... your view point of this tanglewood thing is tellingly put as it seems it is a game you still have a fondness for. I would like to see all the ideas you have of it and Pochahontas to come into the lime light so that you can narrate a full story of what it is with them that deviate from one another and then let all this data put together make for a recommendation if I should seek out get it or return re-vitalised to this Pochahontas game. the most recent game I played was Flashback on the CD-i, if I engage SEGA these days I go on to play MEGA 32X moreso than any other. I am not goofing about but I see that not every other person swaps away so dynamic game like Pochontas that has a vast coverage in gameplay, multifacetted expression on more than one nature, I know that in naming other titles I do not mean to lead on you as a reader into confusion. what has appeard way up here is a mind map or sorts to prepare my selft for disscusion while at the same time making it easier to see where I am coming from. As I have never heard about Tanglewood, it wouild be to attain delighful desire to understand more about this titlle, I hope you can read the fulll message put down here by me as spring board for you own creativty to tag along with a further discussion on Tanglewood and/or other mentioned or seldom mentioneed games.

CRUE BALL was the one I was waiting for on this list! Back in the day when I saw it I wasn't sure it would be interesting video pinball really didn't do it for me... fast forward to a couple years ago I saw it again in a giant collection of Genesis ROMs and fired it up... man how cool was it?! What a sick game I hope to own a copy of it someday.

Jordan vs Bird calling it an "F" is like calling basketball for the Atari an "F".... they are both early basketball games that are very nostalgic for me.... at worst I would give them a "C" they are playable and I do go back to them every so often. They would also fall in the category of fun with friend... not as much by yourself.

Hockey 93 is my favorite. The controls were somewhat arcade like, where you could tweak the direction of the puck after a shot. In Hockey 94, it felt like EA had taken that control away, and while one-timers were added, they were a very rare shot for me to pull off as they felt difficult to do. I also started catching on to EA releasing pretty much the same sports title as they did the year before, as an incremental update...almost the same game plan they have today, not including paid DLC. The EA sports titles for $65 each as soon as they were released.

When my big brother got a racing game (Road Rash 2), he enjoyed a lot. I tried out too and I really liked too. I can still think of the announcer! "Foul!" "Traveling" "back court foul!" enjoyed the video. Oh and road rash was so fantastic. I didn't like two as much as one for whatever reason but that may just be nostalgia. Three they kind of lost the magic a bit I remember feeling back then. @John Hancock You know how it was in the old days. You played the games you had and you didn't always get to choose what games you got! So, when I was a kid, I owned Jordan vs Bird (because my parents only bought me games that were on clearance, I was lucky I had games at all) and I used to be able to get a perfect score on the 3 point competition! After a while the 3 point competition was all I played. I thought the graphics for the 3 point competition were great too. That considered, I'd give Jordan vs Bird a "D".

Mr Hancock,does your over all dynamic expression about Madden games mean that you do not like, NFL Quarterback? I used to own Madden 96 and one of the older as well as madden 98 for saturn that I had to return as it had a scratch on the disc surface. I have been interested of getting a nfl quarterback for the 32x because it has so much splendour, or instant replay for Phillip cd-i. there is no region lock on the 32x NFL game so i think there is sort of a magnetic draw for me to that game because of the splendour, but it could perhaps also be that the grass is always greener on the other side. I do not know if you have played 32x and CD-i, much so I do not know if you find this post distracning and difficult to read as in terms of what I am aiming at these games come under the umbrella that can be played on european equipment, the mis match or delay in moving pictures is not a problem on rbi baseball for GENESIS 32x so there might be more titles to explor that was released for MEGA DRIVE also, many titles you focused on hear as far as I am aware exist in PAL territories thank you for a great presentation.

NHLPA 93 was named that because of the player strike that year. So it's not an official NHL game, but it's one of the only, if not only, professional players association game.

I can't stand golf irl (unless is mini golf) but I absolutelly love me some light golf sims like pga tour golf 2 & 3. The fact that this genre doesn't require constant focus makes it great for relaxing after a tough day at work or to help taming your attention span issues while you listen to a podcast or a yt essay. The usual bird chirping coupled w the hit and swoosh soundFX are also very relaxing. I heard there's a great one for the 32x and once I find a emu I'll give it a go. P.s.: also my mind blew back in the day when a stranger on a bus chit chat confirmed my suspicions that road rash rivals held grudges if you damaged their bikes or their noggins

Recently, Sega Lord X named EA the best 3rd party publisher for the Genesis. He stated something that I have never noticed before, while other prolific companies such as Konami and Acclaim were oriented towards arcade-style action and sports games, Electronic Arts was much more diverse in its catalogue. In '92 alone, we had pinball, racing, combat flight sim, real-time strategy, action platform, several types of sports games, and even educational software for Christ's sake.

I spotted by Galahad chance at a local store selling preowned games, and had never heard of it. By the character in the screenshots, though, I recognized this was Leander, whose review I had read in a computer magazine earlier. In the end, I was disappointed by how short the game was. Good enough, but I don't know if it was worth the 91% or so the Amiga version had received.

NHL94 = Gold, I remember telling my cousin they need to add some kind of quick shot move... Well their it came the one timer was added in 94 and it's now the best ever. I love 93, and 92 was the first and was amazing for a hockey game when it came out, played it for hundreds of hours. I'm from Canada, can't blame me. The Basketball game were amazing for their time, the graphics were mind blowing, but they aged badly.

In 93 I think if you lost a fight sometimes you were bloody, I feel like they removed that in 94. Those PGA games still play well today

Dear John ) I absolutely agree that many games are a bit slow and seem wacky ! Please install overclock on you Mega Drive (Genesis) ! It will bring a new feel to many games of m.d. library ! I use japanese 1988 m.d. console and it works fabulous ))) Overclock will make your games 'breath' ...and no more clunky controls ! ✌🥳

Do 1991 too. I'm curious where you would put Rings of Power. I loved that game. I'm still hoping for a remake or sequel. Edit: Oh! I see you already did! I'll take a look right away!!

I like how EA added all time teams to Madden '93. Which makes me wish they did the same thing with their other sports games as well. I, for example, would have loved to play as the 73-74 Philadelphia Flyers or the 76-77 Montreal Canadiens in NHLPA '93. I think that would have been pretty awesome. Alas they didn't. Oh well......

Not a lot of EA stuff to seek out imo but I did get a cib Crue Ball, I really like everything about that one, cool case, sweet music, and great video pinball design. Galahad was a nice title from the Amiga scene. For me the frame rate is the tough part with LHX rather than the plainness of flat shaded polygons, shame the SVP didn't get used in more than one game as I think that tech could have smoothed out LHX. Yeah the Lotus titles are all pretty solid racers. Not sure why Genesis developers didn't support the mouse more when we got so many PC ports. O_o??? Can't go wrong with Road Rash, a strong franchise for EA. :D Never tried Rolo but those are some pretty graphics for the platform. Totally, just wish SOTB1&2 were easier.

0:55 A good rule of thumb is to avoid any mini-game collection unless it's Mario Party, otherwise you're going to get a game that's merely average at best, and that's only if you're lucky. There may be a select few exceptions to that, but those exceptions still aren't as good as Mario Party. Save your money.
