In my headcanon, this is Ra's ancient form before Pegasus redisgned it to look more like a dragon. I like it more than the OG-art, because the more phoenix-like apparence and the toothless beak fits more to the like of an pharaoh than that dragon-like form, who fit more to an ursupator like Marik.
That third Slifer graphic is amazing! I remember olaying Yu Gi Oh as an elemntary school child, im 30 YO now. Got bored last night and decided to get back into it, its something my son enjoys and so we have that in common. Yes its evolved in how you play it now (some say its more difficult) i dont believe its more difficult i think ppl have just come this far and it was needed. It used to be EASY, the added additions now i really enjoy. Back into it!
I honestly don't understand how anyone can prefer the new ra art to the jump promo, it's the same design but the posing and flames are done much better and the black background makes it look like a really badass poster for a metal band
Nothing will ever top how cool the originals of these cards are to me, they came out when I was like 11, I legit lucked into pack-drawing obelisk on a school field trip, then pack drew Ra on summer break. I had to buy slifer for $150 tho
The first edition god cards had the same theme and background. You can really feel that they are god cards. Rare, legendary, mysterious. They all had that. The others were cool and all but they look like normal cards.
I think the design for Obelisk is fine but the way he's presented works against him. The original has this simple but grand pose. The same design is in the third one but the imminent punch wears that look better I think. Def agree on Ra for the same reason I think Obelisk 3 works; it looks badass because it's about to end someone's career.
Honestly, as much as ppl D ride the original art, I won't be afraid like everyone else who just can't admit that the newer art looks, in fact, much better than the originals. I mean, let's be honest, we can't even imagine a decent summoning animation in MD with the OG art. And I wish they'd let it go. Or at least let us choose optional art styles like they did in Millennium Duels.
Obelisk, Slifer & Ra.. man how bad I wanted just one of those cards as a kid lol. Obelisk has always been my favorite . Maybe I’ll get back into collecting or even playing .
The second Slifer art work was ruined for me when I was told that the lightening it’s shooting out is behind its mouth and not actually coming out from its mouth
I think silfer is the best because of its incredible beatdown strategy abilities and allow you use cards in your hand as power plus that have no use in your plan, it is the less detrimental of all 3 gods
Okay I just recognized something did anyone else notice that the three Egyptian god cards have THREE MAIN ARTWORKS?!?!?!? Takahashi sama is a god tier pun maker takes three tributes to someone out the three Egyptian god cards plus there's three artworks for each LOL
2nd ra is way better than 3rd imo. the colors in that 3rd mode are just so bad imo. looking like a mcdonalds promo fr, while the black and gold in the 2nd look SO GOOD to me, especially with that aura
The god cards are just peak yugioh. We hear about them and as each one shows up they meet and exceed expectations. The only joke is they hype Ra who is awesome but Obilisk is just standing on the corner being a menace to all life.
"Man, these alter arts are the worst compared to other, like the illustrator didn't know that these monsters are all Gods" Kazuki Takahashi who draw them himself and even signed the card: bruh...
Yes we know who made the art. It doesn't change our opinions on it. We think his art style is very hit or miss. A lot of it is awesome and a lot of it isn't the best
