I feel like an underrated “gag” is the unbroken bridge that: 1.Never gets fixed (despite the amount of Lego workers we see during the WHOLE SHOW) 2. The amount of times it’s used during chase scenes or destroying something, truly a consistency within Gumballs crazy world.

The fact that Gumball was able to even reference the creepypasta The Grieving where if memory serves correctly anias gets decapitated and other creepy stuff, is just insane to me

A smaller detail I like about episodes like The Cycle and The Choices is that it shows Tobias learnt his behaviours from Harold. It was easy to assume that was the case already - since that’s just what kids are like - but I appreciate that they made it clear by showing that Harold himself was a misogynist and bully as a teen, and still is as an adult. It’s a good way to develop Tobias without focusing on him.

1:18:19 Of all the surprisingly adult topics this show had, I think the thing that shocks me the most that they put in the show is the knowledge that Gumball was born out of wedlock. And I love the way they show it, too, it's actually funnier that they expressed this without dialogue so the parents can have that wide eye moment.

Richard Waterson is a true gem: the rare animation dad who is kind of stupid but still A. Extremely likeable B. Extremely funny And C. Still la good dad

I always loved how they didn't make Richard the cliché dead beet, lazy father who doesn't care about anything. He genuinely loves his family and always looks out for them, even if it means putting his laziness aside

Y’know it’s funny that in the last episode Gumball and Darwin were able to squeeze through the vents to escape when in season 1 they were stopped by a vent when their dad chased them, really comes to show how far the show has gone with embracing itself

Something worth noting, Gumball and Carrie was a rather popular ship in the fandom in the show's earlier seasons, to the point of being more popular than Gumball and Penny. I'm pretty sure this is the reason Darwin and Carrie became a thing in the later seasons, The Shippening referencing this further proves it.

This show got more and more bizarre as it went on and I honestly love that about it.

I gotta say, I didn’t expect to be as cool as I am with Sarah becoming a bigger supporting character. She’s one of the few people in Elmore who can match and even outperform the chaos of the Watersons.

thanks to these videos i’ve realised that this show probably influenced my humour a lot more than i originally thought

Gumball came out at the perfect time imo. Chowder had just ended and CN needed something that pushed the boundaries in terms of creativity. Thus one of the greatest cartoons ever showed up, and I could not be more grateful to grow up with this show.

Fun fact: The episode, "The One," is reference to an 80s movie and television series called highlander. The most popular scene being a sword fight in a parking garage, swords in trenchcoats and all that. The friendening as Tobias puts it is another reference to highlander, where chopping off the heads of other immortal beings, you would gain their powers and memories, this is called the quickening. The highlanders, or the immortal beings, are all out to kill each other, hence why "there can only be one."

I would describe these two videos as comfort videos. I've seen them both so many times and each time I put them on to actually watch or just listen in the background, I somehow enjoy it more. I hope you make more content, whether it be like this or just be something you enjoy or want to share with people.

I think Darwin went through a lil bit of flanderization in Season 6, he wasn’t just Gumball’s sidekick. He was his brother and he acted like such. He was jokey, cute, dramatic and moody. In season 6 they saw that he was cute, changed his voice actor and “de-aged” him to his core attributes. Bring Back Older Darwin

I love how the grieving is a reference to an actual gumball creepypasta called "the grieving." I remember watching it as a kid and being very excited they referenced it lmao

The Wattersons becoming human is still to this day one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen from this show. Like seriously, who thought of that.

This show is easily my absolute favorite cartoon of all time If there is one word to describe it, it would be "effort" Even the worst episodes of the show aren't lazy. They always try, and they always give it their all. The format of the show really makes it so that they kinda...can't not give it their all. And I love it Consistently funny, creative, endearing, and charming.

One of the things I really liked about this show is how absolutely brilliantly it’s animated and how many mediums of animations (claymation cgi ect) is used so fluently

Hot take, The Uncle is one of my favorite episodes of the entire show. Not just because of the Mario jokes either. In contrast to The Girlfriend, Gumball knowingly choosing to become best friends with Ocho of all people for a selfish reason justifies him getting tortured, along with the episode itself just being extremely funny.

Ocho is a pretty good recreation of a rich kid with a “famous” family and no social skills. I've lived with Ocho before, Gumball's song to Ocho is genuinely spiritually healing to me.

I forgot how many bangers AWOG has. Darwins Emo song, and the one with alan about global warming hit different. Not only do a lot of them sound like legitimate songs, but like the latter, they have such good messaging in them.

So interesting being someone who watched this show purely as an adult. It was the cartoon that got me thru my late teens/early 20s with its humor. The depression episode always makes me cry, I'm glad kids got to grow up with that message that things DO suck, but they CAN get better if given the time and chance. The Sussy episode is also my favorite, I would die for Sussy.

Both of these videos were SO well edited so consistently, and I really liked the format. This has made me wanna go through and rank all the adventure time episodes on my next rewatch (even if it's just for myself). It's always so interesting to hear other people's thoughts in long-form content like this for me - also the way Gumball switched VA's throughout the show was so fitting for the show's style, I don't think any other cartoon could pull it off.

The funniest thing with The Best is that I don't think the writers were specifically riffing on Twitter, they went even deeper and were riffing on Tumblr. Like, Twitter is definitely way bigger now, but Tumblr is the origin of the kind of culture the episode was referencing. The current understanding of trigger warnings and how they should be used was based on Tumblr's tagging and blacklist functions, and the culture surrounding them was adopted by other websites even though they don't use the blacklist function so such a system couldn't work on a large scale
