dream team is one of the most underrated mario games to be made. like exploring luigi’s dreams are super cool especially when you find out that luigi wants to be just like his brother and help him. really love dream team!
Couldn’t agree more, it’s the most unique Mario game ever and I honestly don’t understand how it’s not considered the best and superstar saga is. No offence to superstar saga or people who like it but imo i don’t think it was as good as dream team in any way
No clue why people dislike dream team that much. I would argue that it’s probably the mario and luigi game with the most new content. Story wise is not on a bowser inside story level but besides the first two bros moves in the overworld every other move is also unique and new. So was the artstyle at it’s time as well as all the dream world stuff, the game didn’t feel too easy, i actually think it’s one of the best balanced mario & luigi game having died to some bosses myself, the tutorial is definitely the biggest flaw but besides that me being a partners in time simp i would definitely say that dream team is a proper rpg that’s less repetitive gameplay wise then partners in time.
Yea tbh i think dream team could be most easily improved game in the series just by getting rid of some lenghty tutorials or dialogue scenes. I really loved everything else about it, i think the dream world is better than bowsers inside, the music is amazing, battles and bosses are fun etc. Weirdly enough dream team would be the most fitting to a remake; i don’t think partners in time’s issues can be solved as easily at all (though it would greatly benefit from a visual upgrade imo)
I actually enjoyed it my second time playing through it more than my first time. I love it but I wish it had more side quests and extra content. There were no real mini games or extra bosses.
Yep. It's still on the harder side even after replaying and the music is just so good. Whether you're roaming around the outside locations, exploring the world buildings, or just relaxing at the castle, the music is perfect and just fills you with good vibes and feelings. The fight themes are also very good. Also the game is funny as hell, heartwarming, and filled with tense moments all at the same time.
Fun fact:Mario and Luigi from partners in time are not the same as the Mario and Luigi from bowsers inside story they were the baby versions of themselves as revealed in Bowser’s inside story Mario and Luigi go to bowser’s castle and see frozen shroobs and Mario tells starlow about how him and Luigi fought those alien creatures as babies
I suppose that would mean there is 2 separate timelines. One where Mario & Luigi fought the Shroobs as adults, and one where they fought them as babies. The only exception would be if the Mario Bros actually fight the shroobs twice in their life, once as babies, and once as adults. The weird part is though, is the Bros traveled back in time to fight the shroobs, would that imply that it already happened? I find it hard to believe that they did fight them twice due to plot armour. I think you're correct then, that there are 2 timelines in which M&L fought the shroobs as babies, and in their same lifetime don't fight them again as adults (at least until BiS) and the other being M&L fight the shroobs exclusively as adults in PiT.
5) Paper Jam 4) Partners in time 3) Bowser's inside story 2) Superstar saga 1) Dream team Sorry, i just played DT last week and it's ab absolutely awesome game, still don't know why is it so hated
At least it'd different than literally everyone else's rankings, like we get it, paper jam is ass, we get it dream team is mid, we get it, partners in time has capitalism instead of syrup, WE GET IT. But superstar saga clears partners in time
it's a good game, then you replay it and you notice more and more flaws with the pacing, the handholding, bowser being less interesting. Giant zookeeper boss fight the game had some good ideas but for things like the dream world it barely did anything with it.
@@nascour5991I completely disagree, just like in paper Mario 64, Bowser is the most awesome and threatening in dream team, the gyro controls is okay but not that bad, and I HATE how everyone blows the tutorials and pacing out of proportion when it isn't that bad
eh bowser's more funny in paper mario tbh but in dream team he has his moments, also as someone replaying the game the tutorials are really bad.@@andrewvanover9747
The partners in time was the first mario and luigi game i played, and i say, that game, will always, have a place on my heart😊 beeing to, one of my first mario games, Along with sm64ds and nsmb for the ds, and the og mario on a nes clone, but probably, the really firsts, was the ds titles
My list is similar two and 3 are switched for me otherwise it’s the same so it’s a pretty agreeable list and I also prefer superstar saga remake too as it’s the one I played more
@@originalderkReally, objectively? DT has a mid villain with overly long tutorials and horrible pacing as well as less creativity in its dream world than bowser’s belly. Really bis and partners in time are better than dream team in every way.
For me (note that for Superstar Saga and Bowser's inside Story I've played both the originals and the remakes, and generally prefer the remakes for the most part): 5 Paper Jam (this is as bland and uninspired as you can get, half of the bros attacks are copy-pasted from Dream Team, and Paper Mario doesn't add a lot to the game imo) 4 Partners in Time (miles better than Paper Jam, too short for my taste, I do like the idea of consumable bros attacks, maybe they could've implemented it a bit better though) 3 Bowser's inside Story (a bit of an unpopular opinion, I find the whole changing to Bowser then Mario and Luigi then Bowser then Mario and Luigi areas annoying, such as the blooper fountain thing, and bros attacks feel the slowest in the entire series, I just don't like this game's combat as much as the others) 2 Superstar Saga (most replayable Mario and Luigi, best combat in the entire series as it is so quick and fluid, the main thing I don't like is Joke's End, the remake fixes most collision problems the GBA had) 1 Dream Team (I feel like this game either you love it or you hate it, giant battles are way better than Bowser's imho, I personally don't find the tutorials annoying as I feel they are necessary and are for the most part before the first visit to Mount Pajamaja, the soundtrack is at its best in the entire franchise, and I find the dream world as a more polished version of Bowser's inside segments, but without the annoyances I found in its predecessor and with more ways to interact with it, I do think the game could've been a bit shorter though) I consider all games to be great games except for Paper Jam, which is OK at its best and mediocre most of the time.
@@asiermr Well I just prefer the graphics. Honestly the 3ds version is great too. However, bis remake was really unnecessary and was worst than the original.
I've played bis my whole life, and of course, it is my favorite. But I'm playing through og superstar saga for the first time this week and I'm pleasantly surprised with how much i enjoy it. It's a close second for me. Still doesn't take the crown of best mario and luigi game, but it's up there
@queasycarboy508 a big part of it is nostalgia, as it's really the only one I played growing up. But the reasons I love it are the charming music, fluid and funny animations; where they make the characters look goofy yet cool at the same time. The main battle theme is boppy and fun and makes me want to enter battles. The bowser battle theme makes you feel like you're a force to be reckoned with, and bowser's animations and sprite make you feel so powerful and cool(who doesn't want to punch bad guys in the face with a meaty turtle dragon fist?). I also love bowser's personality in this game. It's nice for a change to have a main character you play as use speech, instead of just gibberish blurbs that other characters decipher for you. I think overall my favorite parts are these: music is amazing and unforgettable, playing as Bowser makes you feel cool and powerful, timing on the bros moves and special moves feels challenging but fair, and not too hard to master. And the whole mood and tone of the game just feels good to me. It has its serious moments(the music in Bowser Castle and the Tower of Yikk are personal favorites, they make me feel less like I'm playing a goofy mario game and more like an actual dungeon crawler rpg), but also the goofy and funny dialog remind me of the series it's in, and I feel they got a good balance of these tonal differences. Also, for the most part, I feel the ds gimmicks add to the gameplay rather than detract from it(with a few exceptions, those being the train boss and the nose minigame; and maybe a couple other small things).
It’s so sad how PIT is so disliked it’s story is so unique a little dark but it’s different which is nice and don’t get me started on the music. I wish I could play it for the first time again I’m hoping for a remake
You have the Same opinion as me, one Thing I have to add for dream team and Paper Jam is that I didnt like the Design of the enemy Attacks. They were often just learn a Frame perfect Timing instead of actually understanding how the attack works, I didnt enjoy that.
Nice video. I have to admit that I only completed Partners in Time until today and I absolutely loved it. I still have to complete Dream Team, Paper Jam and Superstar Saga. I actually didn't like Bowser Inside that much, I tried it on DS back then and lost interest pretty quick.
you gotta give bowser's inside story more of a chance man, i can see the boredom it might start slow but it picks up pretty quick. Also playing as bowser is amazing, fawful is great you gotta give it another chance.
AlphaDream is on record saying they remade Bowser's Inside Story over Partners in Time because Bowser's Inside Story sold better than Partners in Time on the DS, so they figured the same would be true for 3DS remakes. Little did they know that Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey would be the worst selling 3DS game. Anyway, here's my ranking- 1. Partners in Time 2. Paper Jam 3. Bowser's Inside Story 4. Dream Team 5. Superstar Saga
5. Paper Jam 4. Dream Team 3. Bowser’s Inside Story 2. Partners In Time 1. Superstar Saga (Not Including remakes because they aren’t special and don’t have anything going for them.)
Everyone has their favorite mostly based on nostalgia and childhood memories Edit* My top 5 5. Dream team bros 4. Paper Jam 3. Bowser inside Story 2. Partners in time 1. Superstar Saga
Inside story is one of the best games I’ve ever played when I was a kid, I hooked me instantly and I loved it so much, if it’s anywhere but 1 on anyones tier list they’ve got brain damage
Partners in time is my favorite because of how memorable it was. The premise of the story is devastating and it actually felt like a lot was at stake. Super immersive story and setting made me want to progress in the gameplay and had a satisfying build up leading to the ending/final boss. The shroobs were quite different for the Mario series and really creepy especially princess shroob. Game also has amazing soundtrack and visuals. I do agree that I wish the babies were a bit stronger/prominent in the gameplay or had more abilities in the battles besides the hammer though.
I was looking for this video, I wanted to know what was the best to play casually in some spare time, I played the first one on the GBA and I liked it a lot, that's why I wanna try another one.
I'm here to say a big fact, Bowser inside story is a little overrated because of Bowser. Yes, it's the best game of the saga but it ain't that far from superstar saga, partners in time and dream team.
My list is: 1) Dream Team (Nostalgia ftw) 2) Bowser's Inside Story 3) SuperStar Saga 4) Partners in Time (Great story, just very middle child in terms of Gameplay) 5) Paper Jam (Some of the best gameplay mechanics, just severly undercooked in the story category, which is the main focus for most M&L games)
Ranking the worst to best M&L game (my opinion) 7. Paper Jam 6. Partners in Time 5. Dream Team 4. Superstar Saga DX 3. Bowser's Inside Story DX 2. Superstar Saga 1. Bowser's Inside Story
my ranking: 5) Paper jam (Surprise right? lol) 4) Partners in time (Not really valid, never got to play) 3) SuperStar Saga (Good game but ehh nothing crazy happened) 2) Dream team (remember the day I bought it and how happy and excited I was) 1) Inside Story (Grew up with the game, Bought it when I was like 6 and have so many memories)
5. Paper Jam: Not a Fawful + Dimentio combo to save the game (yes please), but at least something interesting and not bland 4. Partners in Time: The game's good and all, but I hate how some bros attacks are insanely broken, it ruins combat if you're too good 3. Dream Team: Best OST of the entire series, hands up. Bosses are great and bros attacks super duper fun. Antasma is a lackluster and tutorials are a drawback 2. Superstar Saga: A catchy story full of plot twists, Popple moments and the greatness of Fawful. Very satisfactory combat rythim. Remake fixes the Broken bros attacks 1. Bowser's Inside Story: An epic and emotional end to Fawful's arc. Story is thrilling and intense as it gets to and end since the beggining. Combat is awesome with Bowser and bosses feel just awesome.
Strangely.... I feel kind of happy that I didn't miss out on much with the 3DS games. Never owned a 3DS. I do own the first 3 games and a DS. So... Yay. Experienced the best ones! I know that AlphaDream went bankrupt, but if Nintendo somehow manages to find a way to bring back the M&L series... I hope they bring back the bros.-like super movies from Superstar Saga.
I would be totally okay if paper jam got a sequal, a GOOD sequal, since it is so uninteresting The gameplay is good even if the paper battles are kinda whatever, still much better than sticker star
I think the worst is dream team, I’ve all but bowsers inside story, and I feel like dream team is just so long and drawn out and the writing is pretty boring
Dream team is mediocre and frustrating, the difficulty is off the charts especially in the giant battles. I haven't finished it and I won't never it appears, I still like it in a way but it just feels off in comparison of the two masterpieces of Partners in time and Superstar saga
Dream team is underrated and overhated, y’all need to stop looking at the negatives and look at the positives infact PiT is the worst M&L because is boring too easy
@@edwardsaldana2534 oh yeah totally, jokes on me cuz instead of playing a game I didn’t like I did something else💀💀💀 bro you’re either some fat loser who reddits all day or someone who needs to punched in the face
my list: 5. Paper Jam (7.5/10) 4. Partners in Time (8.5/10) 3. Superstar Saga (9/10) 2. Dream Team (10/10) 1. Bowser’s Inside Story (favorite game ever)
@@TotallyTubularJonathan nice one, honestly you'll be surprised. the psx games are good, I've not seen much of the other stuff but I know there's loads you could delve into. Appreciate it!
I haven't finished dream team cause of the impossibile bowser giant battle so I must give to it a 0 out of 10 but yeah if I'd complete it I'd give it a 5 My ranking is this 1 Partners in time 10 out of 10 2 Superstar Saga 9 out of 10 3 Bowser inside story 7 out of 10 4 Paper Jam Bros 6 out of 10 5 Dream team bros 5 out of 10
To me Paper Jam was my favorite game so far. Idk why people hate it cause I like how it’s a crossover with Mario and Paper Mario. And the RPG is sick too, the graphics somehow look way more better than the other games and the final boss was a total badass. And Dream Team was my favorite as well. The Bosses were was more crazy and awesome than Paper Jam (somehow giant bowser was more of a final boss than Dreamy Bowser), plus the fights with the giants were so cool, especially when you play as Luigi. Idk why people hate these two games, cause these were so badass
The real issue is that the bros attacks are really lame and random compared to other games, like, a rocket?, the trio attacks seem kinda forced, like turning the enemy into paper every time instead of using something more creative like idk, the shuriken one outside of the “paper world” if you can call it that, just compare the attacks from dream team to paper jam, you can see the creativity decrease, the lack of creativity with enemies, like all the bosses are kamek, bowser jr and the koopalings, and by far the worst part is the over use of paper toads, which I know is straight out of paper Mario but come on, it gets sooooo boring after the third time, although it is a really nice game, I enjoyed the papercraft battles and the dynamic of the trio in battle is pretty fun
Great video. I agree with rankings, I would just personally put Paper Jam at 4 and Dream Team at 5. Paper Jam’s story was mediocre but the gameplay and pacing was waaaay better than Dream Team imo.
10 month late reply. I think M&L and Paper Mario have their own universe. I am no fans of Mario regular Platforming, only played 2 games from the series and got tired easily. But if you like or into turn based games, definitely go and try M&L series.
I Mean this list just seems so wrong my personal ranking should be a bit better. 5. Partners In Time (They could’ve done so much more with this game I like all the Mario and Luigi RPGs but this is defiantly the worst. First off so many of the bosses are mid which is a part of these games I love as one of the most and on top of that the gameplay is the least enjoyable compared to others. The Story is very good but let’s be honest That’s the same for everything but paper Jam.) 4. Paper Jam(Honestly I enjoyed this game for the most part but there’s so many things that can make it annoying. First off saving so many paper toads like why? For the whole game are you serious?! Also paper craft battles are just awful I hate them so much. But other then that the areas were interesting and the bosses besides paper craft were great but the other 3 left beat this game for sure.) 3. Dream Team (I replayed this game recently and even thought I love it so much superstar saga and bowsers inside story just means to much to me this game has great areas, great story, amazing bosses for the most part. But the gameplay all around at the beginning I’ll admit is kinda boring I’d say around near the end of dozing sands it gets good. To be honest though I find the giant boss underrated like some are annoying but I think they should get more credit then given. Overall I love this game but it can’t beat the remaining 2 it came close though.) 2. Bowsers inside story (This took a lot of thought it really did I think some people expected superstar saga to be here but nope. This game is awesome the bosses the story to return of fawful it’s all beautiful the side game in the remake also had great story way better then superstar sagas. It’s just I feel like the final boss could’ve been harder as well as the giant battles besides peaches castle that was epic. Bosses are a big part of these games for me and some of them here are very annoying. This game is just awesome though and it defiantly deserves top 2.) 1. Superstar saga (This game is my childhood. Best start to a Mario series like ever. Beautiful story we thought Mario games could never create. Lots of cool secrets. Interesting Mini games with lots of nostalgia. The bosses are also awesome for me for the most part some of them are meh a bit underrated and a bit awesome. Overall this game is epic and I can’t put it anywhere but in the best spot.)
bro has the same ranking as every other person on the planet, paper jam and dream team on bottom, partners in time in middle, bowser's inside story on top with superstar saga close behind. I bet you that with maybe minor tweaks like swapping ss with bis 90% of rankings on youtube are the same as this
Paper Jam Bros is the worst one... But I need to say one good thing about it: I LOVE the team of 3 gameplay in battle. Having Paper Mario in the team makes the gameplay a lot of fun. The rest... Paper crafts, the story, the slow pasing, the toad minigames and the most boring boss fights in Mario&Luigi history.... the game is just not good...
In my opinion the list should have been different my rankings are 5.superstar saga For a starter game it's perfect a real building block in progression but I think the other games are better gameplay wise and graphics wise I know this 1 was made first but even the remake I don't think that's what was needed to make it stand out I love the interesting characters and moments but I just like the other games in the series better 4.paper jam 3 bad thing about paper jam 1 the world is a bit bland until halfway through 2 there isn't that any unique npcs 3 words paper toad missions those are the 3 things bad about paper jam the gameplay is amazing other than that paper mario has a bunch of amazing abilities and running around has never been so fun and engaging 3.dream team 2 slightly bad things about dream team the pacing and the fact that you get your first bros attack a staple to the mario and luigi games about a hour through the game other than that it was amazing to have 3 types of battles regular standard battles dream battles and the returning from bowsers inside story giant battles Also this was the game in the series that introduced badge combos both bros would get a set of badges different to each other you can mix and match these badges to do different things 2.bowsers inside story I loved inside story especially the ending the giant battles were also great this game in the franchise is the 1 I think perfected the bosses but I can't give it 1st because unfortunately there are platforming parts where you need to switch back and forth between the bros and bowser being extremely tedious and time compared 1.partners in time This 1 is the perfect game in the franchise the graphics while underwhelming still work better than ever I don't think I'd like a redesign of the graphics the additional 2 buttons for baby mario and baby luigi work really well to make you want to keep mario and luigi alive you can split the team into 2 party's the bros and their baby counterparts there are so many fun background gags during cutscenes and I loved watching the bros interact with their younger self's there is 1 scene that fits perfectly the bros all find cookies on the ground mario and baby mario exit the area as they want to continue luigi snags a cookie and is about to have a bite but decides to give it to baby luigi it's a cute little interaction which there are tons of the gameplay is the best being a good mix of challenging but fair there are improvements that could have been made but overall this is the best 1 of the bunch not a single bad thing to say about it interesting characters good plot perfect battle sequences amazing progression and pacing there isn't a single other game in the series that can top it
I played superstar saga on gba as a kid and now at 26 rebuying all the mario and luigi games, i like to say thank you dark souls😂😂 i threw all my stats on strength and started one shotting bosses 😂👍🏾 good video man
I've had bis for years, but other than that, I've only played partners in time before. I bought all the games over the last few weeks; i like paper jam so far(haven't gotten very far), superstar saga is much better than i thought it would be, and i don't really like dream team. The gimmicky special attacks just aren't very fun to pull off for me. The luiginary attacks are kind of fun, but other than that, and maybe one or 2 others, i don't like the special attacks. Which kind of ruins the game for me, considering how important they are to the battle system
Bowser's inside story has always been the m+l goat it's a shame the remake was such a letdown. Also lame that Partners was never remade cus it wasn't popular. Paper jam is meh but i don't think that's alphadreams fault I think it's very likely nintendo forced them to hold back on the paper mario references I mean look at how nintendo has treated paper mario. We've finally got ttyd hd but b4 that they've really treated pm like complete garbage.
I would replace dream team with sticker star, and put dream team to number 5, because while sticker star has long gameplay, it is usually fun and it's puzzles are well made, not to mention the big sticker that can be found around the map and can do very cool things such as the fan which blows all stickers away doing huge damage or outright instakilling, and not to mention the map and worlds with so much detail put into them
