As a Dream Team fan I just assumed as the amount of tutorials in the game it has and the dream world segments was a bit overused Imo dream team has the best ost in any mario and Luigi game HECK I have OVER 890hrs on the game on my 3DS (yes I love the game that much lol) Before I get side tracked but there are things in the game that slows the game down… otherwise I still have the urge to replay the game anytime even with co-op
A lot of people hate the pacing because there are too many tutorials and think the game is too long. I personally don’t find the tutorials to be as bad as people make them out to be and I actually kind of like the long length despite the game feeling a bit padded at times
Pros: The length of the game, hard mode, and it reminds me of Psychonauts Cons: Fire bros is nerfed, unskippable tutorials, and the updated grsphics makes it look like a typical 3D Mario game rather than having its own identity
One thing that's great about Superstar Saga and Dream Team is that the Mario and Luigi have their own set of Bros. Attacks, which helps to further distinguish the two. In Superstar Saga for instance Mario is the faster and stronger Bro, but his Bros. Attacks focus on dealing high damage to a single enemy, whereas Luigi is more defensively, but his Bros. attacks can deal damage against multiple or all enemies. So one strategy I came up with is investing in Mario's speed and Luigi's attack and giving Luigi pants, that allow him to move BEFORE Mario to one-shot enemies all at once. Plays like this aren't possible in Partners In Time or Bowser's Inside Story unfortunately as they both share the same set of Bros. Attacks, so it really doesn't matter, which of the two initiates the attack
It's because the 2D pixel cartoon graphics gave it It's own identity. Now with the updated graphics, Dream Team looks like a typical 3D Mario game :/ But I do like the gameplay, it feels like a cross between Bowser's Inside Story and Psychonauts. My only complaint would have to be the fact that fire bros is nerfed. Like you can't spam fireballs like before.
Dream teams biggest issue is that it has 2 hours of tutorials, followed by cookie cutter janky 3ds gameplay. Its the only game in the series I'll never replay.
Only thing I disagree with is what you said about dream team's soundtrack. That game's soundtrack could easily be argued as the best in the series. Never Let up, Wakeport, Driftwood Shore, Both the battle themes (Real and Dream World), and especially Antasma and Adventure's End are all absolutely incredible songs. And theres still more like Pi'illo Blimport, Your dream Adventure, Dozing Sands are all incredible.
oh yeah defiantly for me personally dream team and partners in time tie as the best OVERALL ost not based on singular pieces but rather the ost as a whole
Inside Story is literally my favourite video game in the whole world. I 100% complete the game about once a year and it’s the highlight of my year each time. Even started recording and posting my play through because it’s just so DAMN GOOD
i was so happy when i saw inside story. was my childhood game and it was amazing from what i remember. also great video, you remind me of nathaniel bandy! look forward to seeing more of your content
My list (will be controversial) Dream Team. (I hated the long tutorials tho but I LOVE the OST) Superstar Saga (No crazy gimmick just the start of an amazing series) Bowser's Inside Story (Loved to play as Bowser and stuff) Partners in Time (I never played but looked up a lot of playthroughs and let's plays and I still like because of the "Babies" Meme) Paper Jam Bros (I like Paper Mario but this is a flop and just not original at all but the OST is fine I guess.)
Dream team is my favorite hands down. You can have your opinion but I feel like you didn’t give the game nearly enough credit. The music is INCREDIBLE, the gameplay is super fun, the areas are stunning and brimming with creativity. The only complaint I have is the dialogue at times being too long and unnecessary.
I got Dream team for my eleventh birthday as a bonus to the special year of Luigi 3DS. I loved the game so much that I played all night. It is also one of the very few games I have ever replayed. The SSS and BIS remakes were awesome, but DT is one of my all-time favorite games.
This is crazy. We have the exact same opinions on these games. I'm not exaggerating here, I agree with every single thing said here. This has never happened before.
@@PlushieMaster I know, but I am not talking just about the list. Every single little comment he makes I agree with, either about music, graphics, gameplay and in general personal opinion stuff.
ngl i think he easiest is bowser inside story the best example is the final boss, when i beat when i was a kid i was like thats it? it just finished suddenly due to how easy it was, a far cry from the final boss of partners in time and superstar saga, when i finished those two fights i had to put the console down and reflect on my life a bit (i was 9 lol), like it felt like such an achievement because the bosses were scary and menacing and also very hard but overall i dont think a singular game in the series is that hard, if youre like me and fight everysingle enemy or like 70% of them, the game is gonna be a total cake walk, if you dont do that and instead fight like 50% max and only increase Hp like how my dumb old self did then this games can become brutal, partners in time in particular i remember being very hard with this setup, bowser inside story too, i had to grind to continue lol what i want to say is that there is no need to comment on the difficulty of these games because it has so many external factors that can affect, what i would do personally if i was on the design team is increasing the hp of the boss depending on which level your on but not by so much that it becomes meaningless to level up, also he will throw new attacks at you and they will be more complex and deal more damage the more you level up, basic enemies are affected by this but to a lesser degree so that grinders can still enjoy the grind lol
SS is overrated My list is: 1 and 2: either bowsers inside story or dream team, depends on how i feel that day 3 partners in time 4 paper jam 5 superstar saga
It’s one of the most impressive gba games ever Ik you want a 25 year old gba game to be groundbreaking in terms of graphics lol but your too young to realize that the hardware wasn’t there yet lmao, only og Mario and Luigi fans can realize how amazing that game was at the time, how much personality the bros had since it was THEIR adventure (no yellow ball to annoy them) and how much love the spritework got
I know Paper Jam was quite generic with no unique characters, but together with Dream Team, it were the ones i grew up withh Dream Team is my favorite but I also really enjoyed Paper Jam as well with it's papercraft battles, fun music, still EPX unlike Sticker Star, and it's fun dashing around
All of the games would be my #1. If I have to list them, it would be 1) Dream Team, 2) Bowser’s Inside Story, 3) Paper Jam, 4) Partners in Time, 5) Superstar Saga
My personal ranking: Partners in Time < Paper Jam < Superstar Saga < Dream Team < Bowser’s Inside Story. As for the remakes, I like Superstar Saga 3DS better than GBA, and Bowser’s Inside Story DS better than 3DS, as weird as that may be.
Paper Jam needed Paper Luigi and it should've had a multiverse concept, kinda like Spiderman's. Like imagine going through a dimension portal to the first Super Mario Bros and fighting 8 bit enemies.
There’s also one thing I really hate about Dream Team Bros: They force you to use Motion Controls for every little shit!! It sucks, how am I supposed to play if I am in the car?
It works really well for the Bros. Attacks imo and it's only a select few attacks that use motion control. Though the motion control sections of the Giant Luigi battles can be really frustrating I admit
I mean the game dose not make you use motion controls for EVERYTHING, but some of the Luiginary attacks do use them. I can understand your frustration with having to deal with the 3DS gyro going crazy while in a moving vehicle.
But hey! At least it's better than blowing on an unresponsive microphone that is required for needing perfect timing on a certain Giant Boss named Fawful Express.
This video is the definition of being stuck in Nostalgia I’ll give you Paper Jam but you shLtting on Dream Team is crazy. I mean I get why but you keep comparing music game to the others. And you keep calling everything “generic”. Seems you just keep ignoring what’s actually good about the game. Dream world protagonist antagonist replayability(yk stuff thats important to a TIER list)
Dream World sections: Fine, but they take too long. They should've cut like 5 hours of these. Protagonist: You mean... Mario & Luigi? Yeah, they're... in every game in the series. If you mean Dreambert, eh, he's alright, but I don't really care for him. Antagonist: Antasma is mid, he just has a cool design and a good boss fight. On the plot he just appears out of nowhere at the beginning, stays almost completely absent for the rest game, gets betrayed by Bowser near the end and dies. Replayability: It's literally the worst game to replay in the series. Over 5 hours of tutorials until you get into the actual game. If you mean by extra content, BIS and PJ have nearly the same. Here are some other reasons of why Dream Team belongs in 4th place: -Poorly paced. (way too much filler, absurd amount of tutorials, 15 of the game's 40 frickin hours are literally nothing but this) -Lack of innovation. (it feels way too similar to BIS in many ways. Giant battles, a battle ring, nearly the same battle system; double jump, timed hammer, "EXCELLENT!" rating, medals, etc.) -The game abuses of gyro controls. (in regular battles they're unnecesary and in giant battles they're frustrating) -Some areas are generic. (Mushrise Park, Dozing Sands, Driftwood Shore...) -Dry humor. (it's not that funny) -Unlikeable characters. (Starlow returns for some reason and she's as annoying as ever. There's also the Zeekeeper and the Dream Stone's Spirit which are just jerks)
@xffvfv1153 if that was the entire game then I'd hate it too, but you left out every single good thing in the game. You failed to mention that the dream worlds are usually bite sized and some are completely optional, the pillos are unique and interesting characters, they even brought back beanbean kingdom npcs like Popple for example. Also people hate on the 3d art for no reason, like I honestly don't see anything wrong with it, also dreambert is AWESOME. I do agree with starlow being annoying though.
@@thewanderingchelmet I won't deny it has some strong points. But the negatives I mentioned ruined my experience with the game. I get why some people love Dream Team, but for me, it's just better than Paper Jam and that's it.
I mistky agree with the list, but i do disagree on one thing, i thought the music in dream team and paper jam was actually vwry good, bwttwr than SS, PiT and BiS in some cases even, Somnom woods, gloomy woods, Wakeport and mount br and all the neo bowser castle themes and bowser castke theme of paper jam stand out, i think the 3DS games put far more of a focus on atmospheric music than pripr titles, but that may just be me
I definitely agree with all you’re saying, I definitely underscore some aspects to stop the video from being super long (and it’s an old video I made probably back in 2020), I’m sure I’ll eventually make an updated list with more nuance in mind since I don’t fully agree with all my opinions from back then.
In my list Id still put PJ at the bottom and dream team next.... But then Id put BIS because quite frankly I DESPISE how unnecisarily grindy it is. Like if you want to stand a chance against the extra boss rush you have to grind bowsers damn airwaves for HOURS. Something you already did just to get rainbow rank. Id put PIT next, simply because why it is the most creative story out of them all, it is super easy. SSS is always going to be the goat. Soundtrack is perfect. Every character is memorable. Tons of creativity and bros attacks were done PERFECTLY.
Here's my list: 1. Partners in Time 2. Bowser's Inside Story 3. Superstar Saga 4. Paper Jam 5. Dream Team But at the end of the day, all the games are good.
@@SMCwasTakenI definitely wouldn’t say objectively. If you don’t like the 2D sections in bowsers inside story (which covers like half the game) then superstar saga can be objectively better for a lot of those people
The ULTIMATE Mario & Luigi + Side modes ranking Worst to Best: 7. Mario & Luigi Bowser's Minions 6. Mario & Luigi Bowser Jr's Journey 5. Mario & Luigi Dream Team 4. Mario & Luigi Paper Jam 3. Mario & Luigi Partners In Time 2. Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga 1. Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story
My List: 1: Dream Team | Very creative, very fun and gorgeous for a 3DS game 2: Bowsers Inside Story | Probably the most creative Mario game ever, I love that you can play as Bowser, but I’m not really a fan of how the inside of Bowser is in 2D 3: Partners in Time | I guess I’m cheating since I technically haven’t finished this game, but I’m about 20, hours in and I’m loving it 4: Paper Jam | Good game for sure. Combat is very good, Boss fights are really good, Papercraft fights are a neat concept, but the lack of creativity gets kind of exhausting, especially considering that they just re-used Dream Team’s artstyle and even some of Dream Team’s Bros Attacks 5: Superstar Saga | This game is charming and fun for sure, but it definitely suffers from it being the first game in the series. The gameplay honestly gets stale a lot of the time, and getting lost is something that can happen often. Not to mention that this game is pitifully easy until the final boss where I got whooped to Timbuktu
Paper Jam... more like me not a Fan!!! Dream Team... more like Tutorial fever Dream!!! Partners in Time... more like Baby´s do Crime!!! Super Star Saga... more like let´s play it again BAKA!!! Bowsers Inside Story... more like Bowsers inside ME!!!...äh i mean more like it makes us all horny
Dream Team with the fast forward button would probably be my favorite. But as it stands. 5. Partners in Time 4. Paper Jam 3. Bowser’s Inside Story 2. Dream Team 1. Superstar Saga
Aight, my list here we go; 1. Dream Team - Never minded the style change, LOVE the soundtrack (Never Let Up), the enemies and the battle system (Weird how he said that the dream battle portion doesn't have a final boss, Antasma is that system's finale and Bowser is the overworld's finale) 2.Bowser's Inside Story The story, the music, the battle system...BOWSER. I love everything. This one can be my no 1 depending how i feel in the day. Also Fawful. Love the guy! 3.Superstar Saga Can't go wrong with the classic. While i prefer the remake, the original has it's charm! Also, let's not forget what these sprites have gifted us: SMBZ! 4.Partners in Time ...Hooboy. Let's see: The annoying ass babies are back, the battle system is atrocious, the sprites are my least favorite in the series, the ost outside of the final battle is a downgrade, the attacks have to be BOUGHT, you can't continue the game without over leveling up but you dont want to fight enemies because the battle system is ass and the last two power ups are mash to win. The only thing that saved this game for me are the Shroobs, love those alien fungi. This game can still go die in a fire though. 5.Paper Jam For obvious reasons that were stated in the video.
