I think 25 years old is the perfect cutoff for “young” talent. I think if you’re a rebuilding team with a bunch of 19-23 year olds, a 25 year old player is someone that can still fit in your rebuilding timeframe. In a few years when you pretty much know what you have in your younger guys, that 25 year old should be in their prime.
Well said, and obviously it’s just an easy round number. I’d probably cut it off at 25 though, like once you turn 25 you no longer count. That’s only if I’m writing some article or something tho, Kenny obviously wasn’t trying to look up exact ages and stuff lol.
What’s crazy tho is Duarte is literally 25yrs 63d old when I’m commenting on 8/15. He doesn’t even start his second season for another 2 months lmao. That’s so wild. College eligibility is crazy AF and idk (idc rly either) exactly how it works…like I remember Kuzma said he still had a year of eligibility left when he graduated. Then you can redshirt and all that. On Duarte’s Wiki, it has him at NW Florida State from 2017-2019. Oregon 2019-2021. On bball reference for college it just shows his 19-20/20-21 seasons for Oregon. Then of course he got drafted in 2021. So I guess that means he played 17-18, 18-19 for that JuCo or w/e. Crazy. Gotta be one of the oldest dudes taken in the lotto especially in modern day. Bro was already 24yo by over a month on draft night lmao. His Sophomore year at Oregon he won the Jerry West award (best SG in country) jeez. It’s still tough to draft a 24yo in the lotto, I’d prolly only do it if I wasn’t early in a full rebuild, bc if you don’t plan to compete for a while…dude is literally 26+ to start year 3 and is basically 27 when the playoffs start. Then imagine his second deal? He’s finna be 28 the summer he’s an RFA. So if you extend him for like 4yrs off his rookie deal, that’s 28, 29, 30, 31…and he is basically turning 32 if you make a playoff run. That’s his ROOKIE EXTENSION! You give him a 5yr deal and he’s finna be 33! So you better be DAMN sure he can immediately ball out in the league, and be able to be in a playoff rotation by year 2. Idk how you can even be sure or something like that. Obviously when Indy took him they were trying to win, no way they would’ve taken him if it was this draft or something. Makes you wonder if they’ll end up trading him, bc by the time they’re good again he’s gonna be in his damn late 20s looking for an extension that takes him in to his 30s. Plus idk if he can be a SF. Haliburton is awesome, then Mathurin looks good. If he pans out…he’s only 6”4.5 without shoes. So let’s say he’s 6”5. He’s got a 6”9 WS. He needs to be a SG. Good size for SG, but def not a SF. Mathurin is literally a full 5yrs younger too. 20yo born in June, Duarte 25yo born in June. He didn’t do the combine but it says he’s 6”6 w 6”7 WS. They lie about heights like always too. Wouldn’t surprise me if he was really 6”6 with shoes on which is exactly what Mathurin is. Anyway I went on a MAD random rabbit hole lmaoooo. No idea why. I’m not even a Pacers fan. Just Kenny saying something about Duarte’s age at the end plus this post made me go look it up. Duarte seems like he’s gonna at least be a real good rotation player, and he was as advertised he contributed his rookie year. But with IND in a full rebuild now…idk. I’d be building around Haliburton, Mathurin back court then figuring out what I have with guys like Jalen Smith and some of their other young guys. If I was a team trying to compete now or about to compete ASAP, I’d be looking at maybe trading some picks and stuff for Duarte. We’ll see tho. This post is already dumb long for no reason.
@@BOnYTB The age differences in rookies is insane, Duarte is 25 and then there's players like Primo who are still going to be 19 come season opener. Good read btw
Its crazy that dudes like dbook who entered the league at like 18 would be a 7 year vet by 25, i know thats an anomaly but still crazy, i would say the cut off of prospect should be 22, 23-26 are the cutoff for “young” and a player isnt old until 34
You counted 25 year olds but not 24 year old MPJ or 25 year old Murray for the Nuggets, if you count them then they’re A tier for sure with S tier potential depending on if MPJ can stay healthy
I get it as a MIN fan that’s someone you’d definitely want him to mention, but for most fans, (fans who watch this channel, more casual fans likely have 0 idea who he is and that’s ok…nothing wrong w being a casual fan) he’s not someone you’d really name if you’re talking about best young guys on teams. I’m a massive nerd so I know who he is. I like him, he has potential. He kinda had a breakout season in terms of being way more efficient…but he still only played like 15MPG this season and he was a pick in like the 40s. He’ll have a lot more opportunity this year I think. Without PatBev, Beasley, Bolmaro, etc. and DLo having a meh yr last year, maybe he will prove himself & earn more mins. But until then I don’t rly blame ppl for not mentioning him. Edit: Also they did sign Forbes, and they badly need bench 3P shooting. Pretty sure Nowell shot pretty well on low volume last year, but I think to get real burn he’s gonna have to really start drilling 3s this year and show out.
By his criteria having players like booker and fox involved KAT and Dlo should also be included and I think that that easily makes them an S if Ant by himself makes them an A
If you consider Jamal Murray and MPJ as "young", they should definitely be higher. Murray was scoring 50 in the bubble multiple times, and MPJ is a hyper efficient wing player (when he's not hurt)
Shai is better than any player on both of those teams you mentioned. they even have Dort that’s averaging 18ppg and is a lockdown defender. name a better duo than those two from the Pistons and Rockets 🤔 and I can also include Giddey and Chet but I just won’t
@@Zhangjiajie425 I'm not saying Kuminga and Wiseman are gonna all stars, but you're telling me Poole, Wiseman, Moody, and Kuminga are a B?? Ain't no way. Kuminga would have been all rookie if he wasn't on minutes restrictions. Poole is borderline all star already. Id rather have the young core then almost everyone else!
How’d multiple other people in Jamal Murray’s draft class fit into the “young” category but Jamal didn’t? Not to mention MPJ who was drafted a whole 2 years after that
@@xxjackirblackbloddxx7377 nah he always talks them up, on the pod he is his vote to be the best offense in the NBA. I think he thinks that they are older than they are
Lol he obviously didn’t intentionally do this. Like he said he was just having fun vibing this video, just forgot about them clearly. I mean he didn’t even know exactly how he was approaching the video before he started, didn’t even know if he should include future picks when he’d already started 😂. He forgot about guys like Ayton too. Prolly a bunch of others, it happens. Also prolly easier to forget MPJr and Murray bc they didn’t play last year really. ***I know MPJr played 9 games lol***
@@xxjackirblackbloddxx7377 yeah it was one of the recent ones, pretty sure it was the ranking nba defenses and offenses , uploaded within the last 2 weeks
As someone who follows the Blazers, I think you're underestimating Nassir Little's potential. He's everything you want in a hustle guy on the wing, he's just underdeveloped. But he's plays hard on both ends (high motor), he just needs to develop an off the dribble game and a 3pt shot. Also, Jabari Walker, 57th pick this draft might turn out to be the steal of the 2nd Round. Everyone else besides Simons is mehhh, gotta wait and see what Sharpe could turn into, he has alot of upside but he's a blank slate.
Shaedon and Simons got superstar potential, Nas will be a Mikal Bridges type of player soon and Jabari and Trendon are great future role players. There‘s no way we‘re on the same tier as Philly, Bulls and Nets. Nets🤣 Give me these young guys over anyone in the B-tier other than the Warriors
@@ezypeazyy I never said they were on the same tier. I don't get the point you're trying to make. Unless you wanted me to hear you slurping the Warriors. Do that somewhere else, I'm not interested.
@@09lowkey nigga i‘m agreeing with you. I said we shouldn‘t be on the same tier as teams like the Nets. We should be atleast B-tier. I‘m not „slurping“ the Warriors, i‘m a Blazers fan. You slow
I'm not going to debate any of your opinions. But I think you kind of screwed up calling the Suns young but not counting Murray and MPJ for the Nuggets. They are 25 and 24 respectively. I assume you would have had them in A tier if you'd counted those guys?
If it’s a video about teams with the brightest futures they’re definitely S tier for having Jokic under contract for 6 years and all that young talent you mentioned
As a Warriors fan, im fighting for A-tier. Jonathan Kuminga, super athletic potentially super dangerous defender. Moses Moody, sharpshooting defender carrying the team when the vets were out. James Wiseman, 7ft lob threat with growing strength and basketball iq. Patrick Baldwin Jr, a top recruit during highschool but was injured and if he could go back to how he played hell be dangerous. And of course Jordan Poole who was used as a starter in the playoffs, he averaged 18.5 points during the season with his playing time at the beginning still being questionable. Plus two 2nd round players that could become something special if used correctly. Warriors are one of the strangest teams when it comes to youth core because how much the team is mixed in with age a lot more than most other teams.
Only one that’s actually good is Jordan poole. Wiseman is overrated is asf. Kuminga is super raw. Was terrible in the playoffs. And moody is just a role player
I agree for sure. Kuminga is going to be an absolute beast for years to come. Moody is going to be really good. Poole already is really good. I don’t believe in Wiseman at all but the other three carry it
Kenny whenever you make this tier type videos you should put a limit on the top tier, for example 3 teams on S tier. I think this adds more thought and discussion to the videos. peace and shout-out from Brazil 🇧🇷
@@bastard342 he’s literally not tho I watch every game and he be clamping every team’s best player all the time. you probably only saying he’s inconsistent cuz the Thunder shut him down the second half of the season to tank for the lottery pick
Last 19-20 games of the regular season Jordan poole averaged 26 points 6 assists and 5 rebounds shooting 43 percent from three and 48 percent from the field and 93 percent at the free throw line. Poole is legit and Kuminga has great potential those two alone move them into A for me.
Poole was playing at a ALLSTAR level before the reg season ended, Moody was the youngest Warrior in franchise history to score 30+ in a NBA game, Kuminga & Wiseman have both showed freak athleticism with 3 level scoring capabilities. All 23 & younger.. and we have a super young project in Patrick Baldwin Jr. Warriors have a future core that can win titles. Definitely A tier for me. I think we don’t truly understand the magnitude of these guys being groomed & seeing winning basketball in real time
no wayyyy rockets above Knicks. They about even. They do not have more to offer than Knicks with no one taking any jumps yet to prove all star potential unlike r.j already averaging 20 and basically the 1st option. I say they are both A
CCCCCLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEELLLLLLLLAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNDDDDDDD thank you kenny ❤️❤️ i have watched every video since like a month ago when i first discovered you
Yooo kennyyy!!!! I just copped the EB hoodie that you are wearing in this video!!!! IT LOOKS SO FIRE!!! But i just want to say keep up the fire content!!!!
I really believe in the grizzlies team and the development of all of their players and I believe that they can really keep making noise in the league and maybe even be a championship team soon
Did my nuggets dirty Kenny!!!!! Jamal and Mike are definitely young core if Tatum brown Booker and bridges all count 😡 still love you guy great work ❤️
The blazers won the summer league without arguably their 2-3 best young players (anfernee simons, nas little and maybe shaedon sharpe who was our highest draft pick) and they still get disrespected. Plus we got a steal with jabari walker at 57 and trendon watford undrafted. Keon Johnson has huge upside as well and you cant tell me that they shouldn't be higher.
Hornets took a big hit losing Bridges but I feel like if our coaching staff stops trying to force an average team to make the playoffs we could see how talented a lot of the guys on the roster are like Bouknight, Kai Jones, Mark Williams, Bryce McGowens, PJ, JT Thor and Jalen McDaniels. I don't project all these guys to be all stars or anything but I think at their prime all of them could be at bare mininum solid rotational players. I could be wrong but that's the fun part about trying to predict the future
Idk when you filmed this but the bucks cut Nwora from their roster this year and he still ain’t on a roster more then likely he might’ve played his final game in the NBA. Cam Thomas is nice but if we being honest all he offers is buckets if he doesn’t develop the rest of his game he’s going to be out the league or a ok-solid 6th man.
Sometimes it seems like you and RustyBuckets watch each other to get ideas for videos. I'm happy about it, though, because you two are my favorite NBA RU-vid and I like to hear how your opinions differ.
You’re just biased cause I don’t think any of them will be all stars, Simons has all star potential but I don’t think he will be an all star, most teams have young players with all star potential
How are Portland C tier? Anfernee Simons alone should put them in B tier, then you have Shaedon Sharpe, Nassir Little, Keon Johnson, Summer League MVP Trendon Watford, Brandon Williams. That’s an amazing young core if you ask me, I would say between A and B tier
Bro did you really put the Celtics in the S tier because of Tatum and Brown😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀💀 that’s corny.A maxed.that’s two niggas bro n they not even that young
I don’t understand how to OKC thunder get the benefit of the doubt with their young core but the rockets are only A tier because they haven’t proved it yet.
