2:57 i think one reason they chose meiko is because she's often portrayed as being the closest niigo vocaloid to mizuki and specifically being associated with her complicated personal feelings, hence her being in idsmile also. lagtrain's meaning can be interpreted as struggling with the feeling of falling behind everyone else and being left behind, one of mizuki's fears. since it's something very personal and complicated for mizuki, meiko would fit well from a character relationship standpoint

Niigo's cover on Heat Abnormal made me really obsessed with the song, and I'm dying to listen to the full version. Hopefully, it will be out sooner than later, like, Sega, we love it, give us what we want. Very glad that you put this on the first place, def deserved, niigo slayed

VBS and nightcord are really doing well with their covers this year. i got blown away with heat abnormality and yoidore shirazu + so glad that kaito finally got a cover with nightcord too because samsa was such an amazing commission as well!!

0:25 my jaw dropped. i understand your frustration with the cover but i have such an attachment to it (leoni my fav group + rin my fav vs, i alr love the song, released to my bday) that i have to say smth. i think it was the best fit key for them without straining their vocals. what you can hope for is alt vocals, because trust they will save the cover for you. good day!!

Another thing about Heat Abnormality is that whenever the full version comes out, there is a possibility that one of the Niigo members do the low note (it will prob be Kaito tho and that is reasonable as it is very hard) if they actually do I will ascend.

While i don't really agree with Tokyo Teddy Bear being last (personally i would place it around 8th place) i really don't think it deserves the hate it gets. The cover kinda sounds mid in the beginning but i think it's pretty good during the middle part and great at the end. Heat abnormal being at 1st is very real tho. I have been addicted to that song ever since it came out and i really don't think it's recency bias at this point.

the fact that my two favourite covers of this year is last and first place is hilarious to me (I am definitely not biased when it comes to Toyko Teddy Bear)

my obsession with iyowa paying off as i see Heat Abnormality and living millenium in higher rankings. seriously Heat Abnormality is already good with Rei Adachi's transmitter vibe vocals and with KAITO's first Niigo cover im utterly impressed. I'm hoping for Last Moments and Apricot for niigo cuz its just fits them perfectly

My favorite cover from this year (so far) is Kibou no Tsuki, because since Fall of last year it has been in my top 5 favorite Vocaloid songs and still is, nothing in this year would be it for me except they add “phantom thief Kubozono never gets away” by PowaPowa, because they already added the other songs in my top 5 (Shun-ran, and Noushou Sakuretsu Girl)

I don’t mind key changes often because they sometimes sound good. (I personally love n25’s civer of Just Life as much as the OG. and while not a cover, Tsukasa’s NEO being a lower range really benefits his range). But changing TTB’s key works against them because the power is lost. My guess is they lowered it for the other girls cause Shiho and Ichi have the vocals to handle it (lost one’s weeping is unpopular but it really showcases their range/power). Saki I notice usually struggles and Honami can do a bit more but regardless, the key change just didn’t work here/

I personally disagree with Tokyo teddy bears placement. I think the soft but really powerful key of it definitely works for this cover. And I don’t think Rin’s tuning is as bad as people say it is. And I loved the line distribution.

that's why it's better to wait for Ichika's alt vocal. quite disappointed with the tokyo teddy bear cover because all the members sing and saki & honami's voices don't match the hard rock song except for ichika and shiho. Ichika is the main vocal here, she can do high notes but unfortunately his potential is limited because all the members are made like this

couldn't agree more on heat abnormal, it sounds so good, kanade and mafuyu's voices r soft while ena and mizuki r strong, kaito sounds good too I just love everything and the background is chef kiss.

I agree with your thoughts on Tokyo Teddy Bear so much. We've been begging for this cover since the game's debut and this is what we get? I can't help but feel like we deserved better from Leo/need. It sucks that almost every high-energy song they cover flops (Hibana, Teo, Ghost Rule, Six Trillion, etc.) Leo/need was my favourite unit at one point and I still love them to bits but listening to Teddy Bear makes me want to "find a tougher pair of scissor to cut my face out."
