Alright here’s my Trail to Oregon rant- the musical is based off a video game called the Oregon Trail. Trail to Oregon is my favorite Starkid musical and You Gotta Go is fantastic. Everybody gives it hate because it’s “toilet humor” but the iconic quote from Oregon Trail is “you have died of dysentery.” So... yeah. I guess just for consideration.

I personally agree with a lot of these and also disagree with a lot, but I fully respect your opinions. Black Friday is my favourite too, but AVPS is the best Very Potter Musical in my opinion. Holy Musical Batman! is basically the most underrated Starkid show.

I love that your faves are some of my least faves, means they all get some love!! TTO will always rank quite high on my list purely because of the song 'Wagon on Fire', we live for Joey belting and counter-melodies in this house!

This isn't related to Starkid, but you should really check out Galavant. It's a tv series set in the middle ages. It has knights and kings and of course it's a musical. It only has two short seasons and is one of my favourite things ever.

Usually A Very Potter Sequel is the favorite of the three, so this is... Sus.

In terms of Black Friday, this may be a reason for other people too, but the reason I had some qualms with it was because it felt pandery at times, with a lot of unnecessary references to TGWDLM that felt forced for the sake of fans (like when they say "should we move these boxes?" and the weed smoking joke and even kinda the way they introduced paul and emma, I know, im sorry). I love the songs (more as time goes on) but there is also a bit of disconnect for me with how there seem to be too many main characters who have their own "i want" song and eleventh hour song that make the pacing a little off for me but honestly i do really like the musical and I've grown to love the characters and songs more now

Don't be sorry about your opinions! The shows are so varied that not everyone will agree on them, and different concepts appeal to different people. I would like to see an unpopular opinions video from you, but be prepared for a lot of arguing in the comments.

You and I have very different rankings, but honestly that’s kind of the beauty of StarKid. Their musicals are so weird and charming that everyone likes something different about them. They make bold off-the-wall creative decisions so you kind of either dig it or you don’t, but we keep coming back regardless because of how talented they are as a team.

for me black friday was such a good show and it’s so cool to see the group grow and be able to give us these professional recordings, it’s really just showcasing how far they have come and they are able to do more cool things

This is SUPER interesting because I feel like... even though we (in this fandom) are all incredibly enthusiastic in supporting Starkid, our tastes and the things we like about their shows are so different (which is why it's awesome that they have such a wide variety of content!!) - I've seen so many of these types of ranking videos and they're always different and surprising in some way! Personally, my favorite show is probably Holy Musical B@man, closely followed by Twisted - I was happy to see HMB so high up on your list as well! And also I agree HARD about senior year being the highest rated of the potter shows, it just has so much emotional payoff from earlier setups... plus it has AJ Holmes as Lockheart and honestly that's all I never knew I needed xD Oh, also, are you planning on watching Nightmare Time, the collection of stories set in the Hatchetfield multiverse? The first stream is on youtube for free, the second and third are available for 8$ each and definitely worth the price, they all contain new stories and new songs!!

Starship is even kind of a joke among the Starkid people too. At Homecoming, they made a crack about how it's a 3-hour show with 8 songs. If you haven't watched the Homecoming concert it was a lot of fun and the recording of it also offers a nice updated version of the songs. AJ and Clark even made jokes about how everyone learned to sing in the last 10 years.

Recently got into Starkid and I LOVE IT! I would also recommend Spies Are Forever!

Someone has probably mentioned this already, but just in case- So like you said, you liked Starkid, but not the potty humour, Well there's another company, that crosses over with both Starkid and Tin Can, but is all about higher brow humor! Shipwrecked Comedy! From them, there's Poe Party, the case of the gilded lily, little VVomen, and the a book by it's cover series (which is a crossover with Tin Can, there should be playlists with the videos in the right order), plus afew others that aren't as well known. And this may be useless, but some other shows that aren't Starkid, Tin Can, or Shipwrecked but are kinda related; -Sh*tty Broadway, (it's a show dedicated to a love of Broadway.) -I Ship It (stars a couple Starkid/Tin Can actors, sweet short film) -Muzzled (again just recognisable faces, cool story idea.) And... That's all I could think of! If you've already heard about these, just uh... Ignore this I guess😅

Even if you don't watch the Nightmare Time series by StarKid, take a listen to the music. The theme (Nightmare Time) is especially creepy and catchy.

I think a lot of people develop their favs depending on when they join the fandom. I'm an OG fan, so I'm much more partial to the earlier musicals than the newer ones, but I've also had time to watch them over and over and listen to the soundtracks over and over! I like your videos because it's nice seeing a fresh opinion! Love these and I can't wait for more

Love the video! Out of order of the way you discussed them. - that holy musical Batman is so high up. I’m glad that as a someone who hasn’t seen all the superhero films, you could still appreciate it. I think it’s one of the better crafted shows. -Yas Black Friday at the number one slot! It’s so much fun. - I like that trail to Oregon can appeal to people unfamiliar with the game. The end is certainly a choice, but the show is a lot of fun. -I totally understand the issues with twisted. It is a lot of “low brow” humor. There are definitely more sophisticated shows. -TGWDLM I think suffers because of pacing. Some of the scenes drag (even if they’re well acted. - firebringer has some of my favorite music but is not the best book. Also the ending is again a choice. -I love Ani but think since we’ve seen they can do parody of things people haven’t seen and still have a great response (see holy musical batman). -MAMD is brilliant but maybe it feels dated? Idk I actually need to rewatch it -Starship really impressed me because of the puppetry more than anything. -The AVPM series. I understand the placements. AVPM Senior Year I may need to rewatch because I don’t remember loving it but haven’t seen it recently enough to really judge

I first watched AVPM in 2010 and I haven't watched a lot of the older shows since about 2014 so (partly inspired by you watching for the first time) I've started doing my own rewatch/ranking of my preferences! I'm watching in order of release and I'm only a few in at the moment, but I'm SO excited to watch the quality improve as they go! If you loved AVPSY for the sense of joy/nostalgia I'd 100000% recommend watching Homecoming (you do have to pay for it, but there's a digital download) - it's just a huge concert celebration of the 10 years of StarKid!!

I totally agree with the #1 pick, Black Friday is my favorite too!! I feel like most of the shows have 2/3 in terms of good story, memorable characters, and great music (a lot of it is personal preference, I still adore all of them), but Black Friday is really strong in all 3 categories. I feel like it's a hit or miss and I can see how it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I love it!!!!! ps- PLEASE do a spies are forever reaction, I think it'd be a blast! pps- love your channel, hope you're doing well!!!!💕💕

In my experience the order changes as you rewatch and things grow on you, so I am not at all offended that my FAVORITE musicals are at the bottom (and the middle, I guess)

i feel like the appeal of hmb is that while it does feature some jokes you wont get unless you know superheroes theres actually not that many when you compare it to say ani for instance so it has more of a general appeal even for people who dont know superheroes. for example the only batman film ive ever seen is lego batman and i would say that hmb is one of my favourite starkid shows

oh my gosh amy, you don't need to apologize! there are some hardcore starkid fans (i think most of us are tbh) but we're usually a pretty respectful group and i don't think anyone will be mad at you for your opinion!! cause they are your opinions, and they're valid! we can't all love every starkid show. and i agree, the "potty humor" does get to be a bit much in some of their shows.

I'm so glad you rated Holy Musical Batman high! I think the music in it is so great and it's hilarious but so underrated. I feel differently to you about some other shows but I can feel all the love coming out of this video and I'm so glad you've discovered Starkid and found your own favourites! I agree with like 90% of your rankings you are VALID!! Black Friday was great, you should totally watch the new Nightmare Time videos, they are also set in Hatchetfield and have quite a similar vibe to Black Friday

Seeing Black Friday is your favourite I suggest you buy it with the special features on Starkid’s website if you can. The commentary and Behind the scenes is my favourite thing to watch

Literally no matter what order you put these in you would piss someone off, so definitely don't worry about it. I think a lot of us who got into Starkid really early tend to look back on some of the shows with rose colored glasses because of the nostalgia factor and we don't totally acknowledge some of their less great aspects. It's really fun, for me at least, to hear the perspective of people who are coming to the shows more recently and see what things do and don't work for them!

Twisted is my favorite comfort musical! I also used to love Black Friday, but I watched it recently and didn’t like it very much. I loved watching your videos reacting to the Starkid musicals!

I also watched all the starkid musicals during COVID for the first time! I learned to embroider while I watched them

I've only seen the three Harry Potter shows and the first act of Twisted, but AVPS was my favorite of what I've seen, lol. I thought Lupin and Umbridge were really funny though, so I can see why you wouldn't like it if you're not a fan of how those characters were portrayed in this one. The scene with Mama Umbridge's mom felt unnecessary to me, but so many of the themes in the show were otherwise really wholesome and hit me straight in the feels. 'To Have a Home' seriously makes me cry. I might have to try watching some of these other shows at some point. I admit, Twisted kind of put me off trying out the other stuff (it was not really my thing conceptually, musically, or in its humor).

i think starship is the most technically impressive starkid show with the set and puppets and music styling, but probably still one of the most boring and also way too long

I always "know what you mean" even though I sometimes disagree. The only major thing I would‘ve done differently is that I put Trail to Oregon on number 1 and Black friday further down. The songs for Black friday were literally perfect but I just really didn‘t understand and like lots of the story...if it was just the music I would‘ve put it higher but because of the story I didn‘t love it as much as the others...
